The Multi-Bit Guy
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
While fitting out the workshop in the Museum I needed to open up a multi-socket power strip so I could rewire it. When I saw it had anti-tamper screws I couldn't resist making a little playful parody that contains a useful lesson...

Couldn't you have fashioned something out of a paperclip ;)

I tried to but Mr Clippy got annoyed with me.
Christ, I'm falling over PDUs like that without the iffy screws - I'll send you some! lmao

We had a donation to the museum of a load of PDUs with individually fused sockets that I've been using on the displays to replace domestic extension strips. I wondered what was so special about this one that it needed security screws. Turns out not a lot! It was was amusing to make this video though. 😁

@@TheDigitalOrphanage hahaha - yep, torn loads of different "formats" apart (I run data centres)..... all bits of metal in the end. The smart PDUs are mostly just network boards and relays.
I knew EXACTLY what this was as soon as I saw the rotary tool and the name of this video. ;-) Well played, sir. Well played.

Cheers, hopefully it comes across as the light hearted parody it was meant to be.
That's kinda funny you went with the old paint can opener. I also got desperate once, didn't break out the Dremel but I do now have a very similar flat head screwdriver with the middle cut out

I think the whole video comes under that banner 🤔
Dremels out for the retro lads!
God punished him by flooding his house (true story).

Brutal! If God does that over a computer I'm glad I'm not religious!
😂
I was worried that you might have people gunning for you if you got carried away with that rotary tool. You don't want to give detractors any ammunition.

They can borrow my security bits anytime. 😁
Dremely goodness ... that’s what’s needed!

Howard, but I'm too cheap to buy an actual Dremel!
Hmmmm... Who could you be referring to?

To be fair, I have done both at some point in life... cutting a slot and cutting a tool (though I did cut a flathead-bit, so only the bit got repurposed, not the whole driver)

We all have. We didn't do it to a rare retro computer that might only exist in a very low volume though. That was the whole issue ;)

I see what you did there.
