This was a VERY unethical show. They did so many changes to their bodies and faces that some contestants struggled with body dysphoria afterwards. Thank goodness that show was discontinued…

I have body dysmorphia and it makes so much sense for her to have had an awful trigger episode. There's so much physical and emotional stress built up over a year. Lots of criticism and physical pain. Grief that whole time. All of these produce strong emotions and the buildup of stress hormones. Passive stress contributes so so much to dysmorphia episodes. Then you attack it from the social side. Who isn't horribly anxious when you walk past 50 people clapping and cheering at you specifically? And they were all doing this for her body, not her as a person. Then you have a huge anticipation stint where you're waiting to discover your new self IN PUBLIC, not in private as many of us encounter our new bodies. Anxiety + Anxiety + Anxiety = she doesn't recognize herself, her eyes flash to the first thing she hates about her new look, and more than anything she realizes that this revamp did not heal the wound of widow's grief. It's time to dissociate, panic, and cry!!! God I felt so bad for her watching this.

It is so strange! First, when I saw that woman of this show (the show master) I thought it was someone else. Because she looks nearly the same like Heidi Klum. And she moderates an (in my oppinion) very unethical show, too. Like they clone this kind of show masters. Reminds me of the "women of stepford" (was it called like that?).

The thing that really creeped me out about this - well, a LOT creeped me out about this - but the whole idea that she apparently DID NOT KNOW what she was going to look like until she looked into that mirror. That screams that this wasn't her telling the surgeons what she wanted changed and 'fixed,' but more likely them deciding ON HER BEHALF what changes THEY were going to make, regardless of what she wanted - and basically remodelling her like she was their end-of-semester art project. THAT'S HORRIFYING.

Don't know where you got that it's the surgeons who decided what to do. She decided what she wanted to change, they eventually could've suggest what else they can do for her. After surgery there's some kind of results expected but no one know for sure what the end result will be. And even if a person undergoing surgery have an image in their head it's different than actually seeing it with their own eyes. If she didn't want something done to her, no one would perform operation she didn't agree to. She knew exactly each time what surgery she's undergoing. You seriously don't need to write more dramatic scenario to this than it already was.

ever heard of people having had some sort of neurological problem... they wake up one day where they just have a different accent, like being American or Australian, then having a Jamaican accent, or something else... It's not the accent that's the problem, just like Dr. Youn says it's not the surgery per se... But I think you're right, it has this kind of effect.. They just don't associate with themselves anymore... And I think I'd go nuts too...

This is not even all of it. They employed a cosmetic dentist, dietitian and personal trainer. So the contestants are dieting and exercising for weight loss WHILE healing and changing their teeth (one doctor even said that a patient had "masculine teeth" in one episode). They get therapy once weekly, which is not intense enough for someone going through several major cosmetic surgeries, unable to see themselves in the mirror for months, is being pushed to lose weight by exercising several times a week intensely, dieting, and has life trauma.

I had weight loss surgery about 16 years ago and I went from 355 pounds to 127 pounds. I then had a tummy tuck and a breast lift reduction and I also kept it off. After all this time I’m still 137 pounds and I also had a divorce from my first husband who clearly didn’t want a healthy lifestyle and this happens a lot more than they tell you. You also have a mental breakdown after all of this because you have nothing to blame all of your problems on anymore and you have to do some mental work on yourself. I can tell you that after I came out the other side I am much healthier and happier and I wouldn’t change it for anything.

I saw another video about this show and the reviews were not very good. I do believe in plastic surgery procedures, for example, if you have a receding chin that you do not like and it can be fixed medically, then go ahead and have the surgery . What I really find offensive about this show is, you have people looking at you deciding what procedures they are going to do to make you beautiful in their eyes. I always want to be in control on the medical procedures that is going to be done on me. For example I would never never want someone deciding that I need breast implants. Once the show is over the the contestants has to deal with all the medical procedures they had done during the show.

The fact that they do this over only a 2-1/2 month period is also concerning to me. I had a tummy tuck and was told to take it easy and be kind and gentle with myself for 3 months and that I would be about 6 months out before I saw my fully healed results. So these women are not even fully healed and they're going through MULTIPLE procedures at one time. I don't even know how they were able to get around and take care of themselves those first couple of weeks, considering how many parts of their body were just traumatized. Therapy is important, too. But there are different intensities of therapy and I think that at a tike like this, you need a gentle, comforting, reassuring therapy style. But the way they phrased it, "Did she put in the work?" Sounds like more intense therapy where you're digging deep and facing deep painful emotions and issues and I don't think this is the time. I think the time for that is well before surgery.

What also makes me sad about the contestant's reactions is, they all seem happy and they all are sayign they're more confident and have better self esteem... just because they "look" prettier? That's all? What about a deep work on your inner self? What about having hobbies or a fulfilling career? Or even family, friends, pets, anything? That's all there is to their happiness: their appearance?

Ironically, that was the show that taught me plastic surgery is a necessary profession. There was this one "contestant" with a weird nose that turned out to be extremely malformed and had those odd brown holes everywhere in the - what's the English word for the not yet bone part - when they opened it. The surgeon said that she would have needed plastic surgery anyway.

thsi is my comment from before and after of pictures. They don't show it properly. They make you wear ugly clothes and no make up and they make you frawn in the before picture. Than the after picture, they make you smile and wear nice clothes and they put make up and fix everything including your hair. SO how can we see the exact difference of the surgeries when they don't do the same in both pictures? it's hard to see the result. They should be no make up in after as well, same coz all we need to see is the result of surgery not the make over make up.

I think God created all of us to be unique and diverse in talents. I'm not against plastic surgery however when undergoing these procedures we need to go into the surgery for the right reasons so you don't lose sight of yourself. Dr. Youn brings out a important point. A person might need some counseling not only after but before so you can be a good candidate for surgery. That woman he was showing looked nothing like who she was beforehand. Kinda sad really no reversal and will she be able to maintain the look if she likes it. So much to consider and think about. No good to change everything thing about yourself if you can't except you in the first place.
