    At this point I'm starting to think Magnus doesn't actually remember any openings and just plays on pure instinct hahaha

  • @lifeisawesomelife6971

    He knows all the openings. He plays bad openings because he doesn't like draws or theory.

  • @mayebeline1149

    @mayebeline1149

    Ай бұрын

    He has to remember the openings in order to purposely deviate from them. When neither player can rely on theory, it comes down to calculation, which he's extremely confident in. He gives up some material or tempo, but in exchange he transforms the game into something he's more comfortable with than his opponent. If you're familiar with Jujutsu Kaisen, a disruptive opening is Magnus's Domain Expansion.

  • @Blindeh

    @Blindeh

    I thought thats why he stepped away from classical chess, especially world championship, which is just a grind fest of theory. It's noticeable he also won the tournament where they had random starting positions where theorey has no place.

    when magnus plays this "trash", it's only for a couple of moves, and for the purpose of creating non-standard positions. after that, he plays stellar chess. it's a risky strategy, but it produces dividends.

    ".... for the purpose of creating non-standard positions." Precisely! I'll bet nobody has prepared for some of the openings he produces, which is a huge huge plus for Magnus.

    @@epicchess2021 Thanks for reading the comments and interacting with us...ahem.. below 1000 players.. and the more experienced ones as well! I started playing chess about 2 months ago when I accidentally stumbled across a Magnus Carlson game analysis and was hooked. It's a bit sad that at age 60 it's unlikely I'll ever acquire a respectable rating, because it seems like time is a big factor in reaching Grandmaster territory. However, the awesome thing about chess is that as long as one is playing against someone with a similar rating, the games can be fun and competitive.

    Just imagine winning against magnus and then hanging your queen. I have done the same in tournaments against way higher rated players. I get super excited and my excitement blinds me. Forcing a queen trade while Im up a pawn and a rook, only to realize the pawn that was supposed to take the queen back, was pinned by a sniper on the other end of the board. That feeling sucks! But hey, that's chess. The week before that a lower rated player got me cornered, few moves from a mate, while being up a knight and two pawns, but he moved his king the wrong way while I threw in a desparate check, blundering mate in 1. So it works both ways. Anyway, keep up the good work, love your channel!

    I was going to say, don't you ever tire of being embarrassed by calling Magnus's play "trash" and "garbage" in games he ends up winning easily. Then I remembered you already knew Magnus won when you dissed his play, so you did it on purpose. It's your shtick, your persona, to be made a fool by Carlsen. Whatever gets you the subs, mate! More effective even than trotting out Kramnick and his pathetic cheater accusations.
