The roast was calling a Pipa a lute (its similar, but completely different cultures), not knowing what a shamisen is, and calling a Lyre a "finger harp" Although that's a product of western music never bothering to expand into other cultures. I don't blame polyphia at all, but rather the entirety of the western music scene.

@@Zion-18 I'm not trying to take down anything. I just find it a bit sad that so many people don't get to experience the wonderful music of different cultures and traditions. There are so many fantastic pieces people don't get to hear because no one pushes them to branch out into other genres and territories. Again, I'm not mad at polyphia at all for not knowing what a pipa is. I just think everyone should make more of an effort to venture outside of their musical comfort zone.
The “I’m gonna need to cover this cover” is a compliment that was beyond my imagination. To think it could come from an original artist to another version of their piece. Wow

between the acoustic slaps and the vocal cover on bloodbath for me. jesus christ though.
It hasn't even been an hour since i discovered this band, and im already such a big fan
I like how Tim was happy and trying to engage with every video. You could tell he was really having fun because of how happy he looked from the very beginning & it felt like you could see how lukewarm his attitude was when ending the video too.

The amount of talent in this video is INSANE
it's really nice of them to have such a communication with the audience. It means they are trully love and appreciate us
2:08 Tim : "Oh he's harmoniccing this part?" *Scratching his ear* 'Shit why didn't I think about that before?!' hahaha

the fact that they were inspired by their covers is a true testament to that winner's skill. he really deserved it
The marimba girl made ABC into a freaking GameCube. Insane covers all around.
It just has something really wholesome to see these tatted up dudes somewhere between hyped up and moved to tears because of "wow, this is beautiful"
The mysingingmonster version is what the crowd looks and sound like while "singing" along at Polyphia live shows. No words, just 💫 Doh 💫 😭😭 those tiny little yeti things sent me into orbit 🚀
Holy shit I wish more bands did this kind of vid. I’ve never listened to Polyphia, but man, watching them have fun with their fans; the best parts are when they are utterly impressed. I’m making it a point to Spotify their catalogue from start to finish.
You guys reacting to fan covers is easily some of the best stuff to watch; keep em coming, people want more!
It’s amazing how beautiful the music community comes to relate, and appreciate each others gifts. Shine on people.❤
man imagine an orchestra doing your stuff. please i need this.
So happy to see Danny Yau get recognition on here!!
When all of the guys had their stank faces on for all the drops and solos of their own parts we knew we had a winner there. The icing was Tim saying “I gotta cover this cover…” congratulations to Paolo and all the people who shared their music as well. 👍
all of these are good, some are insane (especially the winner) but the cover that stuck with me the most was the vocal cover that started at around 7:29. Loved that on its own, would love to have it on Spotify. Loved the "eerie" feeling of the entire song. Amazing musicality.
the piano one with the resolution into hope into dark is so good i can't even explain. This girl simply understands music theory hehe

I was expecting a roast and they just kept giving compliments!
This is Canada's version of "roasting"! God bless you guys and thank you for bringing your humbleness, kindness and your otherworldly music into this plane of existence.. muey bien!
Danny Yau pulling out various instruments from around the world and nailing each one cracks me up.
Bass volte at 18:09 has something alot of bass players lack nowadays: Groove. Obviously he plays incredible, and his incredibly skilled aswell, but daaamn his flow is gorgeous!
I swear Tim's "wtf is that?" at 13:51 cracked me up everytime I hear it 😂😂

Danny Yau!!! The kid is amazing! I loved all the different instruments. I didn’t see them roast anyone, they were super supportive!
Just now found you guys. Wow! No words. You all seem so genuinely nice with your comments. The musicians doing your cover songs were also amazing. Made my afternoon. Thanks.
Love how this is titled as a "Roast" but still so appreciative of every cover and positive vibes! Great job guys keep making awesome music!
Tim: I'm gonna have to cover his cover 😂 Scottie: Remember That You Will Cry 😂 I love how Clay looks so proud as a mentor to his mentee 😁 Danny coming in with 2 and a half entries!!! Wooohh! Also 11:57 & 20:35 Lastly, congrats to the winner. Paolo Gans, dope rendition! 👌
6:28 the best
You have a lot of talented fans for sure. I've only known of your band for about 2 weeks now and have listened to a ton of your music since. The Ego Death video was like the passing of the torch to the next virtuosos and no doubt you guys are inspiring the next wave who will blow us all away.
These guys should start a band or smth
