Queria performar no palco igual o Cedric. Se entregar totalmente para a música desse jeito deve ser incrível.
the first minute of this is giving me BIG long season vibes?!

It's funny to think how Omar sent Concertina to his idol Alejandro Jodorowsky and he said he didn't like it. lol. I don't understand why though

I miss when musicians looked like people you'd see in the grocery store rather than a fashion show.

When was that approximately? I feel like there's always been both types of stage presence at some point. The idea of dressing up for a performance has been around for literal centuries, and playing music in everyday clothes has been around since the inception of folk music AT LEAST. As a musician myself, I think it's just as valid to dress in every day clothes onstage as it is to do something that you feel will match with the vibes of the vibes of the art you've made.

Okay, I'll be the one to say it. I am one of the biggest Volta fans on this planet. But this performance was god-awful. Painful to listen to, and it makes me sad. Eva and Jon were great, though.

Pretty sure Cedric and Omar were still major crack heads in 2002, hence the shitty performance on their part... It took Jeremy dying for the 2 of them to become completely clean
@groovydeath

@@DaFreezeey Oh yeah, for sure. IMHO, Cedric's absolute peak of live performance was 2005. Not so coincidentally, this is also the first and last time he received formal voice training, to the best of the public's knowledge. A close runner up would be 2008.

@DaFreezeey speculation aside, a 2005 interview with playlouder suggests that they were indeed smoking crack on this very tour: "When happily tooting away backstage on their first overseas tour in 2002, Cedric and Omar discovered that not everyone is as liberated or free-and-easy as they were. Seemingly certain members of tour headliners and Mars Volta's buddies Les Savy Fav took umbrage at the noxious fumes emanating from the band's room backstage." is there something else that makes you 'pretty sure'?

Wow always thought they were heroin or speedball guys. Are they totally clean now? My opinion, is that I shouldn't be judging anyone, much less one of my favorite bands , for using or not, then or now, but asking for a friend who’s in recovery and fan. Showed them this video and another one I really like from these days was a 2003 performance form Emo's in Austin.

@@adamstickelbault they're on the record has having done heroin, too. I'm not aware of any definitive list of what drugs they did and which they stopped doing. my impression is that they stopped doing heroin, coke, and crack around mid 2002. this is based mostly off the box set liner notes stating that Jeremy was in rehab in mid 2002, in combination with other remarks from Omar and Cedric that Jeremy struggled the most with addiction (of the 3 of them) and that they both stopped doing those drugs because they saw how much the whole thing was hurting Jeremy.
