The Most Ornate Knife-Gun You Will Ever See: CM-1 "Dragon"

Combination knife-gun devices have been popular for hundreds of years, spurred initially by the single-shot nature of early firearms. The designs evolved to incorporate revolver cylinders when the revolver was invented, and remain interesting to people even to the present day. Global Research And Development (GRAD) of Las Vegas manufactured the CM-1 combination knife and revolver in the 1990s. Where most such weapons are not disguised, the CM-1 design hid the revolver and barrel mechanism inside the grip of the knife, leading to it being classified as an AOW ("any other weapon") under the NFA.
A latch on the back of the grip allows it to open up, exposing a 6-shot cylinder chambered for .22LR cartridges and a barrel ending just above the blade or the knife. The trigger is a double action only squeeze type lever on the bottom surface of the grip which is locked in place until released for firing.
GRAD made the CM-1 in several different variations, including multiple blade styles, a rifle-mounted bayonet type, a blade-only version without the revolver, a fancy decorated model, and this one of a kind extravagantly embellished "DRAGON" example, complete with 102 embedded diamonds.

Russians have a strange tradition to eat with their combat knives. For example, russian for supper is ужин, which translated literraly means "cutting off". I guess some eccentric wealthy russian could use unloaded knife-gun like this one for that purpose.

  • @SimpleImprovement

@@ferwiner2 Complete nonsense, sorry. Saying this is as a russian. Ужин is not "cutting off" ("cutting off" will be отрезать, by the way) - ужин is pretty self-sufficient word, and it only means the late-time meal, nothing else. Perhaps ages ago, in one of those semi-slavic languages it meant something like that, but I've never heard of it. And hell, I've never ever heard of anyone of any social class or profession ever eating with a combat knife.

Out of all the channels dedicated to firearms, I prefer this one due to a few factors. 1. The strange and fascinating weapons brought before the camera. 2. The presentation. Unlike some of them which prefer to be reality tv esque shows focused more on blowing crap up (though admittedly that’s pretty fun too), this is a much more straightforward and informative program. 3. Gun Jesus himself. He speaks with intelligence and admits to when he doesn’t know something.

A Russian once told me that there's a whole series of jokes about those filthy rich people, without style or manners, who would buy ugly things like that. They call them "New Russians". One was about such a new Russian walking into a jeweler's shop, requesting to buy a gold crucifix pendant as big as his head. "Wrap it up! But take down that strange gymnast hanging from the beams. speaking of knife-guns, you would love the NRS knife, the knife is held with the blade facing the shooter. Instead, the knife fires a silent special-purpose 7.62mm cartridge. Currently, there are two versions of the knife, the NRS and the NRS-2. NRS stands for "nozh razvedchika strelyayushiy" and translates literally as "scout's shooting knife". The NRS has a clip-point blade and fires the 7.62x38 mm SP-3 cartridge which, in terms of muzzle energy, is comparable to the .25 ACP. The NRS-2 is a spear-point design and uses the more advanced 7.62x42 mm SP-4 round (comparable to the .32 ACP). Due to the cartridge's unique design, the knife (or any other weapon chambered for the same round) produces almost no noise or fumes. The bullet is pushed out of the case by a piston, which, at the peak of its extension, locks the case mouth, thus trapping the gases inside and eliminating the muzzle crack. So in the end what we have is an extremely silent weapon with a muzzle energy of 90 J for the SP-3 round or 200 J in the SP-4 chambering, which is more than enough to kill at ranges of up to 20 m.

Sure but a knife with a proper grip and a dinky .22 revolver/pistol seems much more practical in that last ditch. The fact that you have to twist something pretty small 180 degrees in a high stress situation seems like a good way to get "unalived". It not like that gun-knife can be used strictly one-handed, you'll need your off-hand to twist the "safety" so why not go for two different things weapons that both work properly?

This ivory revolver is of the highest craftsdwarfship. On it is an image in gold of a dragon. The dragon is striking a menacing pose. It is studded with round cut diamonds. It menaces with spikes of steel.

It is such a shame that I am not rich because I am so tasteless that I could start a new renaissance of fashion and lingo... I have a laundry list of bizzare tasteless stuff I would do if I was rich and left to my own devices. For example I would get a really big and colorful peacock as a pet and have fashioned for him an extravagantly elegant collar so I could have him on a leash... you have any idea how small a peacocks neck is? That would be fabulously ridiculous.
