thats wrong, multiplayer is not dead, just download the launcher from the discord and ask for players to join, there is always someone that also want to play :D and there are 2+ servers

Well to be fair, that promotional art is from Dark Messiah: Elements (the Xbox 360). Arkane didn't really have any involvement in that port so that team did whatever I guess.

That game definitely looks interesting. It’s too bad that it’s dead, and any sequels likely won’t be good. I really wish that we could have gotten Arkane’s Return to Ravenholm. Although, Adrian Shepherd seems kind of out of place since the HECU are completely gone, Race X retreated to wherever they came from, and the various Opposing Force weapons wouldn’t be in the game (plus, a lot of them wouldn’t really work with having their alt fire removed). I think a much better Opposing Force sequel would have been that Opposing Force 2 mod (I descovered that mod as a kid years ago and was so excited for it to eventually come out. You can probably imagine my disappointment at the fact that it was cancelled, and when they released all the assets it’s very clear that basically nothing got done in all those years of development. All they had were a few new enemies, some maps that had promise but were very unpolished, and most of the new assets were just reskins of what already existed in HL2. I now know that you should only ever get excited for a fan project if there’s definitive proof that they’re actively working on it, and have a playable build where you can test things out and give feedback on what does and doesn’t work). A much better pick for the player character would be Barney. Just make the game take place a few weeks after the Citadel blows up. There could be a prologue where it shows him and the civilians escaping from city 17 on the trains. They’d be far enough that the explosion wouldn’t destroy everything, but would instead cut the power to the train and derail a few cars. Have Barney get knocked out, and in a few weeks he’d wake up in Grigori’s house. In that time the civilians would have made their way to the portions of Ravenholm that weren’t overrun by Headcrab zombies, and set up shop. My reasoning behind this is because it didn’t make sense that the Headcrabless zombies had such a large population, so having all those people get infected was the best explanation I could think of. There would also be a line of dialogue saying that while Barney was out Grigori upgraded his suit to have the electricity resistance meter. This way there would be story explanations for gameplay mechanics. As for the way the zombies would look I was thinking that maybe they’d look like a mix between the place holders, and the actual Headcrab zombies. This part isn’t really fleshed out in my mind. Since Arkane is owned by Bethesda and by extension Microsoft then if this ever releases we’ll see a Half Life game that’s a Shrexbox One X/S exclusive available om gamepass (yes I just made a terrible Shrek pun and you’ll never get me to apologize). That would definitely be interesting/funny if that was reality. What are some other videos you have down the pipeline? I’ve watched some of your others and they were interesting.

Well I think you just won the award of my longest YT comment. I was very excited to read this so much that I grabbed a drink. To answer some of your questions: Although no one plays Dark Messiah's multiplayer, you can still get a game up and running. In fact, after this video was released... I actually did get a game with a few people from a DM Discord server (that should be the pinned comment on this video). Also, there technically are sequels, from what I know, in other Might and Magic games they do mention the characters from this game. Granted, you are right we may never get a actual sequel. But I don't think it's needed personally. I remember that Opposing Force 2 mod. As a kid, I actually thought that it was real and believed what I saw from KZread gameplay footage. Really shows how much I just wanted another Half-life game, I was that much of a sucker to believe anything I viewed on the internet. I heard about the status of the mod, which is a shame really. Having Barney instead may have been interesting, considering we still don't know what happens to him and anything is up in the air. But, for Arkane Studios you kind of have to keep in mind they always focus on the gameplay first and then the story last in their development. They really didn't put much thought into casting Adrian as their protagonist. Especially the headcrabless zombies and how they wore "I am a placeholder" shirts. It was confirmed on a Tyler McVicker interview that the zombies were experiments of Father Grigori. But who know if Arkane would have stick with the idea. That is another good point: Arkane is now own by two companies (ZeniMax and Microsoft). They literally can't make a Half-life game at this rate even more so and, of course, would need approval from Valve again if they wanted to do that. It would just be jumping through loop holes. As for my video category recommendations, that is a good question. I would recommend my Halo: CE review, my Half-life Demos video (that took months to make) and my most popular video on cancelled Half-life games. For Fun Reviews, my favorites might be the Sonny or The Thing (2002) reviews; those are pretty decent videos and age better in my opinion. I actually have a Playlist on my channel called "💥 EDC Through the Years." I have a description of that year and what was going on during those times. Oh yeah and I guess my newest video called "The (Second) Worst ASMR Video" you can watch (if you really want to look at that). My early works and uploads were very shitposty and don't age as well. There are still good jokes and commentary, but the presentation I wish was better. My first video though I love very much, since without it the channel wouldn't have happened. I don't know if you saw any of those videos, but hopefully there is something new to look at. Cheers! - EDC

I’ll usually leave long comments on videos if I have something comprehensive I want to say. Other times it will just be short. On the subject of other games when I made that comment I wasn’t really aware of the other games. I mostly just knew about this game because Arkane worked on it, and used some of the ideas in Return to Ravenholm. I unfortunately tend to say thing without having prior knowledge. Something funny about Opposing Force 2 I also thought that was real, but I mostly chalk that up to the fact that I was a dumb kid at the time, and I didn’t know the difference between fan made and official content. Like I seriously thought that stuff like the playable Headcrab mod, and Point of View (that playable Vortigaunt mod) were officially part of them game as free dlc. I also thought that the Too Many Items mod for Minecraft was the beta version of Creative mode, and that the Aether (amazing mod) was actually part of the game, but that Notch removed it for basically no reason. I believed that Krystal was an unlockable character in Brawl because one of those videos on how to unlock characters said so (interestingly she was actually considered. Sadly, due to time constraints she didn’t make it in. It’s funny how back then the videos were basically glorified slideshows with music. I kind of miss that). I forgot to mention it. But, yeah the fact that it’s vague/unknown what happened to Barney is the reason I think he would be the better pick. They could probably have had a short chapter that takes place right before the train leaves where he’s helping civilians get to safety, and fighting off Combine. For what I said about a plague infecting the civilians my thought process was that it seemed really out of character for Grigori to experiment on people. I saw that video Tyler made, and it was truly fascinating. It’s so sad that since Microsoft now owns Arkane, and Valve is Valve the chances of us getting that game are so astronomically small. If we’re lucky Valve will suffer another massive data breach/hack and well have access to it (it’s honestly hilarious just how many times stuff from Valve peaks out. Are they just incompetent when it comes to online security, or are there just constant cyber attacks targeting them?). That’s interesting what you said about Arkane being gameplay first, and cramming a story into the games later. That would honestly make sense because Prey (they seriously should have just given the game a different name. Then people wouldn’t hate it just because it’s not the real Prey. I’m still mad that we didn’t get Prey 2. That game would have been so cool) doesn’t have much of a story other than notes you can find talking about what happened, and Dishonored doesn’t make much sense when you think about it (I still really love the game though). This is kind of off topic, but it leads into some other things I want to mention. There’s a Half Life rts called Lambda Wars. You can get the thing for free on Steam. I haven’t played it yet since I have a cheep laptop, but the game looks pretty good. The only two factions are Combine and Rebels. There’s this other cool fan made rts that’s based on Legend of Zelda. It’s called Hyrule Conquest, and is a mod for 0ad (open source game so it’s 100% free). It started out as a mod for Medieval 2 called Hyrule Total War (haven’t played this one because I don’t have Medieval 2, and I didn’t know about the project until a few years ago), but he changed engines because he could do a lot more in the other one. The guy’s been working on it for over a decade now. He recently made a new update where it changed the building system from free build to nodes like Halo Wars. I’m kind of torn on this because it messes with a lot of how unique gimmicks for each faction. Each of the factions has radically different gameplay, and are based on different things from Zelda. For the lore/story he’s combined ideas from the three different timelines; as well as real world history, mythology, and symbolism. Some of his ideas are truly amazing and surpasses Nintendo, while others take the source material into some really weird directions that don’t really work. It’s mostly good. The guy’s channel is called UndyingNephalim. You should check him out. The guy also has a fan made Star Fox game that’s a reimagining of the 64 continuity, and takes some ideas from the other timelines (I’m aware that Nintendo never officially came out and said there’s three Star Fox timelines. But, there might as well be because the different reboots have their own continuities). So far it’s really cool. Unfortunately he’s not doing any on rails sections because he doesn’t really like those, and the Freespace Open (another open source game) engine can’t handle on foot missions/sections. So Adventures and Assault won’t work out well. Luckily there’s this guy called Esphirian who’s making a reimagining of Adventures. In terms of gameplay it’s mike a mix between Assault and Adventures with it being open world like BOTW. I’ve talked with the guy in the comments and he has some really cool ideas for the story (so far he hasn’t released any playable builds, and it’s just two trailers. They definitely look really good though. One of the good things is that Krystal is tagging along for the whole game like she should have in the real Adventures). Speaking of Star Fox Adventure did you see how the game it started out as Dinosaur Planet leaked online last year? It’s straight up a miracle that that happened. It was super buggy, and crashed a lot, but modders are turning it into the masterpiece it would have been. I saw some of your other videos and they were pretty good. Hopefully more come out soon. The thing you’ve said about making dumb jokes that have aged horribly definitely applies to me too. Although, there was this one time where I made a joke about Chris Chan’s lovequest coming to an end at the same time he started to do weird stuff with Barb so something wasn’t right. Then after a long time the leaks came out, and now Chris is in jail for exactly that (if you’ve read his jail letters you probably noticed that idiot now thinks he’s Christ. For a while it was absolutely hilarious, but then it got old).

That’s insane that you actually met the guy. The only actual interaction I had with the guy was calling him an idiot in the comment section because he said these people who were obviously weens were trying to get him to tase himself. Personally I prefer the fraise Chris’s life played out like a Greek tragedy.
