Seeing Caillou in handcuffs canonically is so surreal. It's like seeing Big Bird in a jail cell. No matter the context it's hard to grasp.

Yeah, not gonna lie, just the fact that his parents actually stand up and *do something* when he starts acting out is satisfying. I'm glad the writers have realized the main problem with the original show.

I think that the worst Bluey episode in my opinion is “Obstacle Course”, an episode where Bandit, a beloved fiction character is turned into the competitive bragger type who becomes so envious of his child to the point where he cheats his way to win against Bluey

In my opinion the worst episode is "Squash" for similar reasons, Bandit is less mature than his 6 year old daughter and very clearly makes Bingo feel worse by rubbing in that big siblings always beat little siblings. And Stripe only winning because Bluey, the big sibling, makes Bandit lose, removes all the catharsis from the victory. It just annoys me the whole way through, but I know not many people would agree with me about it.

It’s amazing to see the lowest rated episodes of Bluey are still higher than 7 stars. That just shows how much this show is admired. And fun fact, Bluey is tied up with Breaking Bad as the absolute highest rated media overall in IMDB, with 9.5 stars. I’m surprised to see what a legend this cartoon became.

In terms of the two bluey episodes, they may be the worst in the series, but they still do a fantastic job in the end for both parents and kids. They don't shy away from the fact that kids sometimes act bratty, but its shown in a way with the understanding that kids don't act like this out of malicious intent but rather they're just very young & haven't learned yet

I mean, its the same for Winx Club. Ever since Nick got rights for the show, ever since S6 the plots are very more simplistic and the main characters mostly have the same abilities with different forms. S7 with Butterflix is by far one of the worst ones because of how terrible it is. I’m pretty sure the show is now shown on Nick Jr instead of the main channel because the writers are literally the same ones for toddler shows like Blues Clues or Dora the Explorer. At least with shows like Paw Patrol and the other ones here, they’re meant to be slice of life and not the characters growing up or becoming adults. Several tv shows stray from letting kid characters grow up and they only have a handful of episodes where they show a futuristic version where the kid is an adult and is either married with kids or has a career

Especially the idea of having one of the animals be on the spectrum but also have them be a character and NOT a stereotype like every other autistic character in a children's (and even adult) show is. I wonder about Julia from Sesame Street though. I thought the portrayal, at least initially, was good. Thankfully they do reunite in the future as teens as shown at the end of the episode. I really hope they actually do bring Jean-Luc back because he and Bluey have such great chemistry and despite the language barrier between them they were fast friends. As a hardcore bluey fan, ill have to say that the worst episode imo is Obstacle Course. I feel like Bandit is out of character for this. In the episode Yoga Ball, he was written in the way that Obstacle Course should have written Bandit. In Yoga Ball, he didn't realize his strength or how he was making Bingo feel. He didn't realize and when he's confronted, he immediately steps in to make her feel better and to establish boundaries involving playing and making sure Bingo's limits. Thats Bandit at his strongest. But then theres Obstacle Course where he purposly makes Bluey loose in a friendly competition. But then again, this is the most realistic kids show *ever*, and outside that episode, Bandit is the best father in animation history. So its forgiveable that Bandit does end up having an off day cause real parents occasionally have an off day.

Here's something I THINK the writers behind shows for little kids have to deal with: One aspect that we will always like regardless of age is character development. We love seeing our favorite characters fail, learn from their mistakes, and rise better than before. It's a basic formula that works because we can relate to those characters. That's because we also learn from mistakes and grow and tend to go where we feel familiar. However, this has its limits. If a character tends to mess up with really easy stuff, it can become annoying and we can only see an incompetent that we want to disassociate from as much as possible. Now here's a problem. Although little kids are capable of learning, they have to learn stuff that, for us, might be harder to understand why they aren't able to figure it out. And here's where kids' shows struggle with the perception of adult viewers: the shows for little kids have to show characters making mistakes we as adults find idiotic for kids to understand why the stuff the characters are doing is bad. It teaches about bad stuff and shows examples of what could happen. Usually, kids can swallow idiotic moments from the characters because they can't grasp the full picture of why things are dumb. So the writers are put into a corner since they can't upset the parents, but they can not not be teach kids about life.

@@Invisble748 it's not the fact kids need to be taught that people find annoying. We understand that kids need to be taught simple things. That's why we usually don't find most shows made for younger kids entertaining.

"Up, Up, and Away!" was poked fun at twice in later episodes of Thomas; in "Tale of the Brave", Thomas jokingly asks Percy if he's going to take a giant balloon on a flatbed, and in "Dowager Hatt's Busy Day" (which is one giant take that to the Sharon Miller era), one of the jobs that Dowager Hatt gives James is carrying a giant balloon on a flatbed. Neil Ben is ashamed of "Wonky Whistle", to the point where he apologized for it in the Engine Inspector's review of it. He said that while he was amazed that he was recognized for it, he still finds it a real shame since the script he wrote looked very different from the final product, and he has done some pretty good things in his career before and since. I absolutely adore Charades and may be an exception on this one, but personally I found the episode extremely entertaining, but discussing with a friend we came to a marvelous conclussion I have to agree on and that honestly makes the experience be granted by giving it a different perception: He stated "For starters, we see Muffin already supporting her little sister by holding her ice block for her at the beginning of the episode. So it shows her being conscientious of Socks. Then, when the girls start playing charades, we see that Socks is having trouble guessing the answers. She’s then disappointed because she’s having trouble playing the game, and we see her whine and looking sad. Look at Muffin’s body language at that point, right before it’s her turn. She’s looking directly at Socks after she whines. And there’s a clear pause before Muffin gets up to begin her turn. We can possibly argue here that Muffin’s actions was her wanting to make the game easier so Socks could correctly guess the answer, so because of that, she asked for a card that had already been played so Socks would have already had that word in her head and she could think of it better. And, remember, Muffin is only three in this episode, so she likely wouldn’t have the ability to fully articulate to Nana and the others that it was her intention to help Socks play the game. I like imagining the episode as a double parallel. Nana, Bluey, and Bingo help accommodate Muffin, and Muffin is helping Socks play the game and being a good older sister." “Because we have to take care of the littles.” Personally, I agree with his statement, the episode makes Muffin be perceived as a bratty, unreasonable mutt who gets whatever she wants by screeching for it... but, taking this perspective in consideration, was that really her true intention? She was very hesitant on the ballerina card, but was it for her simple selfish intentions... or to give a helping hand to her sister she is seen supporting since the beginning? I'd state by her young age that's partially true... But openly wanting to specifically reenact the ballerina card was rather a desire by her own whim than a helping hand for her sis It's a very nice interpretation, but it might be a mixed purpose handling; she wanted to do the card by her own interest but she also wanted to help her sister at the same time, a win-win taking into account she truly never fully understood the game, so she would actually wanted to make the game easier for both... (again by her young age and poor understanding for the game, she was just three at the moment). Aditionally, the humor (mostly by Bingo's take), Muffin's adorable dance, Nana's speech about her grandma and the overall family bonding vibe... I'm a minority, but it's actually among my favorite episodes My personal pick for the "WORST" episode (note the quotation marks) is Fairies; started off strong with a cautivating conflict but the pacing then becomes messy and convoluted, the tone feels oddly mean spirited for a show like this and the ending is confusing... Then again, I couldn't call it a bad episode and personally this show managed to succeed not delivering a single episode I find appaling or even skippable, I find enjoyment in every single one which is an impopular opinion in it's own right... I'm truly THAT enamoured with the show but that's just me Isn't this show a masterpiece? It truly is, and we needed it more than ever, for real life

I've actually always wanted you to talk about an episode of "PAW Patrol" on your channel, and I don't think I realized how poorly written that "Pups Save Bedtime" felt. You know, the "PAW Patrol" episode that I thought was the worst one they ever did was "Pups Save A Toof". It's basically where the pups have to self-torture with what they're scared of all because a little kid named Alex didn't want to go to the dentist. "Pups Save Bedtime" at least didn't teach children to hurt themselves all because of a whiny kid who was being stubborn. Not to mention "Pups Save A Toof" was a Season 1 episode! Season 1 where every episode was tame and calm and weren't going crazy with ridiculous plot lines.

That guy’s moving mouth and “uncanny” performance of the Macarena made me hate the song for a while, and when it’s not being used… it just sits in the laundry room shelf, menacingly. On the bright side, it didn’t take too long for me to learn to enjoy the song (and how to dance the popular Macarena dance).

I've only seen a few episodes of Bluey, mostly because I'm an adult without kids, but what I have seen seems warm, sweet, and caring as a show. I can see why it's so loved and why it even has adult fans. The one I liked the most of what I saw Bluey and her family are camping out in the bush and Bluey meets a French pup. They don't speak each other's language, but get along and have fun, and Bluey is crestfallen when he ends up leaving. They move ahead in time when she's a teen or adult and she sees him again.

23:42 French here, and I do have that kind of voice myself. I personally find the more stereotypical exaggerated accent pretty funny, but the way that show did it isn't even a good attempt at that. And I agree with what you say about the show itself too; I've seen quite a bit of Paw Patrol in its early years out of nothing-else-to-watch for cartoons back when I had cable, and honestly, it's pretty much a modern equivalent of those "half-hour toy commercial" cartoons that were notoriously everywhere in the 80's. They just kinda get away with it, because technically the show came before the toys instead of visa-versa like those did.

4:09 I think the major question with this Thomas episode is... why the heck are they transporting the balloons already FULLY-INFLATED and insecurely tied down?? Why not put the three balloons together in a little box, along with the helium cannister, and then inflate them AFTER they're safely delivered? LOGIC!! What do they teach in schools these days?

It's a testament to Bluey's good writing that it only has three bad episodes and they're still not THAT abysmal. On another note, one thing that I was and still am kinda worried about in connection with this show is that it shows cute dogs and I'm scared that like other shows and movies of such nature it may lead to people irresponsibly buying heelers and then discovering that, as any breed of dog they have spefcific needs that don't always jive with people's livestyles. and then the shelters end up over crowded with pups people don't want/can't take care of. This ofc is not a shot at the show itself, because it's responsibilty of the people deciding on a pet to familiarize itself with it's needs, but it still always hurts my soul to know that it's an unintended, unfortunate byproduct of animals in shows and movies.

They retaught the moral they already used in Tina, even recalling that episode, because both Bluey AND Bingo forgot, which understandably disappointed Bandit. She wanted to make it reeeeeeeally easy to guess so that her sister would be able to guess it. Early in the episode when they are eating lollies Muffin is holding Sock’s for her and if you pay attention to her body language before she goes to take her turn she’s watching and reacting to her sister being disappointed she couldn’t guess Bingo or Bluey. But she’s three so she can’t really express that very well.

16:16, I never really liked high pitch Thomas as a kid as I was more used to Ringo Starr performing Thomas. I always grew up with him as the definitive voice. I feel like the characters in CGI Thomas should’ve had deeper voices, those Trampy videos are an awesome example of how they should sound.

Dear Phantom Strider, you've really inspired me! I watched your vids throughout high school and it inspired me to start writing for an online magazine in college! Obviously I have a lot of inspirations but it would take all day to list them all but you were one of them I want you to know! I love your videos! They mean a lot! Keep up the good work!

I still don't understand how they got away with the Bob the Builder redesign. Even if they didn't want to keep using stop-motion they still could have used the classic designs and they would have looked better.

I do have some other thomas episodes that I think deserve a mention Apology Impossible (S22): Has a horrible lesson about bullying it makes James out to be the worst person alive Panicky Percy (S23): Percy is insanely out of character here and treats people who have PTSD like they're crazy Rocky Rescue (S19): For an established rescue team in the series, they are just absolutely stupid here Three Steam Engines Gruff (S20): Percy and Toby are horrendously OOC, that's about it rlly I'll let you know if I have more for you to talk about
