Do you think armor with abs was made because they NEEDED them to fit? Or armor with codpieces was made because they NEEDED it to fit their massive schlongs? It makes perfect sense for an all-female unit to have armor that reflects that fact.

A breastplate with formed breasts is actually weaker at the center, due to how the material would be formed. Armor is made to let blows glance off of it and you wanted the thickest parts over your most vulnerable spots. A weak point where the armor might bent, tear or be cracked through right above your sternum is a really bad idea. If you bind your boobs down with an elastic, tight type of cloth, wearing your usual breastplates is absolutely doable and just way more practical.

@@nelethewitch Of course its doable, women did wear men armor. However, is binding your boobs more comfortable than simply making armor that accommodates for them? Its only more practical if its only one woman doing it and the breasts of said woman arent particularly voluminous. For a only regiment it makes no sense. A breastplate with formed breasts is weaker at the center than a breasts plate with a ridge, however it isnt weak, its still a very effective piece of protection. Every armor has weaknesses. A full helm is more protective than a open face helmet and yet lots of knight actually preferred the open face ones. Armor with breasts would still have the center as its thickest part but would come with the added benefit of being more comfortable and accentuating the features of the warrior that used it.

Good points! But don't forget that boobs tend to jiggle about. Even in such enclosed, fitted spaces. That's what sports bras are for. Tying them down for activities that involve running and/or fast paced motions is simply the better option. I mean, you could design the padding of the armor to inheritly do that job. Though personally I would prefer a simple breastplate without the boobs. It is simply more effective, even if only marginally so. But I would want every advantage I can have in the Warhammer Universe :'D plus, them globes would add a bit more weight to the armor.

@@nelethewitch Thanks for the acknowledgment and for reminding me that boobs do in fact jiggle. The domes arent supposed to enclose the breasts, in fact they are there specifically to provide distance from the armor to the body. Indeed, I would supposed some sort of fastening "sports bra like" padding would be worn underneath, like I said the goal is to provide comfort to the wearer. You are of course correct, a standard breast plate will be better at glancing blows off of you, but like you said it wouldn't be a drastic improvement. Theres absolutely nothing wrong in sacrificing comfort or style for protection, but if we are talking Warhammer then I would think that the sororitas (with a pension for sacrificing logical effectiveness for fiery and faithful style) would prefer to display their female nature in their armor.

DK: The biggest reason boob armor is impractical, even the shaped breast plates that looks usable, is that the shaped cleavage guides a blow to the chest to the center. You want a blow to glance off because of your armor, not be guided to your center mass. A better design would be to make room inside the armor for the boobs and shape the exterior to deflect blows instead.

Honestly, the simplest feminine armor just moves the classic belly curve up to the chest area. Ultimately serves the same purpose without losing much functionality. But this wouldn't be the first time people have sacrificed effectiveness for aesthetics.

From a perspective of the blade sliding off the plate there's a good chance it slides towards the center rather than to the side away from the wearer. If it slides towards the center it could potentially penetrate through the armour and fail to protect the wearer. If the the armour is one large plate, the blade if it slides, slides away from the wearers vitals thereby saving their life.

@@sloth8598 I saw all videos Shad made on the subject and I suggest you rewatch them because in them he says what anyone can easily conclude: If a blade impacts the plate and ricochets into the crevasse of the chest, then that blow would already be severely weakened (energy dissipates on first contact) and it would then strike at the strongest part of the armor (the center) that you could easily reinforce if you were still unsure. Please explain to me how a blow wouldn't penetrate on the first hit but would go right through the thickest part of the metal plate above the strongest bone in your body and threaten your life?

@@andrewtheskyshooter Say it hits dead center into the crevasse then the full force of the blow is hitting straight into the center. It may be the thickest part of the armour but that doesn't nullify the force of the blow causing knockback broken bones or bruising under the armour. Whether or not the armour is penetrated is dependent on the type of weapon and the wielder. Generally speaking a long sword isn't going to cut through plate. The single curved plate armour however nullifys the issue with the crevasse. Even if the sword doesn't slide around the struck piece of metal is still curved which I believe may add to resistance and encourage crumpling rather than allowing the weapon to piece through. If the curve juts further outwards to the body it would particularly useful against stuff like warhammers. I'm not a blacksmith or medieval weaponry expert though. For all I know you a longsword can cut through plate and my understanding of the topic is flawed.

Im not saying that a single curve wouldnt be better Im just saying two curves arent that worse either, they both defect blows, one sends them out the other sends them to the strongest part of the plate, one can even argue its better for your opponent to have their weapon stuck in your armor than to be able to easily recover from a glanced blow. Every armor has places where plates interlock, if they were so fragile them every knight would be bisected at the waist.

Just a note. Boob armor is alright, but if it's invidual cup for each breast, that just creates a nice convex for spears and such to go in.. And guess in 40K, that means a "inward" deflection for a boollet which means it pretty much is forced to get through the armor. Hence why breast plates got this stomach/chest bulge.

While I love memes as much as the next guy I can't wait until they have an episode about all the abhumans. I have been so curious ever since they mentioned Ogryn.

Those shot glasses are pretty cool, actually. They are designed to have water poured into the bottom bulb and the alcohol poured on top in the smaller bulb. You then shoot the liquor and chase it with the water!

As someone who does know enough about armor, the only reason you would ever have boob armor is if you were doing it for the looks. Armor is nothing without padding, so any practical armor isn't exactly going on over top the most shapely garments. And you want a deflecting surface, preferably something arching outwards, not inwards like cleavage. Actual boob armor could only be decorative, which isn't necessarily unrealistic, since muscle cuirasses are a real thing but it implies something about the person wearing the armor or about the people equipping them. IE that the ecclesiarchy is a bunch of creepy sex pests who value form over function. Which totally checks out tbh. I imagine they probably put the sisters in closed toe boots after Doge got ousted and figured that was enough kink shaming for one day

Regarding boob armour, it’s not very good because it focuses the force of the blow directly onto your sternum, so if you’re hit with a melee weapon that force is going directly to your chest and if you’re shot then the bullet is going to the same place with nowhere else to go (assuming there isn’t a curve/angle up or down). In medieval times women would either just wear normal armour because there’s already enough room for padding and whatnot or if they really needed it they could have a raised dome which shapes the armour so that there’s more chest room but no inward-facing angles to trap blades.

As a history nut. Boob armor is impractical, there is more then enough space in a mens chestplate to fit XL cups. You never want hard armor against your skin as if that dents or gets hit hard the force will then immedietly go into you, you need a lot of space between you and the chestplate to take the least amount of lethal damage as possible. Also any side blows with weapons would deflect causing the blade to aim for your important internal organs.

Armour was made to fit the wearer, it makes no sense to not include space for breasts in a set made for a woman. If you made a male armor chestpiece large enough to accommodate XL breasts it would be highly uncomfortable and heavy. If the blow has already deflected than the impact is minimized so it seems quite unlikely the first blow doesn't penetrate but the second does. If men like to show abs even in their armour why would you think women wouldnt like to display breasts?

It would be marginally less effective, because the globe's for the breasts add unnecessary weight. And armor is designed to let blows glance off. Boob armor simply does it less well than your standard armor, because of the shape.

@@andrewtheskyshooter Look up how tank armor works. It's meant to *deflect* bullets and shells, not absorb them. So lots of glancing angles, and one great big angled dome. Any sort of 'realistic' armor is a barrel or dome, the v shaped wedge in the middle of boob armor is a perfect place to catch bullets and kill the wearer.

Regarding boob armor: if the plate is steel and covers all the vitals the shape only matters marginally in terms of protection. Anything that can punch through boob armor can almost always punch through regular breastplate.

So when can we expect Adeptus Ridiculous tabletop minis of these three? I'd buy them. I downloaded the Doge Vandire somebody created, but I would love to have more AdRic minis in my collection.
