The fact they can both find fantastic moves (most of the time) with 3 seconds on the clock is absolute madness.

At 6:51 there was a fork on the rook missed?

Stockfish actually prefers Qg5+, although the fork is in no way bad. After Qg5+, if Nxc5 hadn't been missed Black was pretty much mated. If White plays the fork with Nf8+, Black is actually so bad that giving up the Rook then forcing the Q exchange with Qe3+ after being forked is *better*.

I think Dimitri just played a few passive moves and a couple of not so great ones when he had pretty much the game way in his favor. Magnus didn't win it so much as Dimitri lost it or perhaps gave it.

There is nothing more frustrating in chess than being swindled like this. In blitz games, it is amazing how often the better player manages to do this.

0:09 seconds in and within the first sentence you get straight into the first move e4 Nc6, that must be a record James 🙂. Certainly puts Agamator's 2 minute long introductions to shame, but still watching closely to see if you can beat 9 seconds and still have an intro 😆

Magnus had no business winning this game, I think the pressure of playing (and winning!) against (possibly/likely?) the best ever got to his opponent. Even with low time on the clock missing a mate in two is very unfortunate. Super fun game though!
