Y did the young kid accept the draw? He was ahead a queen?

@@epicchess2021 thx bro. Is there a good answer or is it that if a player like magnus proposes a draw the weaker player “has” to take it? (Which would b very lame)
@trevormenard

@@PashutHerensteinhe thought it was a joke because the pawn can recapture the queen so the position is a draw unless someone makes a crazy blunder (when you’re that good you won’t make THAT bad of a blunder)

Magnus is ahead 2 pawns but they are isolated. Opposite colored bishops are considered drawish by some but actually favor the aggressor which in this case would be Carlsen because of the pawns. Carlsen's Knight can sit on g5 until the cows come home as White has no way to eliminate it without losing the exchange. So white must play for a draw. Magnus just threw him a bone and white took it....and against Carlsen, that's a gift. One other thing, white's bishop is the wrong color to promote his pawn even if it somehow advanced.
I genuinely don't understand what dragnev did wrong from human perspective. He played a near perfect game. Its just he played against magnus

That's how GMs describe playing an engine. Every move is feasible but slowly the engine grips you and squeezes the life out, much like a python. There is no one move that ruined the game, rather they all improve a bit more than you. Not to say Magnus used an engine, rather he is an engine

Yeah the level he brought in this game was really special and Magnus defence also, I feel like the general standard of chess is improving for sure

Even though she has beaten him at times, Judit Polgar has described playing Magnus as "drowning".
It may have only been Tuesday for Magnus but Dragnev must have felt he'd never been more in the flow.

Often, a draw is a win, even for a legend. What a time we live in to have access to these games both live and recapped as in this video. Epic content!

Thanks a lot, yeah Magnus never found too move every time but overall his defence was incredible
As a Norwegian, I prefer to see Magnus win, but when we get to see fireworks like this, a draw or even a loss is also OK :-) Fantastic play from Dragnet. This is art. This is entertainment. This is show business.

Wow, what a performance by this Valentine and what a game!
these king outposts in the center of the board seem to happen often with magnus - perhaps i don't know too much about other players. but he seems to get in these positions where all the pieces and pawns surround the king and take turns defending each other. it's so interesting to watch

@epicchess2021 all good you do an amazing job and such a fitting channel name for the content!
8:43 White missed the winning of the game here. Instead of Qh4 he should've gone Qh2, and if black then repeats what actually happened with Qh4 (Rd8), then Bd6 which if Rh8 takes, then there's no longer any back rank help for the black queen which Rh8 would then win. So Rd8 would pass on taking the bishop, king would have to move to d7, and white's next move would be c5 which would open up the a6 pawn to be taken, and 2 bishops would be hunting the king supported by the quickly rerouted white queen. The d6 pawn played a crucial role in helping Magnus stave off the loss.

I saw this Game earlier I’m glad you pointed out why the knight could not capture the pawn and in the process Black would be able to capture the Bishop I saw it earlier but no mention was made of it the fact the e or d pawn would than threaten the Bishop and Black would lose one of the pieces that was thorough of you to explain that one James tough game Magnus opponent played very aggressively I’m sure he wanted to win this one after all the effort he put into it he almost had Magnus in a bind great counterplay by Magnus though he showed why he’s as great as he is counterattacking and creating his own tempo Thanks for the Game James enjoy rest of day as well 😊♟️💯

Must be so terrible trying to defeat Magnus
"Carlsen's Chess Is Mesmerizing Right Now (But not this game)"

@@epicchess2021 the reason being it's always possible for white to sacrifice a rook for 2 pawns, and that gives a draw. This is why the players immediately agreed.
