My personal favorite Krieg mini (who I have lovingly named Hanz Shovelson) unfortunately lost his bayonet when charging a chaos titan. Due to the Emperors will (and some VERY lucky melee rolls) he was able to take the titan down and win the battle.

The single best ending to an auspex video yet

Thank you so much for doing this one! It's always fun to go over the meme list that should really be an appendix of the actual Uplifting Primer, by now. I never expected Guard to be made as competitive as they are now, what with every other faction needing to be able to threaten them, and justify the existence of the Space Marines, and I have no idea if 10e will "reset" them to a more middling, benchmark level, but for now they get to live up to a lot of these memes, and I love it!

They aren't supposed to make armies weaker or stronger depending on how powerful they would be if their tabletop armies were fielded in lore.

@@primalreversion7034 I totally agree with that, but sometimes feel that they do, anyway, in much the same way that they do for sales/profits, or at least I feel that was, in part, how Guard worked for many years prior to their current success. I certainly could be wrong; I don't play competitively, and much of my takes on things is merely influenced by the words of such content creators, but it's my take on it, anyway.

@@venkelos6996 Astra Militarum isn't a joke in lore either, it's based on misunderstandings because their soldiers are weaker on an individual level. They find strength in numbers and it actually seriously does work

@@primalreversion7034 Oh sure. I've been a Guard fan since 4e, so I feel I know how good Guard can be. On the other hand, their 9e showing does seem to be a bit more impressive than they often had been, in the past, and some of the silly memes that xan make them famous are legit things they can do, right now. 😊 For me, the issue with Guard has always been GW; they aren't Space Marines, and so they don't get the attention. They do better than certain Xenos factions, certainly, but they often feel more like a benchmark force; what other armies have to be better then because, in the lore, they threaten the Imperium, and the Guard is what that means they fight. Their ability to best the infinite, faceless masses of Mankind is what justifies the Astartes, which is the big seller of GW. In other times, Guard were a legit horde army, like Orks and Nids are/were, which meant a big investment for bunch of disposable dudes, or some tanks that played like monsters, with just enough guys you didn't really use, just to bubble wrap up Saud tanks, and keep them in the game. I'm not saying they sucked, or that they can't still field this way now, only that they are definitely, in my opinion, in the best spot they've been for editions, and years. And it might not last; when various factions got their 9e codex, they ruled the meta for a while, before getting nerfed into shape. 10e could do that to them; I don't know, but I'll be happy that, at least for now, they seem to be in a great place, even if it means you have a few auto-include options, which means other stuff almost never gets picked, until they dumb it down, and let Astartes become THE faction, again.

I think of commisars this way. Either you stand and fight, and MAYBE survive the charge of incoming Chaos Marines... OR You try to run, and guarantee that your commissar shoots you for cowardice. The difference? One of these options offers a chance of survival.

Catachan are the best and I will hear no argument to that. Think games workshop needs to do more with their traitor guard though, ngl they could make mental dollar by releasing a box of both but givin enough supplies to build all as loyal or traitor (that and I need more supplies in my bits box)

Have your read Hill's Minka Lesk novels. They have some pacing issues but tell strong stories about the last of the Imperium's most famous infantry regiments.
