Every summer, in my town, when the snow has melted an original Manx can be seen ripping around town. It has the Stinger exhaust and nice mag wheels - perfect vehicle for a hot summer night !

I remember my dad build one of the first Manx’s back in the day. He also built a Meyers Towd buggy kit when they were first introduced. I think my built over 25 custom buggy’s for people. I helped after school and learned a lot.

Growing up a lady down the opposite corner of our block her son had bought a Manx dune buggies ( blue) and had gotten called for service and never made it back it sat for years with a cover in the side yard. Wasn't even close in years to buy . But love ❤️ at first sight appearance.

your tool tip was definitely a good tip, I have a 3/8 drive ratchet made by Husky tools that has a extending handle that makes it about 4" longer, and it adjusts to multiple sizes in between. I have also put a 3' pipe on that ratchet handle and pushed on it with my foot without breaking it ! I will never part with that ratchet.

I have a Proto 1/2" drive long-handle ratchet that has survived more egregious abuse than any breaker bar I've ever owned. I'm pretty sure it's made of adamantium with kryptonite gears, haha! I've jumped on that thing with a cheater pipe on it (I'm not a real big guy, but 150 pounds jumping on a 4' lever is still a LOT of force), never a complaint. The best part is that I found it in the web of a beam in a powerhouse I was working at, so it cost me nothing. If I'd bought it, I probably wouldn't treat it so mean, haha!

Built my own out of a vw when I was nine, 1965. Boat racks and never shortened it so I could carry my outboard motor in the back. Due to the flat bottom I could actually skip across small rivers if I hit the water at about 55-60 mph. Had a blast. First time I was ever pulled over by the police. The officer shouldn't outta have down that cause it cost him big time.

...always down for tool tips however I just use a proper breaker bar because 'tool-abuse' lessons beat into me as an apprentice....... Admittedly I still use the old wrench-on-wrench trick for extra tight space leverage though......

Bruce Myers was certainly a pioneer of the kit car business in the USA, but he hardly invented the concept. Colin Chapman was doing it over 10 years earlier, and the Lotus (Caterham from 73) Seven has been available since 1957.

I always wanted one of them. But as a teenager in the 70's in WV. And since they were no longer made after 1971? The only way to get one was to buy one that had already been completed. The only problem there was money & availability of the dunebuggy.
