The Mafia's Spread into the European Capital
Authorities discovered a new hidden world in the city of Brussels in Belgium.
the capital of Europe has fallen into the hands of a major alliance of Albanian clans, the Italian mafia and some members of the Dutch Mocro Maffia. Since astronomical drug seizures in the port of Antwerp, the problem is increasingly spreading to other metropolises such as Brussels, which plays an important role as a drug distribution centre throughout Europe...

I've seen it in the Netherlands going all the way back to Klaas Bruinsma, the so-called Yugoslavian mafia, the Italian mafia, etc. They all come and go. The people in charge and who stay in charge of the drug trade already hold positions of authority within the system, this is why it is known as narcos in the Netherlands, they are legitimate and have gained access to the system in ways that these so-called mafias or cartels have never been able to.

The n’drangheta and albanian (old school) maffia are in holland and importing big amounts of cocaine but they don’t attract the kind of attention the morocans, dutch and turks generate in the netherlands. But if you want something done on a proffesional level, like a mob-hit, you’d be pretty fucking stupid to outsource it to motorcycle gangs or the morrocans because of the mistakes they make and publicity that comes with it. Just look at the motorcycle gang taghi hired to do his hits. These were complete morons and one of them evenually flipped and became a state witness.
I'm more chocked by how this city gets gentrified by new and expensive places that are increasing the gap between poor and middle class, how social connection has been broken in the transport by the black screen we all are so much focus on. No one is taking care of what's really happenning in Brussels, poor people dying in streets during rough winter, migrants still being parked at north station, marginalization of some communities because of the increasement of the price of rent. Brussels is a multicultural city that's the beauty of it, assholes and violent peoples can be Belgians, French, from Italy, pologne, North africa, whatever, there is the choice of it. There is violence but most of the time beautiful things are happening in the street. This reportage is just a joke to scared the European democrates and to tell them to stay in them golden city of ixelles. I saw as much toxic behavior over then in the rest of the city. Wearing a suit doesn't mean you are clean. BTW Brussels is not Belgium, a capital rarely represents what a country has to offer. You want to see Belgium? Go visit Belgium, all 10 provinces of Belgium, there is things to see and to learn, not just nice pictures to take.

I’ve been living part time in Belgium initially around the area of the Commission and now near VUB. I think it should be definitely said that you have to have your eyes open and be careful when you’re in Brussels. Petty crime is prevalent in almost all major cities. However, I would advise caution with personalizing crime in Brussels. What I mean by that is that if you are a tourist passing by, and you’re not messing with anybody, nor you’re not approaching people who clearly are mentally ill, you will be fine for the most part. If I do have criticism based on my experience, there are definitely problems with certain areas of town. It’s not just Molenbeek, but Anderlecht as well; my boyfriend was nearly assaulted there. You also have a lot of mentally unstable individuals running around the city with very little interference from the authorities. I asked some friends of mine who are Belgian, and they explained that the mentality is that mentally ill people should be more free rather than institutionalized in order to “integrate“ with the rest of the society. But what I witnessed wasn’t integration - it was grown men, screaming, and running around. Jumping on trams and pushing people inside the transport and then running off. Like I’m talking actually mentally ill- not just some guy having a bad day and being an asshole. I really like Belgium, and Belgians are very friendly. There is great food and the city is beautiful. But for me, as a woman of a very small stature, there are moments where I feel intimidated. I hope that changes, and i hope those issues will be resolved because no one deserves to suffer in poverty, mental illness, or as a result of crime.

I worked in Brussels near the trainstation untill after midnight. I quit my job because it wasnt safe anymore for me to go home after work. Natives/white people get threatened and discriminated since we are the minority now. I thought as long as i keep my business to myself and ignored everyone i would be ok but no. Problems just find you there. Some random guy pulling my cardoor open and when i try to drive off he kicks my car and his friends kicking the other side. Walking towards my car and 3 14 year olds pulling a knife on me. People bumping into me or demanding cigarette just to start a fight. I get offered cocaïne every 100 meters and when you ignore them or say no they get mad and intimidate. In the city centre it's laughably easy to get your hands on good quality cocaine (i'd say even easier than buying weed). Fights, mugging, pickpocketing, beggers mafia is virtually everywhere. Stabbing is also a rising occurence nowadays. It's not about molenbeek. Here is a non-comprehensive list of all the places to be avoided after sunset: -Quartier Heywaerts in Molenbeek -Quartier Cureghem in Anderlecht -80% of St-Josse-Ten-Node -surroundings of Gare du Midi -surroundings of Gare du Nord -surroundings of place bethléem in St-Gilles -certain parts of Forêt -the Alhambra quartier (De Brouckère-Rogier-Yser triangle) -Annessens -Bourse -Marolles -Matonge in Ixelles In fact, there are 19 communes in Bxl and if you want to live a peaceful life, you should only consider living in about 4-5 of them.

If the old rule of thumb about authorities catching about 10% of illegal drugs is true, that 90 tons confiscated is NOT a good sign...

its what people want, like it or not. So just give them. Everybody should decide for themselves what they want to take/drink/eat. Drugs should be legalized and then violence will go away. When you are threatening with serious prison sentences, the violence rises because of the risks involved. Its like with prohibition of alcohol in the USA. Once it got legalized, everything settled down.
