As a former Walmart employee, the management basically treated me like a ping pong ball that could be easily replaced and kept switching my positions, and they never properly told me what I was doing wrong. Please don't work there.

Same experience. Then after using me from October to January I was informed my full time position was actually just “seasonal.” Which ironically happened after listening in on the store managers talking in the break room about needing to make payroll cuts. Of course the store was already short staffed though! 🙃

Former Walmart employee here as well. My store refused to respect my medical and would repeatedly make me heavy lift despite a bad shoulder injury I had suffered there and force me onto a register where heavy lifting was required plus triggered my anxiety disorder. The amount of panic attacks I suffered on the salesfloor plus in front of customers was unreal. Plus Sedgwick said they don’t cover anxiety under their policies for exemptions which is actually a federal crime because anxiety is protected by the ADA

As a former employee of Home Depot, I've seen worse. Rodents running around the store and eating up the Reese's, rude managers, and shoplifting being an issue since we had no security guards and weren't allowed to confront anyone.

I worked at GameStop years ago. My manager was an ex Disney park employee... He was the strictest, most unfun individual I've ever met. You would think you would be encouraged to have fun with the customers and create that welcoming environment. Nope... He wrote you up if you did so. He also had an autistic son that he used to get sympathy and money from customers... He claimed it went to Autism Speaks (god awful people), but it just lined his pockets. Worked at Walmart for a short period of time, as well. Why was it short? They knew I was autistic from the start and assured me I'd get to step to the back if I happened to need a moment so I didn't have a meltdown. Nope... Had several meltdowns while customers were around and I was reprimanded for "making a scene"

As a fellow autistic, I am so sorry both of those happened to you. I was always afraid of having to be a cashier or something in a store like this (tbh, the sudden burst of videos showcasing horrible people's behavior terrifies me of dealing with them so I don't wanna be anywhere in public view), and I'm definitely not working at a Walmart, no matter what people say. I don't care about the money, I care about my MENTAL HEALTH, thank you. Money can't replace sanity...I wish people understood this. :/

The store manager (which I will not name), approached me one day, and asked me if I was interested in doing bagging. It couldn't have come at a better time, as I felt bored of my stocking job, that I find it more fun to do bagging than the previous. I still work there, just 2 days a week like it has always been. In fact, I'm approaching 2 years in a couple of weeks. In fact, March 24th will mark 2 years as I was hired immediately after my job interview was over.

It's cool this guy is starting to expand his content. From just shows to food to this. It's pretty neat to see a variety of content. While having a consistent theme

There's not a lot of people that know how to completely change the topic of their videos without it still feeling like the same content you've grown to love. Which is a good thing, it brings in new fans, keeps the job from getting stale for the KZreadr, and doesn't ostracize to much of the older fans. Most KZreadr's have to create a second channel specifically for that one topic.

I have a "fun" story about Target as an employee of a company that sells cleaning products to their distribution centers. Target is generally quite difficult to get a hold of when it comes time for them to pay their invoices, but this particular incident really takes the cake. I got through to someone on the phone, and she told me to hold. She didn’t actually put me on hold, as such, but instead set the receiver down on their desk. I could hear the background noises of the office, and sat there for about five minutes, waiting for her to pick back up. When someone eventually picked the phone back up, it wasn’t the woman I’d gotten through to. It was a man, who sounded very confused about why the phone had been left off of the hook. Turns out the person working at the desk I’d gotten through to had went off-shift and just left the phone off the hook with me on the other end. Fun times.

My target story is basically when I tried to get sanrio cards from animal crossing and they didn't follow the rules. I went to my nearest target and learned they sold the last pack ten minutes ago (this was a year or so ago) I bought a pack from a scalper for 50 dollars and now target has an over surplus of them... For more context, that was basically my last resort and after I bought them, I learned that there was news of Nintendo stocking them because of how badly the event was handled. The employee was a nice guy though.

As awful as it is as a customer having to deal with customer service, can you really blame them for not giving a crap? They're underpaid, overworked, and treated worse than a rented mule by customers and management. I try to be understanding, though, like everyone, I have my breaking point.

I too worked at Walmart and I was treated like dirt by most of the staff no matter how respectful, kind, and hard working that I was. However I was fortunate enough to be noticed by customers and was praised by them. I literally was the kindest staff member to both the staff and the customers as well as the most helpful. Despite the praise from customers I just couldn't handle being the backbone of an entire store from a billion dollar company.

When my brother worked the registers there, he always had a line. That's before they added self-checkout, mind you. The reason was because he was like you, the most polite and decent person there, and customers wanted him to be the one they dealt with. I will never understand why people have to treat customer service like crap. One, it never works the way they think it does (squeaky wheel getting the grease), plus you're making someone else miserable to the point they might quit ensuring the next visit will be even worse.

@@Craxin01 it truly is unfortunate that customer service is treated like it doesn't matter. There's no excuse for an employee to ruin another customer's day especially considering that shopping at Walmart is just as stressful as working there.

This guy single-handedly carried my childhood back in 2016 with his top 10 lists, and coming back now to see him still going strong just feels so proud. Keep going man, we love you!

As someone who works maintenance in Walmart. Its a common of lazy workers, entitled and rude customers, bad managers, and people treat workers like servants and think its okay to steal. I've had people smoke indoors (vaping as well) irritating people's lungs, steal a lot of items, leave food where it goes bad or take bites out of it without paying, and I've had people come in on mushrooms threatening someone or doing drugs in the restroom. And as maintenance I've had to clean up in PPE after drug users. Edit: After having an issue with GameStop not allowing returns on opened game and only allowing trade ins at a severely low rate.

In my experience what I worked for Walmart there were too many managers giving conflicting assignments and then you can get in trouble for not finishing one of the managers assignments because it was just being not possible with helping customers and doing other stuff not to mention I had a bad experience being promoted to full-time and then a manager pulled me into the office said I wasn't zoning good enough Even though I had not been trained once nor had there been any training computer work about how to properly zone and let me go not even a week or two after getting full-time

I am so sorry you had to deal with any of that. I know if I see someone placing a frozen or cold item on the shelf I try and run it back to a fridge/freezer or give it to an employee so it stands a lower chance of going bad [only if it's still cold/frozen and I physically saw them do it - I don't do it with food that's just randomly there, I know that's dangerous! - if it's warm or I didn't see it, I just alert an employee if I can find one so they know]. I know the employees go through a lot of stuff and I always try to make my visit as if someone I loved worked there and would have to "Clean up after me". But it still blows my mind that people act like they do in Walmart and similar places like they don't hate that crap at their jobs.

​@@phantomstrider Back when I was in the third grade. Me and my brother wanted to get Mario Kart DS for our DSI systems back in 2013. But the worker said it wasn't in stock but we could order it and get it through the mail. I kid you not the entire summer we waited and it never came. We wanted to get back in May of 2013 but our Mom decided to cancel it in August 2013 ( me and my brother were fine with it).

Two of my friends used to work at our local Walmart. The first one quit because the stress was physically taking a toll on him. The second was fired for absolutely absurd reasons. His family live in a spot that has a history of heavy flooding when the snow melts. Last year, he called out of work saying that if the family had any hope of salvaging the house's basement then he needed to help them clean it out. Management essentially told him that if he didn't go in for that shift, then he better not go back in at all. Needless to say, even if I lose my current job, I'm not applying there.

My late grandmother used to work at a Walmart when I was little. Didn't last long. And she refused to step into a Walmart ever again (until a few years before her passing).

I worked at Walmart and it is TERRIBLE!! I actually passed out and had a bunch of other medical problems I had, had a stroke before at 34 they knew I had medical problems. Yet when I thought I was having another stroke and found out I have MS and told them when I collapsed in the electronics department and the manager who could have cared less asked does HR (Human Resources) know? I seriously almost yelled at him using colorful language. They could care less if you dropped dead on the floor. My neurologist worked for them too told me to quit so I did and my next job I lasted six days before my new boss told me to get on disability before I kill myself and why did Walmart not see I was not faking it, attention seeking, a whole bunch of other things it was so bad I now have to see a counselor for a form of PTSD I got from them. Thinking I’m useless all the time.

I'm so sorry you went through that Mindy. I heard someone in my community said they were repeatedly told they were "expendable." My jaw dropped at that and some of the horror stories I got within my community alone. Good on you for doing a bit of counselling! That's very pro-active and it can potentailly help a whole lot. I work at a Kroger and while it wasn’t on this list I would like to share some of my experiences working at Kroger. 1: had a manager telling me I couldn’t wear a epi-pen holder when working on carts because it went against dress code 2: had a manager refuse to give me a refund when I bought an expired pretzel 3: had to stop doing my job to finish a job of another coworker because he didn’t want to do it 4: nearly been ran over many times by impatient drivers (thankfully I never have) 5: had someone literally throw an avocado at me 6: had someone wearing an apron literally try and steal alcohol 7: had someone show up in our parking lot claiming to be a member of the dmv/bmv 8: had to work late on Christmas Eve 9: had a manager tell me that icey roads were not an excuse to not show up at work 10: had a coworker literally urinate on the walls in broad daylight and keep his job even after being caught

As a former Walmart Employee who got paid 18$ per hour but constantly gave me hours I couldn’t do. I’m a college student so I can’t stay for late nights but constantly gotten those hours.

My brother is a department manager, been there for decades, has 3 kids to care for and a 4th in college. The fact he can't get two days in a row off (nobody at any of the 3 stores here in town do), and they constantly rotate his schedule is just rage inducing. People who work for Walmart aren't assets to be taken care of, they're a nuisance to be dealt with harshly. Bad management and it's going to bite them in the ass one day.

​@@phantomstrider I am surprised you didn't give Kmart an honorable mention here. Even though most of the Kmart stores are closed everywhere. Back in 2016 , I wanted to work for a Lego set. It was " Sir Fangar's Sabertooth Walker" from Legends of Chima. It was a bit pricey on Amazon. So I found out that Kmart had the better price. So we ordered it. But it sadly never arrived. I waited everyday after that day ( even until 2017). My parents went to the location in late 2016 to see why it was taking so long for the item to get delivered . But all the staff said was " oh sorry we don't have it" . We got a refund but I never got a replacement for the set I waited long for. A few years later ( around 2018) that location closed down.

The stickers at Dollar Tree are a great value. Although there is more candy than any good nutritional food. It’s always messy, but for projects it the store to hit up.

I know they have a lot of candy because it's cheap to produce, but what about dried or canned fruit and veggies? Maybe some pasta, rice, and jarred sauces and gravies? It could be really easy to expand the grocery offerings to nutritious stuff while still keeping the prices cheap, but the dollar stores just refuse to do it. It's stupid.

As a retail worker, I am one of the lucky ones I do not work for any of the companies talked about in the video. But since the pandemic, I would say that although most people are decent, polite and a joy to help. There is a growing number of just horrible people who are never satisfied, whose day sucks and you WILL KNOW about it and they will make your day miserable because how dare you be smiling? It's a small group of people but sometimes when you get a few in a row, it affects you because you are a human being. When I am a customer, I do try to help people when I see they are being harassed by these kind of people (yes even at Walmart) when I feel the poor clerk is just trying to do his or her job. It's not his or her fault, they are either understaffed (a growing concern everywhere) You don't have to insult an employee just because you wanted an item and they are out of it. Most likely it's not that poorly paid employee's call to staff up the place. You have a gripe, take it to management after you've calmed down and explain what happened. Not just say: That Jamie was no help at all you should fire them. Unless the employee has been really rude, most time, they don't know what to say when even their superiors won't back them up. I get frustrated too, I am human but since I have been on the receiving end, I try to take a deep breath and calmly observe my options. They don't have what I want, it sucks yes, but I can go to another store. I said to one of my friends: Everyone should work in customer service at least once in their lives, they would be nicer to the employees and have a little more empathy to another human being. That being said most people are great and it's great to help them out. It's the small group of angry people what can make you feel bad so focus on the positive people and stop angry, just plain bad mannered people have any power over you.

I would put Burlington on my list, but that's probably because I'm being biased. The Burlington I work at has terrible management. Sometimes, they get the schedule wrong. They change your schedule without asking. They never tell us when they are making changes in the store. The list goes on. When it comes to shopping, it's very unorganized. Like, stuff are put in the wrong places and it's always a mess. Granted, these problems aren't for every Burlington, which is why I don't know if I would put it on my list, but it really isn't a good experience.

It is a mess of a store, however I can’t state how much I love the variety in there with prices that a college student like me can actually afford. Most of my wardrobe right now is from Burlington.

I'm surprised that Target is known for bad refund policies considering the numerous time my mom wanted to return items and they response not only gave her her money back but also didn't want the item returned. Once she tried to get 1 more cereal box as they had only sent 14 out of the 15 ordered and unprompted they sent another batch of 15 boxes for free.

So the soda thing from DT; thats not a store issue, that's a vendor issue. Its the vendors' job to check and rotate soda stock.

That's assuming the vendors are making deliveries. I mean, if they aren't pushing product, they aren't getting new in, so the vendor isn't really able to check if they aren't being sent there.

@@Craxin01 Not really, the vendors are supposed to come by on clockwork, normally it's like every Monday or Thursday. The store managers aren't responsible for any sort of reports, that's all on the vendors. Beer, Pepsi/Coke, and chip vendors are all responsible to cycle their product in stores like DG, DT, and so on.

@@Craxin01 It's a corporate thing, not a franchisee thing like how since Pizza or Burger places might outsource ingredients from places other than the chain. I've worked at three different Dollar Generals, and two Dollar Trees; they all had the exact same/very similar cycling schedules every week. I've had some lazy and shitty vendor delivery people though, one of which would show up, and then just leave all their stuff at the front door nearly half an hour, come to the front and spit dip into a trash can(and all over the floor in the process) and then rush through the process like we were inconveniencing him. Reported him of course, never saw him again afterwards.

Hot topic is one of stores I dislike. They steal designs from small businesses and such and claim it to be their design when you could go support the real business. Oh I didn't know this! i bought a couple of BattleBots shirts from HT and love them. I saw other shops with them, but from what I saw, none were from the official BB teams (the ones in question were Duck! and Gruff, both were Xmas themed, but Gruff was moreso due to wearing a Santa hat); And the prices were super (okay, MORE) expensive from other shops, HT had a sale. Both shirts are holding up though, compared to a Kylo shirt I had from Walmart that fades with every wash; I've definitely worn Duck! a bit. Though a shop I've realized that is...At least in my current area...Somewhat controversial is Spirit of Halloween. Tbh, I think this even happened a few years ago, before I moved to my current location, but TLDR: They don't have costumes that fit plus size people. I wanted a vampire costume and while I was able to (barely) fit in it, it was so tight, I feared making a wrong move and ripping right through it. I was at least a 2X at the time (I'm not anymore, I'm actually a medium now). It was rather uncomfortable to wear for a long time, and it still irritates me to see people on socials saying that they don't support the "fluffy" people. As a former plus size, I feel this pain (and that anger still stands!), and felt like even Hot Topic was the same at a time! Maybe I just saw cool shirts though and didn't really notice all the sizes. xD I also heard that at least the one in my current location don't pay their staff or something like that as well...I can't say too much on it since I never went in last year. I bought my costumes from online stores and the thrift store I work at.

My friend almost took a job at Walmart. Thankfully I managed to convince them to look elsewhere when I told them there was a very high chance they would be treated horribly. Though sadly, they ended up at Gamestop.

I'd like to see a list for the most loved retail stores, especially for people like me on a shoestring budget!

Got a dollar general in my town. Its mess. Barely anyone works there and they just closed down the bathroom because they are sick of cleaning it because some people messed it up on purpose

I love your non cartoon related videos. Not that I dislike cartoons or anything, I enjoy them, but I always like hearing you talk about things like restaurants and various stores. It's nice to hear someone from another part of the world talk about the things that are so common in my day to day life that I never really put much thought into them before. You even got me thinking more cautiously about the things I eat with your fast food videos considering I work in an area that's basically a food desert!

I have a feeling that we'll be talking about retail stores for a bit now. I'm not complaining, as I really like the videos where you go over this stuff. I'd like to hear you talk about the 10 failed/discontinued retail stores next if you're gonna keep the retail store stuff going.

Yay, I was wondering when this video was going to come out ever since the Twitter post! I never knew Target was hated nor overpriced, I’ve always had good experiences with it but it’s good to know other’s experiences. As for the end of the video, while I very much enjoyed the days of you talking about cartoons, I also enjoy your newer videos on more branched out subjects. It just gets me all the more pumped for what’s going to be discussed next!

I'm currently working in Kroger as a custodian, and it is a brutal job. I am the only custodian in the whole store. Once I'm done for the day, NO other employees, mostly young people who work up front, don't do any other cleanings if needed. What's even worse is the number of things I was told to do each day and almost expected to be all done within 8 short hours of my shift. One of the worst things to do is using a cleaning machine to clean the restrooms. You have to make sure that you clean all around the toilets, the walls, the sinks, and the stall walls. Make sure the hand scope and Toliet paper are filled. Finally, make sure all the water is vacuumed up from the floor and sure sure is dry. Now, the store's restrooms are a little dated, so cleaning the floors is a bit difficult when a puddle forms on the floor. And there's four total restrooms. That's the tip of the iceberg. Here's some list of things; Cleaning the milk doors, both top and bottom, inside and out. Level the salt Sweep the outsid on the sidewalk, curd, and the whole parking lot. And sweep the whole inside of the store. Take out all the trash. Clean up any other mess. Clean the break room. And on top of it all, make sure you help with bagging and getting carts. And, for once a week, deliver supplies to the departments. And now, I have to laundry for the store. Washing the mop heads and dust mop heads because the people who used to do them have stopped taking care of them.

Hell, didn't know any modern retail store even had dedicated custodians. Last time I worked at one, they just told one of us to go clean something, even if it wasn't our regular job.

I will never work at Walmart again. The store I worked at was constantly in violations of OSHA and ADA it was unreal. I suffered a shoulder injury there due to a pallet clipping me after my “team” refused to help me get a pallet down. I suffered many anxiety / panic attacks on the salesfloor in front of customers because the store would deliberately put me in situations that triggered them. They would also repeatedly force me to heavy lift despite the fact that I could not do it anymore which led to me being unable to even do daily tasks without help now. But in response to customers complaining about cleanliness in Walmart, it is really hard to clean and tidy up that place because of staffing issues and the front end dragging others out of their departments to cover registers way more than they should. So people aren’t being kept in the departments they were hired for and after a while, they quit because if they wanted to be a cashier, they would have chosen the cashier position.

Problem with Dollar Tree is they jacked up the prices

The U.S. dollar doesn't go far as it used to,many many years ago. Almost nothing is a dollar anymore. Except the batteries. And those will only last fifteen minutes,and then... nothing at all. As the old saying goes : You get what you paid for. I wouldn't shop as any Dollar Tree,compared to Dollar General and Family Dollar, it's downright depressing. The canned foods are questionable - at BEST!😅. And the snacks are a-plenty. But anything else........ uhhhhhh.....no. I'd simply go somewhere else. You can get a Hot-&-Ready pizza from Little Caesars for just five dollars and some change. Plus tax. It doesn't cost no more than five dollars and sixty eight cents. It's a lot better than the crap Dollar Tree has.

@@SuperRat420 Then they'll be selling smaller and smaller and\or selling fewer and fewer products. The rate of inflation means that, pretty soon, a dollar won't buy much of anything. And the sick thing is, economists and the government WANT a steady rate of inflation, because they believe it stimulates spending as the dollar you earn today will be worth less tomorrow but the product you buy today will be more steady.

I'll be honest I shop at Dollar Tree often. Mostly buying storage bins and office supplies. It's across the street from my university. I hardly interact with the staff, kind of an introvert. At Walmart I get uncomfortable when staff stare at me at the self service check out. I mean I get it but still. Target is wayyy to pricey and Home Depot straight up sucks. Anyway, nothing makes me happier that having you upload a new video! ❤❤❤

Trust me the local GameStop has gone downhill. I swear one time I went there to buy a couple of figures for my collection and it took two guys to handle one return. I don`t know if they were new or not but it took two guys to do it and a line formed as a result. Didnt buy any figures from them and I just left.

Thinking of it, I remember nowadays my gripe would be that half the time, the cashier is just standing there yacking about what the customer could get on their XBox Live or something...Like, not even trying to sell, per se, it's just "Yeah, I've played (game) and I really enjoy it. It has this, that, and the other thing blah blah blah" and I'm standing like...2 or 3 other people away just wanting to buy a single Pokemon game or even nab a ticket for one of the Mystery Gifts. Bro, I don't have time to listen to your talking about Call of Duty! It could even be with another employee, and I'm just standing waiting for the line to move...It's definitely harder when I'm on a time crunch and NEED to get moving quick! That trip could've been almost 30 seconds...Nah, make it 10 minutes...

Part of gamestops problem is they want to be the middleman for the secondhand market which would be fine, but they want to have a quota which is just the people at the top chasing numbers over making sure staff is treated well.

I used to work at walmart recently. I tried my best to be helpful and friendly, always coming up to people checking out and making sure they were happy... to mixed results. I was called a garden variety of slurs, physically intimidated, and the managers did nothing about it. I was nearly assaulted by a crazy woman who got mad that I dared to check her ID for alcohol and despite her spitting in my face about to beat my ass, my manager just watched and did nothing! They also punish you for working a few minutes overtime.

14:59 Target USA employee here. My store is pretty decent, actually, especially since the managers are nice, but a thing I've seen is that there seems to be a disconnect between efficiency and guest service. They want us on the floor doing tasks, and at the same time, servicing guests, but in every department except Front End, if it isn't busy, your tasks are pretty much done, and if it is, you're screwed. I work Front End, and my store is a small place, so it should be a piece of cake, right? Nah, we need to sign off on tasks, and considering 75% of guests at my store refuse to use self-checkout, as well as only 1 person babysitting 12 machines that may throw a tantrum worse than Cailiou, most of those tasks are not getting done unless you're working the first 3 hours of store opening or the last 3 hours of store closing. Also about the phone calls to the store: keep in mind that if you ring a specific department, it'll ring either the HR department or whoever has phone privileges. Now, TMs are not really allowed to answer calls since we don't have the proper permissions but that's my store, and 9 times out of 10 the call will never get picked up. Also the refund policy changes by store; mine doesnt return without receipt or card (some exceptions apply) and we can't return more than $150 by cash. It's to avoid scams, but like, even I dislike this policy. We can't have nice things, and Target wants to have nice things, but it gets ruined by theft and scams, and we're screwed as TMs because then we have to say to guests that the policies changed, and get a manager who may override that policy just to shut the guest up, and make us TMs look worse than newbies. It's the main complaint I've seen in the r/Target sub. That, and the fulfillment issue. Don't get me started on the fulfillment team on that sub.

I had a brief stint at Walmart where I'm pretty sure I was the youngest doorgreeter in the company. It was an odd experience. Everyone acted like Sam Walton was going to rise from the grave and come in for a spot inspection. Gamestop was the worst place I ever worked outside of call centers. I was hired on as a full time manager and had to regularly fight to get full time hours. They also misreported my wages and got audited by the IRS. I was crying so hard talking to the tax agent, most of the call was them reassuring me it'll be okay and we'll work it all out.

I am currently an employee at Walmart and I would like to clarify something. For context I work in OGP (OGP are the employees who go around the store picking the items you purchased and who then load the items into your vehicle when you have arrived to get them) and I want to say that the delivery drivers are not Walmart employees. We contract out the drivers from a separate company and as a result some of the drivers can be pretty sketchy. It's fine if you want to order online and pick up in person, but you should never pick delivery. You have random strangers who don't even work for the company you bought from having acess to all of your belongings to do whatever they want with before they get to you. Theft most certainly happens. Tampering with food probably happens to. But there is nothing the store can do Walmart corporate picked the cheapest delivery service, and this is what results. And whatever you do, do not choose the delivery in your home option. That is one of the dumbest possible things you could do, for context that is when random strangers enter your home to "deliver" your items (more than likely you will come home to find your home stripped of all your personal belongings). Just remember that it's not the local stores fault for whatever the delivery drivers do

Former Walmart employee and i can confirm the pay wasn’t worth it. When i moved to the overnight stock shift they had a ridiculous standards to stock some aisles like the sporting goods and pet supplies seriously they wanted me to restock sporting goods which did mean literally carrying dumbbells and weights along with the small things like darts and gloves and all that good stuff in a half an hour. These were legit weight lifting dumbbells not those 5 or 10lb walker dumbbells these were 25lb+ in some cases even 60lb dumbbells and there was something like 20 so i got tired quick it was terrible and they had the nerve to get upset i couldn’t do it alone in 30mins i was glad i got fired cause i make 3X in a week today at a real company than i did in a month working for Walmart

I really hated how gamestop used to only sell consoles through bundles. I mean I just wanna buy the system by itself I didn't want all the other accessories to go with it and to pay $200 extra.

11:33 I was listening to a guy calling Dave Ramsey because he had $5,000 in Gamestop, but when the stock story happened, he sold the stocks for $46,000. He asked Dave how to press forward because he was stunned that he had this much money overnight.

12:30 true you can do that for videogames, but don't forget GameStop also sells board games, card games, and rpgs That and even if you play videogames digitally, if you want any consoles, merchandise, controllers, or accessories you STILL have to go to a physical store And the top two most popular stores fo go for games, weather it be videogames or tabletop, are GameStop and Walmart

I'm a biker who has to ride on the side of a highway to get basically anywhere since I don't have a car. The people who built the Dollar Tree on this highway made the dirt so uneven and innavigable I've burst multiple tires from all the uneven drops and bumps on it. They also left a lot of the netting stuff used in construction around their store, causing it to get tangled up in my chains. I've even seen a bird get wrapped up in them! Now I just walk my bike across it. It's messed up beyond belief

I went to a Walmart just recently to do a bit of grocery shopping. Not only were numerous items I was intending to pick up out of stock, but I had noticed that some of the fresh produce was past its expiration date. My sister and I prefer going to the grocery store closer to us instead of going to Walmart for groceries

I remember noticing that some yogurt I got from Walmart was past its date by a little bit. Whether it was still safe or not, since it wasn’t even close to as long as what we heard from Dollar Tree horror stories. But I still got nervous that I decided not to eat the yogurt.

Fun fact; Target goes back to 1962 but the actual company is much older. It was originally the Drayton Corporation which started in 1902 with Target being the big 60th anniversary event I guess. It was originally a clothing store of sorts and the Target name was kinda a joke. It was a more TARGETed version of their former store since it used to sell just clothes and a few bits snd bobs but now sold everything you’d expect a department store to have. As retail shifted away from local stories and towards the big box category, Target became the main part of the business but still a subsidiary. They didn’t actually become the Target Corporation until January 2000. George Drayton even started the Drayton Foundation, a kinda humanitarian charity, which now exists as the Twrget Foundation. Remember, this is back in the day before corporations began truly giving the middle finger to employees. You can thank the Cold War and clamp down on unions and overall human rights for beginning the extremely sharp decline in Capitalism. How does that work? Unions are for the people, not the corporate establishment; if anything, they’re the opposite. And what’s another word for people? A commune; AKA Communism. It’s hard to imagine today but it was feared giving people such abominable prizes as equal pay and something resembling a half decent work week would lead to an American reenactment of the February Revolution. This was the same era as McCarthyism which was designed to keep the left suppresssed by any means necessary. The entire corporate idea was keep the workers suppressed, keep them from rebelling and just hope for the best; it’s a major reason the hippie culture came to exist. With a kind of open season to abuse workers for maximum profit, companies ran with it and never looked back.

As a person who live close nearby at Walmart as I could go walking for groceries, I just still seeing the Pops at electronics that haven't restocked for days or even months.

One thing that is sad about Dollar Tree is that even if a town did switch one of the stores out for a grocery store, people's taste buds have become accustomed to the unhealthy food, grocery stores are far more expensive to buy from in small towns, and people can't afford to pay two or three, hell even 1.5 times the amount for the same products. Especially in this day and age. It is ridiculous how much prices have gone up. Also if they want cheaper products (which are getting higher in price, as stated) at grocery stores like Walmart, they need to have transportation to get there, and unfortunately, many people can't afford to fix, buy, and/or pay for car insurance these days. It is sad that we are trapped in this loop... Buy cheap ass foods or spend a lot of your income getting to and buying quality food. 😢 And we are forced to survive in a capitalist society, so us complaining about not being able to live comfortably is not unacceptable like some people would argue. I hate capitalism and if I had a choice, I wouldn't be living in America. 😵‍💫 This just reminded me that I need to take an item back to Target for a refund. Lol I have no issues with Target. I like how if you order online, you can use PayPal pay in 4. It helped me pay for holiday gifts and kids clothing with ease.

That's a good point. Dollar stores definitely offer more affordable prices than many grocery store's fresh food. I just wish those in poverty could be given the option. You're right transport is another big issue which creates that poverty gap. As is health care being unaffordable, leading to an even wider gap. I hope we live to see a UBI, but I'm not holding my breath 😔

As a person who worked for both walmart and home depot. My experience at walmart was worst but you asked about working at home depot. At the time, they were my only job. I was a cashier. When i first started they wouldnt listen to my availability. I kept putting it in the system amd they kept denying it. We were hounded to ask customers to sign up for credit cards. I tried at first but i kept getting people who would cuss me out for even asking. So i stopped asking cause it wasnt helping my social anxiety. They accused me of lying about how custimers were answering. They would then watch me and even saw how some customers were rude as hell. They did not care. They told me to just toughen up. They would randomly give me only 5 hours a week. When you ssked for more hours. Theyd tell u to cross train and then when you tell em which departments youd cross train at, they wouldnt let you. And my quitting point was the maltreatment of customers got worse during pandemic and they didnt care. Hell, my store didnt care bout the pandemic policies. I could go on and on but thats what i remember from top of my head. Worked for them from feb 2019 to july 2020

I wanted an action figure that was only available on Walmart. I don’t live in America or anywhere where there would be a Walmart. So I had to buy my figure from eBay. The seller shipped the figure to me in the original packaging where it had shipped to them first from Walmart, but the figure’s box was destroyed. It had a giant hole in the back, which bummed me a lot because love putting the figure boxes on the wall with the back showing. The figure boxes have very nice back designs. But you can’t display a box with a giant hole on it 😔 I don’t know if it’s Fully Walmart’s reason, but I have never had this issue with anything else I have bought from eBay. They usually have treated my packages nicely. And I don’t think an eBay seller that buys a figure just to sell it, would puncture a giant hole on it. But you never know and it’s useless to theorize really 🤷🏻‍♀️ The most important thing is that my figure was flawless✨ it was just the box

I worked at a dollar tree for less than a month and it was the second worst job I've had. I had a guy nearly get physical with me for not moving the line along quick enough when I was the only person working up front (I had just turned 18, Female btw). We also had a homeless loitering issue and I had a customer demand me to go outside and shoo away a creepy man standing outside of the building, in which i didnt and had my manager come up and deal with the customer. My shift was always understaffed and I've dealt with some of the rudest people at that store.

I was a Wal-Mart employee from April 2014 to December 2019. For a while, I enjoyed my job. On my last year, I was a cart stocker, and there was one day that really took a lot out of me. On this particular day, both sides were out of carts and I was the only stocker available. I wanted to be able to take my break, but I couldn't until each side had a serviceable amount of carts. As if that wasn't enough, I was called for a carry-out when the people knew I already had more work than I could handle on my own. It was that day that led to me putting in my two-week advance notice before leaving.

I've watched your videos for a few years and I actually enjoy how you explore topics outside of cartoons/animation.

As a collector of the Pokémon tcg, Walmart has always been a place I search and the amount of times I e gone and basically all of their products are already opened and stolen from is insane

I still remember overhearing my middle school classmates talking about what they stole from a local Walmart, and that sparked some of my irrational paranoia I have to this day!

Gamestop has basically become a glorified Pokemon TCG store. They charge 12 bucks for shipping, so your 60 (potentially 70) dollar game is now 80+ dollars because of taxes and shipping if a store doesn't carry it. Let's not forget the new rewards program that gives a temporary $5 coupon per month while removing the 10% off used games (use to be 20%) and extra trade credit.

Oh, I went to a Walmart in NJ that did the same thing. The membership prices are nuts, only for you to earn less than nothing! I'd argue Target Circle has more value, and that's free!

I enjoyed today’s video. I also was shocked that some stores that I’ve been to were on the list. Not to jinx myself but, my experience at most of these stores were actually good.

I personally feel like location could be a contributing factor. Tiny towns like where I live? Eh, probably gonna be okay - or if it's anything, it's a customer acting out. Places like Austin and Las Vegas? I bet they're something completely different... Like I feel like I could easily work in a smaller town/city compared to San Antonio or Chicago. The thought of working in a large city makes me shudder...

My mom and I hate Walmart. We don’t go there a lot, but on the very rare times where we have no choice, my mom and I hear a screaming child every time. Every. Time. We’re just looking for a cheap price for school supplies, and then bam, a bratty child screams or cries. Looking for clothes for cheap, bratty child screams/cries. And I have to agree with checking out items. 10 checkout lanes only 2-3 open with long lines. And it always feels unclean.

Towards the end of my employment at Walmart I had a coworker who had gotten a very serious concussion and was out of work for a while. When he eventually came back his doctor gave him a note that said he had to be on light duty and had to be sitting down as much as possible or else he’d run the risk of passing out, so management had him be a door greeter, but they refused to give him a chair, he was standing there for hours with nowhere to sit and was very clearly on the verge of passing out. Eventually it got so bad that he radioed to the front desk pleading with them to give him a chair but one of the cashiers who also worked the front desk, she wasn’t a CSM, ran over to him and screamed at him, she said “they’re busy” and that he needs to get back to work and to stop bothering them. When he told his coach what happened the coach actually sided with the cashier that also works the front desk, and told him he could’ve toughed it out for his shift. I also pointed out to my other coworkers that if he had “toughed it out” like the coach said then you know damned well that they would’ve accused him of faking the whole thing, and I know they would’ve because I’ve seen them do it before with other employees. The employee ended up reporting the whole thing to ethics and turned in his resignation letter, I’m not sure if anything major came from his report, but I did notice the cashier who also worked the front desk was attempting to be nicer to employees and customers after that, she wasn’t doing a very good job of it but it was an attempt. This whole thing was so infuriating to me because it all could’ve been avoided if they’d just gotten him a chair like his doctor said he needed

I can actually confirm your experience with GameStop, Josh. Here in Germany (or at least the little parts of Germany that I have been to *and* visited a GameStop), their employees were always really kind and up for a bit of chit-chat if it wasn't too busy, and they were pretty much always available for questions and other inquiries. Granted, I don't go to GameStop that much anymore, considering that they're turning more into a hub for merch, but I do remember having met great employees almost exclusively.

I'm from Germany and my local Gamestop is awesome. The staff is all super nice and like games. They are really friendly and helpful. Gamestop is also where I got my first Pokemon games (which I bought used), back then Red, Blue,Yellow for 5€ each and Sapphire and Ruby (GBA) for 25€ That was just great ^^ Sadly at one point they stopped selling Gameboy and GBA games, now they only have DS, Wii and newer console games. So not much Retro games. But I love buying merch, Pokemon cards or new releases there. But I would never sell a game to them, you don't get much from them xD

The only times I ever actually sold a game I had no use for anymore was either to a friend or someone over one of the many flea market apps, but I think that Gamestop gives their employees strict guidelines on how much to offer for used games, so sadly you can't even try and sweettalk them into giving you a little more, even though it would be cool ^^

what a surprise to come across this (you do amazing work, with top lists). I have been working on a project that involves retail, & I have been working at home depot since June 2022. I love my job there however.

Jeez, I remember being a kid and going into Gamestops and always wanting a job there because every person I interacted with working there just genuinely seemed to love their job. How could you not if game related stuff is something you enjoy? I didn't even know how horrible the business itself is. I feel bad for the people who have worked there.

I remember Fry's Electronics as one of my favorite nerdy Costco. The one in WA state was already showing problems in 2019 and the pandemic killed it off. Another really fun big electronics computer store was the Incredible Universe in the mid 90s or so. I remember going in, having to get a key barcode thing, my mom getting an ID card and we were scanned by security to get in and it was like a gaming and computer kid's dream. There was a wall full of CRT monitors, all setup to show a big "screen" of some guy playing Doom 2. There were a lot of people walking around and playing with game stations, like Super Nintendos, handhelds, Segas, car audio equipment, boomboxes and walkmans. It was fun.

As someone who lives around areas where Dollar Stores are normally seen, I can confidently confirm that they are the Starbucks of Sh**ty Retail. I could literally drive for 15/20 minutes from where I live and pass at least 3 of those stores. It is actually insane.

Food deserts huh? When Dollar Trees show up like fireworks at the Fourth of July, it might be time to move to somewhere with a reliable grocery store!

Are you going to ignore the obvious correlation between food deserts, Dollar Tree, and low-income housing areas. The people who live in low-income areas can barely afford rent, so fewer grocery stores are built in those areas out of assumption that they can't afford groceries as they would be "too expensive". Therefore, fast food places, dollar stores, and bodegas (or depending on where you live, corner stores) are built in massive drones surrounding them as a source of cheap assessable "food"; those "foods" being junk food, snacks, and fast food items. It's a vicious cycle that prevents low-income families from being able to reliably get nutritional food. So, most people who live in areas where there is a food desert but there a bunch of dollar trees within walking distance can't afford to just up and move somewhere else.

I despise Walmart as a company. Everytime I have to shop there something usually goes wrong. I got accused of shoplifting over my walking stick, and the amount of eggs I was buying. It wasn't even a walking stick they sold.

I remember one time going to Walmart for something and I saw a Walmart worker being rude to a guy just trying to find tampons and asking about what super tampons were. I helped him along with my mother picking the tampons and I said I think the super ones are more absorbent. Girl was so rude, I felt bad for him.

The only reason I still go to GameStop is because I’m one of those people who prefers physical media over digital media.

I will never forget buying a brand new copy of Donkey Kong Country for the Wii from Walmart and the manual not being included.

If the packaging was sealed it could've been a manufacturering error from the vendor and not Walmart itself. Unless that was when video game manuals started to go obsolete. But it was a Wii game so I'm assuming there was supposed to be a manual. Walmart doesn't directly print and package the games, they just sell them. I can definitely understand how that can be annoying especially if you're a collector that cares about their games being CIB but mistakes happen at the same time. I hope it's not a frequent occurrence for you.

I once bought a physical copy of Sonic and Sega All Stars Racing, which had the Sonic and Sega All Stars Tennis disc instead. Luckily, I noticed the mistake before we drove off the parking lot, and my family and I were able to go back to GameStop and get that fixed. …At least that mix-up was much more reasonable than other incidents I’ve heard of

About Gamestop, here in New York most of the gamestops are former Funkolands. Funkoland was my go-to game store in the 90's (in fact one of my friends helped me find one of the last ones that existed in Long Island in 2006 to help me find a copy of Minish Cap when I couldn't find it in any other game stores) so when they turned into Gamestop the transition was relatively easy for me. In some cases even the staff was the same, well, at the time, it's been nearly 30 years after all...

As someone who works at a european grocery store, I have to say I feel satisfied with my job. Biggest issue I have with them is the fact that their schedules are wayyy too rigid (If you're unavailable on a day you have to let them know four weeks in advance which is ridiculous) and the fact that we're constantly short-staffed (which isn't their fault at all, I live fairly rurally so that's not too surprising). Overall, wages are decent, employee treatment is good. I enjoy working here!

Ive personally had a mixed experience in Gamestop i remeber this one woman who worked there who had a problem with me but there was also a man who worked there who was genuinely one of the nicest person i have met

The topic on food deserts seems like a very interesting topic. It's already hard enough for many people to gain access to enough food, without stores like Dollar Tree just offering food that's just unfairly priced and no guarantee it will be fresh. They're just like dangling a carrot in front of the donkey's face, and suddenly launching that carrot into orbit right when the donkey is about to take a bite. That is a reality many people tragically suffer the effects of, and Dollar Tree being one of the main culprits for creating food deserts and had multiplying like crazy rabbits is definitely a cause of concern. And by the way, I think rodents are cute, but I still don't want them infesting places, eating food, destroying infrastructure, and spreading droppings and diseases wherever they go.

This is my favorite youtuber, he's also super cute. learned something today, I always learn something here, but I didn't know there are food deserts. Makes sense why people come into my Winco all the time. We treat eachother pretty well there, Customers and Employees alike. Though sometimes someone might get grumpy, we all have so so days. ❤️

I understand what Strider is trying to say but this is why you always check expiration dates people!!
