A fine summation. Thanks Daniel
I think at this point it's pretty safe to say that Caruana has a double guessing problem whenever he faces Nakamura. And the shorter the time settings, the worse his confidence appears to be during the game. Thanks for your videos!

There was a speed chess championship a while back where, against Fabi, Naka played 1.Nh3 twice and 1..a6 2…e6 (or vice versa) twice. Naka scored 3.5/4 in those games, iirc. I thought at the time ‘that had to leave a (psychological) mark’. 🤷🏻♂️🙏
I bet Hikaru was shocked by Nf5... but Fabi was shocked by what followed.

Why would he have been shocked by the obvious Nf5?

Ok, watched more of the video - you are obviously referring to the 2nd Nf5.
as usual a wonderful annotation from GM King.
Since its Armageddon , Caruana just holding wouldn’t have been enough.
greaat analysing and always with a twist in ya eyes - I love ya kind of presentation! cheers.
love the commentary thanks
Thanks for the coverage
I really like your way to speak, my english isn't usually good enaught to understand technical fast speaking and you have such a right pace! Analysis of course is great too
GM King, I think there were some issues with the audio. Some times it was difficult to hear your voice, it was not loud enough, In any case a great video.
It'd be different in a long match with a classical time control though. I doubt if Fabi will be repeating 8.Be2. Stockfish seems to like 8.Bxd7 Qxd7; 9.Bg5 Nxe4; 10.Nxg7 better for white but quite tricky to remember, I should think, if you're not expecting it. I'm surprised to see that the line with 5...e5 has actually been played a fair bit.
It's funny to me how you seemed to have taken a million years to go from 99k to 100k subs; and now you're on 105k. Good to see you're channel growing. Nice video; I was rooting for Fabi; but Hikaru just understood beter what he was aiming for.
Hikaru in is Fabi's head
Is it garbage if it hasn’t been refuted by the long-time world #2, even when given a second bite at that trashy apple? Perhaps we need to reconsider what we consider rubbish?

naka was almost lost in the previous game in this line, his opp just whiffed it

To be fair Caruana was close to winning the first time around but was probably influenced by the tournament situation (overpressing in the first round of the candidates?), while the second game is at a very fast time control. I think it's perfectly reasonable to see what Nakamura does and say "don't try this at home"; we can't all defend like him.

My comment was largely in jest, since I am not qualified to debate anything chess-related w GM King. I also suspect his use of ‘garbage’ was also in jest.
I can't believe Fabi missed that knight move !!
When I saw the headline about garbage I thought he meant the 14-move draw.
It seems to me, that in this game Caruana repeated his (psychological?) anxieties in games with Nakamura. Especially those with reduced times against a player who is among the very vest in those.
Could it be that Caruana is to Nakamura as Bisguier was to Fischer ?

And Karpow to Kasparow
Fabi is a client for Hicaru

Nd6?
Qe4 is a strange blunder for someone of Caruanas caliber, time pressure I suppose but still wow
