Yeah it's easy to whistle while chilling but considerably harder to 'record' a whistle in the mic since the mic (even with the pop filter) picks up a lot of air especially during highs and lows when you're trying to get it perfect. The fact that Tim chose my whistle is enough to tell me I was good enough. Fun fact: I once recorded an easier whistle (which came out perfect!) for a buyer who rejected the delivery because he thought it was not a natural human whistle and more like a pipe/flute 😂

I think it was just the old model and musicians with weak egos who kept this sort of thing a dirty little secret. I’ve heard in particular of cases of session musicians being hired to come up with ideas for all sorts of massive bands and then obviously the bands themselves then go on to take all the credit. Polyphia is doing an amazing thing of opening up these sorts of processes.

Hes doing nothing innovative. His guitar playstyle has been around for hundreds of years. It just never entered mainstream music.

For those of you who think they just get up there and jam, Tim Henson demonstrates the sophistication that goes into music writing in 2022 and the collaboration among musicians. Add the guitar skills that Tim brings and you end up with beauty. Oh, and they designed a unique guitar for this song. Wow! Keep it coming....And...when are you coming to D.C.?

How resourceful to pull from all these different influences and make it something completely unique and an INSTANT classic to boot. That is a great example of someone mastering their craft and continuously improving.

Polyphias biggest secret isn't just Timmy Hendrix but the countless professional musicians, producers and song writers that help bring their vision to fruition.

Well, I guess these things are only natural, and I didn't even have to watch the vid to know Tim is influenced by others, he frequently mentions he has drilled a lot of stuff before, from Hendrix to classical music. Anyway, almost nobody seems to have the "balls" to ask these questions, so that we know a bit more about Tim: Here are my questions I would love to see answered: 1. Is Polyphia now almost entirely playing songs where every single 16-th note is hit by default as a total must, and as many 32-ths and sometimes even 64-ths are cramed into one beat as possible - to just flex on purpose? 2. Is it because they try to differentiate themselves from others, knowing a few, if any, would be able to repeat the same thing after them? Is it because they perceive this day and age being fast, and it is just a response to that? Or is it because they just want to be super-shredders? 3. Don't they think after one or two more albums with playing this super-fast, the continuous note hitting without any air and space will just become too much of an overkill - and get too boring? 4. Don't they plan to record at least ONE song with a bit more "space" in it? I mean, I know I am Gen X and this are new gen gentlemen, but still - here's a concert take by Henson (recorded when he was even years younger) - and played a beutiful solo with MUCH MORE SPACE in-between notes, and more headroom, than the super-tight, super compressed, super crammed style he prefers to play now (my generation would call this old Henson's solo FUSION btw.): kzread.info/dash/bejne/eK17u9Ocj7GTmtY.html 5. It seems that people are just afraid to ask Tim what many would like to know, I believe. I don't want to get offensive in any way, but I have to ask this - why does Tim like so many feminine elements around him, starting with his clothing, through pink amp sims, to his hair style? Is it because his mother has had a great influence on him? My first thought was Tim is one of those guys who use female or even plural pronouns - but no, he seems to identify himself purely as male. So, WHAT is the influence behind this feminine styling of his? And, what does his girlfriend say about it? I am literally curious to know the answers. Thx

Creativity is such an amazing blessing and this band, in particular, seems able to capture and realize their creativity. Amazing.

Seeing Wes came up with some of my favorite parts was a shocker. Never hear of Alluvial so I’m really excited to listen to all that now. And now seeing Wes previous and current bands, looks like I’ve been enjoying his music for a long time.

This was amazing! Tim is really a modern musician. Using everything available with technology combined with talent. The songwriting process is super collaborative! Makes sense why everything comes out so well. Pure art.

Right? You're basically transposing what the computer program created onto guitar but at a ridiculous speed. He could have just let the computer fill that in, but to see he took the time to transpose it on guitar shows his dedication.

Everytime I hear this song, I feel so inspired to keep studying and playing the guitar. It was the first song I've heard from Polyphia, and damn, it hit so hard.

The amount of work and passion and contributions put into JUST this song makes me feel a lot better about my songwriting capabilities

seeing all the sound clips like that looks just like art and animation files, especially with the copy-pasting and drawing inspiration and additions from so many different people. it's so cool how no matter what the medium, when the focus is on creating something incredible, the creative process is all fundamentally the same: a lot of hard work from a lot of amazing people

The part you said was from Scott with the meshing of both guitars is my absolute favorite part of the entire song guitar wise. Something about intertwining Melodies is so baroque and Bach esque to me. The baroque period of classical is my favorite period to play anything out of. Would love to see more delving into the classical sphere!

That melody is so good that without knowing the composer I would think it could only be created by Pat Metheny. Which is another proof of Tim's creative genius.

There are so many other subtle layers to that song that he revealed. Cool part is they'll stand out on the next listen even more. Very cool stuff.
