The Magi Present Offerings to Jesus - Aramaic Bible Study Matthew 2:1-9 12
The following is from my Aramaic Bible Study series, covering Matthew 2:9-12 in the Classical Syriac. I read the passage in both the Western accent written in the Serto script and commonly found among the Syriac Orthodox, Maronite Catholic, and Syrian Catholic communities (and historically the Antiochian Orthodox). I also read the text in the Eastern accent found among the Ancient/Assyrian Church of the East, the Chaldean Catholics, and the Syriac Orthodox and Syriac Catholic communities of Northern Iraq.

In the Revelation of the Magi, the "star" that is leading them IS the baby Jesus.👶 🌟 Which means they were lead by a vision and or dream. Love your videos. ☮
As a native speaker of our colloquial dialects, these bible studies shine a new light on scripture. In only 3 videos, ive learned about crutial differences between the english translations and cultural dynamics. Keep them coming, tawdi sagi Malfono.

Im planning to have our youth watch these as a beginning to bible study. They’re excellent. Please, keep them coming! If i think of specific topics i will let you know.
Shlomo Malfono! Shato brikhto! You reminded me of an idea I heard on the Lord of Spirits podcast, that the celestial bodies and natural elements have all been assigned to specific angels - one among the 9 ranks of angels. In that sense, this star is being guided by an angel or we can say it is synonymous with an angel. This idea also makes sense because ancient people and many polytheists today do believe and worship certain gods corresponding to certain celestial bodies. The Byzantine Troparion for the Nativity says, "Those who worshipped the stars were taught by a star to adore Thee, the Sun of Righteousness." Another hint about this is how we use stars/angels as Christmas tree toppers.

Unfortunately when someone speaks neo-aramaic in the middle east ( say iraq for example), some people think that this language is just a dialect of arabic and some say that it is related to kurdish. I am a speaker of neo-aramaic and this happens with me a lot. And the sad part is that some of the dialacts of neo-aramaic is in danger of extinction. I am really happy i saw your channel and your efforts to elevate the Aramaic language so that more and more people can study and recognize it👏🙏🏻. Little by little we will elevate Sureth, Leshana Atiqa, and all the Aramaic dialects that we use. Nikha nikha it will happen.
