The Story Of Christian Dior | The Fashion Revolution | Inside Dior (Part 1)

Ойын-сауық

In February 1947, Christian Dior founded a new haute couture house, launched his 'New Look', and started a fashion revolution. The designer himself died just 10 years later, but the brand he created has gone from strength to strength. In 2017, the House of Dior will be 70. To celebrate this landmark, Discovering Dior takes an exclusive look behind the scenes of the fashion house today to find out about its present and its past.

the Filipina Anna Bayle …was refinement in visual performance in every runway walk ..put together in motion….she literally glides…face projections and evoking refinement…almost fluid and you see her performance down to the tension of her fingers ….she delivers haute couture glamour…most notably in her period with Monsieur Christian Lacroix….where she mostly carries the big big opera coats and dresses..alone (change music, change mood, pure haute couture vibe and Anna Bayle stride)

In the 50' they smiled naturally, as it should be. It's a real turn off to have to look at a Holly angry looking model these days.😗😝😝 What the hell are they thinking??? And they walk unnaturally bad. Charlize Theron is missing something. Her dress looks very similar to a tropical giant clam shell. She really should be wearing an oversized-pearl necklace with this dress. Or, any pearls at all would be fine, as long as it looks like pearls, and looks tropical.

Correct, The OPERA at Versailles was built by Louis XV for the marriage of his son, the Dauphin,Louis Ferdinand. The architect was the awesome Ange-Jaques Gabriel, and the hall is both visually and acoustically perfect.

After WW2 Dior made a trip to Australia. There he found on rationing and some prosperity. His fashions were showcased on TV and he made many sales. This he plowed back into his fashion house. Some say Australia made the House of Dior.

Many things go into a concept. It depends on who they expect to be buying and the season. Even your high end clients now dress more cacasual yet still want the brand name. It's smart to create lines to casual wear to glam. Also cost is less on the fashion house to design items with materials that are not as expensive. Smart. This is why these businesses have been around for years. Someone must be loveing this fashion house..Christian Dior is after all one of the best fashions to wear. No shade to any of the other major fashion houses as they all are fabulous.

Dior was updated Victorian. You'd need a maid and a button hook to get in and out of some of those dresses -' even day wear! Women protested the new look because it was so restrictive after years of war time freedom and movement. The embroidery, ribbon, fabric and workmanship were perfection, but the metres of fabric and corsetry were a chore.

  • @Gecko....

The main protest was because it was seen as wasteful after years of restrictions and rationing of material during the war. It was a small group of feminists who protested its "regressive" design, control freaks if you ask me, they can wear what they like and shouldn't stop other women from wearing what they like, who are they to be the arbiters of what is acceptable? New Look made women look powerful, independent, confident, in control. New look wasn't particularly difficult to get into, women were lighter back in the 40s anyway, oh and who ever said fashion had to be comfortable? I wear heels that cripple my ankles and feet to look good! It was brilliantly successful and influential. It won back Paris' fashion crown that it lost during the war.
