The Meaning of Modern Relationships
Ойын-сауық
A video essay on the meaning of modern relationships, centered on the Before film series (Before Sunrise, Before Sunset, Before Midnight). Aside from Richard Linklater, I also look at various pop songs and their depiction of modern love and short-term romances, including songs by Sara Kays (Home for the Summer), Finneas O'Connell (Let's fall in love for the night), Beyonce (Irreplaceable) and Handsome Ghost (Reckless Lover).
In this essay I breakdown the meaning and value of modern relationships, in the context of pop songs, hook-up culture and online dating, to understand the philosophy behind modern dating.

This has been a very compelling essay of modern love. There is another song, named "Love Online", by Donny Benet, talking about the briefness and banality of current relationships. Maybe from another different point of view I wonder if there was a remarkable cause, ir a main cause or reason, for deep love to fade away in these proportions. It may be the case that scarcity brings value to love as well, and in the abundance of this world with so many granular options and work paths to pursue, settling in with someone could be like choosing "a salad" in a food buffet. But only the "salad" will bring you health. The other options were not there un the natural world, nor were icecreams or hamburguers, and this misleads your senses towards the unhealthy craving option, which is a mistake for which you were not prepared to deal with in the first place. In a world of abundant relations, individuals importance fade away.
Had to cut this awkwardly for music copyright. Will fix in next vid but leave this up for now.
hey what’s the name of the classical piano piece towards the end?

I think it's from the soundtrack of the film (could be wrong though, it's been a while!) Otherwise I generally source from Kevin McCleod.
