We have 20* modular buildings since the Cafe Corner was released in 2007 and instead of ranking them in order from least favorite to favorite, Colin classifies them based on which ones were the most influential and game changing. I am always bemused by the way some people felt toward the Downtown Diner. That was my first modular. And remains my favorite.

Same here! I had coveted the modulars since the year the first one released, but Downtown Diner finally got me to bite the bullet and pick one up!

At the 'Gamechanger' chapter, you got the 'Status Quo' title. But great video! This is a fresh take on the modular comparison video genre. Really nice!

I am currently on a modular kick. I have the cafe corner that I got for my 12th birthday. Then 15 years later I got the boutique hotel. Felt very fitting to get another corner hotel as my entry back to Modulars. I am currently trying to get as many as I can at retail and I unfortunately missed out on police station. Love the history lesson featured in this video. Thanks !!

The “town plan” set that came out right before modulars started, IMO was game changer in sense it’s success helped lead to the modulars, Jamie designed that set too, and I feel like it was basically his early concept for what later became, the town hall, palace cinema, and corner garage modulars, which he also worked on, I always look back at that set like🤯

12:15 That's commendable. Usually, people make direct inferences from the numbers without going through the - extremely high 😉 - effort of running basic statistical tests. (Guess, as you did not mention it, the significance level was 95%?)

My favorite modulars are the detectives' office, the diner, and all of them after the corner garage.

So the last game changer modular set is from more than 5 years ago? Which means it's getting more and more difficult to get a new game changing set.

The museum looks so much better tan!

Too many brown and tan sets. By itself tan looks much better, but if you're into the whole series, olive is very interesting and makes it stand out.

Even tho it’s like one of my least favorite I def would consider pet shop “game changer”, cause it was first to do the 2 half base individual buildings, which I feel like went on to greatly inspire alternative builds of open back sets into modulars, and Mocs

Do the older modular buildings like the detective office or something (pre Icons series) fit with the newer ones like the natural history museum? Meaning, do the sidewalks and everything line up as they should?

Yes they do. All modulars can be lined up together. Some look better together than others, but the connection places are compatible for all.

The sanctum sanctorum is not a modular building and I don’t like it being in this list. If it were to be an official modular building it should be put in the game changers category because it would be the first licensed IP modular.

In terms of continuity, the diner ruins everything. It essentially pushes the timeline forward 2 decades, into postwar archtiecture which is mostly garbage. It's the only building that's completely out of place in the lineup, which is why a lot of people who care about architecture hated it. As a standalone it might be wonderful but as a modular it doesn't fit
