The jam in drunkship, I could be wrong, but they only played that specific jam in an off tour concert in 2005 Santa Barbara bowl. I was at the show and was blown away by it. Especially since they played the lead with a flute. Look the concert up and you can hear. I have been searching for other shows where they played that beautiful part, they finally brought it back. I love it 😍

@@xeicv this festival was VERY expensive and the crowd was there to see pop artists ( the line-up was flume, HAIM, forence+the machine and other bands). Honestly, mars volta was kinda lost in this festival, and the same festival will happen this next weekend in São Paulo, another city that is much more common to have concerts of alternative bands (and usually people from all across the country go to são paulo to see concerts) So my guess is that in the next weekend more people will be there to see mars volta

Saw them live a couple weeks ago in Chile. Tbh I had low expectations, but I was so pleasently surprised. The band obviously sounded great, but Cedric did as well. @@psychedelicsanctuary. That and I think he has a much better idea on what he can pull off live and what he can't now than he did before. But to me, there really was a charm there (in the past) when he was all over the place and wasn't really aware of it either. I love that trainwreck feel, never knowing what was gonna hit next, it suited Mars Volta's vibe in their heyday. Keep in mind that this is indeed a tame version of what Mars Volta was, they are nowhere near as hectic or loud, which isn't wholly unexpected given the nature of the last 2 albums.

@lecturehc I think Cedric brought that crazy stage energy with him from ATDRI to The Mars Volta and just couldn't let it go but they were two different bands and didn't require the same energy. The Mars Volta are a Progressive Rock band ,not Emo Punk and finally Cedric has become comfortable in that mode.
