Advertising and subconscious desire

Ойын-сауық

A video essay on Sam Harris, the American philosopher and neuroscientist who questions whether we have free will. Harris' view of choice and human agency can be applied neatly to the field of advertising, where advertisers plant subconscious desire for certain products. Sam Harris' theories can be found in his books Free Will, Waking Up, and The Moral Landscape.
In this essay I breakdown the world according to Sam Harris, to show his essential take down of free will philosophy.

Determinism...Whether free will is absolutely possible or not: it surely isn't possible in this neoliberal capitalist system we've constructed and trapped ourselves in..

You can become conscious that you are conscious. Immediately you know what you really need and you make choices for you. There is not one single advertisement working on me. We are in control of ourselves. The same the way we breathe...

Yeah, I wrote this years back. Some of his recent stuff is a lot more questionable.
