California self defense laws basically, but this isn’t California compliment because the blade is longer than 2”. Also if they count that as a bayonet then it’s an assault weapon because bayonets and grenade launchers are considered on the same level for “assault features”, not that it’s on the tiny list of allowed pistols on the approved roster anyways...

It's a cool concept that had promise with just a bit more engineering! Would love to know more about it, and where the inventor was going with the design

I've been digging into this thing, and I've found a couple of things. 1: I found what appears to be this exact gun in a Cowan's auction that ended may 7th, 2020. Lot #462 on invaluable dot com. 2: I've found Unwin Rogers knife guns that look very similar, and there seems to be a bit of mechanical variance between pieces, so it within the realm of what to expect from them. I wonder if this was a custom or prototype Unwin Rogers pistol. A prototype could explain why there isn't any markings when there normally would be multiple. I can't find the patent documents though, so I can't confirm if it was for the patent.

That's something to use for my worldbuilding project. Thanks!

The protruding blade allows you to check the knife's sharpness whilst aiming the barrels. If you miss with both shots, you'll be certain the blade will be able to finish then off!

Those antler handle knives are EVERYWHERE in Scotland, I never would have thought anyone would think of them as "vintage".

When I first saw this, I immediately thought of that scene from scrubs “knife wrench”

One can technically recreate these things either by using something like a Taurus Judge or a double barreled shotgun and mount a blade on it.

"There's no safe way to carry this thing capped" You could have just left the word capped off the end of that sentence. This is terrifying. I love how you could easily stick your thumb when reaching for the hammers.

There's a similar gun used in the movie called Return of Sabata staring Lee Van Cleef except it's a single barrel. Its has the knife and also the knuckle buster. Great shot of it towards the end of the movie.

Been watching too much Joerg Sprave. I was expecting Ian to say "Let me show you it's features" and laugh on top of it.

My uncle had a real one of these. He bought it for a chocolate bar from his ration when he was in Berlin as part of the army of occupation in 1946. He used it exclusively as a corkscrew. A fascinating thing, although he swore it was 18th century and not 19th.

For a moment I thought we were going to get a "Let me show you its features" there.

You can feel his excitement lately!

Old 1950's era magazines such as Popular Science, Popular Mechanics, Mechanics Illustrated, etc. had homemade, one of a kind, project guns that occasionally readers wrote articles about. This looks like a more talented project gun from that era possibly. (BTW wasn't just limited to guns, readers made robots, electric cars, bizarre 50's -ish contraptions, yet all showing imagination and talent.)
