cedric is the most enchanting person, can never look away. i always go back to this performance, i love how he just randomly grabs omar by the shirt and drags him across the stage... the faceplant.... everything. love all of it

I was there.. I was 18 years old. Was also at the infamous ATDI BDO 2001 show (I was 15). Both blew my freakin mind.. never quite recovered. Still addicted. ;) We were truly blessed by these guys, they were huge over here compared to the states. Thank's so much for the clean upload.

@@jameshandley7197 Yes, it was that good. I remember being fixated on Theodore, because I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Felt like I was tripping (wasn't, just had some speed n weed). It was other worldly. The high lasted for months and I never really recovered.

I think the funniest one is in 2010 at a festival, forgot which one but Cedric really didn’t care, his singing sucked you can tell they knew the crowd didn’t like their new stuff and Cedric was just hilarious in it 😂

There will come a time where rock emerges once again as the greatest and most passionate genre ever created. The band Yes was their equivalent back in the day, and then 30 or so years later these lovely angelic demons spawned out of nowhere. It will happen again!!! But we might be 60 years old by that time lol

My buddy and I were at BDO 2004 mainly to see Muse and Metallica. Ashamedly we were too smooth brained to realise the talent of TMV at the time. However this performance was very memorable. We both genuinely feared for Cedric as he seemed completely fucked and trying to climb the rigging. Anyway the interest was piqued and can’t believe how fucking excited I was today to hear that there are serious rumours of a new release on the horizon!

@@stale_. Is high even the proper word? Haha I distinctly remember showing the Cicatriz video from this performance to a couple people at a shindig 15 years ago. Before the video was halfway through people from different rooms of the house had made their way into my bedroom just so to investigate what the hell was going on and seeing Cedric deep throating the mic and face plant on the stage. One of my fondest memories of this band was just seeing the reactions of people hearing/seeing them for the first time trying to wrap their minds around what they were experiencing.

ATDI will always be on the same level of originality in my eyes but was really just a prelude of the vision Cedric and Omar had for music. Fuck I miss these guys and just seeing the reactions of people when they had their Mars Volta cherry popped.

recently i listened to Brainiac - bonsai superstar and realized they almost sound like a prototype of atdi. cedric was on their documentary talking about them, so the influence was a lot. made me realize atdi wasn't as creative as i first thought

I was at this gig. I was 18. I ate a microdot and an extacy. I don't remember anything from that day and especially fuck all from this gig. I'm front and centre and can see myself in this vid. Bit sad really.

Dig TMV but always think of that part in Get Him to the Greek when listening to them.

The Zeppelin of our times-minus the by then and now abused blues. Truly original. Nothing has come even close since.

Page and ORL are both insanely prolific riff writers, song structures are generally all just deviated pop/blues structures, both bands would use bridges for long form Odysseys and/or playing other songs in the bridges of whatever they're playing live. I can definitely see the parallels

There was a point in my teenage life at around my HS years to be specific, that there was this really weird, unfriendly dude just shittin' all over the people liking these performances in the comments, and I literally cannot wash my brain clean of the actual stupid, crazy ass shit he was accusing me of for just telling him to beat it; I really want to be able to look at TMV and not think of what an insane prick that one rando was trying so hard to be. People should just be able to enjoy music, and weirdo narcissistic freaks probably shouldn't be starting arguments with others online. People who can't find anything to like about something vaguely weird or interpretive seem to feel ridiculously personally threatened by the ones who make and enjoy those.
