    @@dutchzen5309 my "Looking at Hands" check always ends up beeing me with six or seven fingers that are distorted in a sense that they're Out of Proportion; sometimes my fingers are thick and short, other times i have like two fingers melted together and one extremely long finger. so its inconsistent but always when i do this check i already did Nose Pinch test but man, the Looking at hands and seeing how distorted it looks is so weird and gets me into a sort of shock. one time i only had Tree fingers but most of the time i have more than six or seven on each hand.

    I was working at an office (though I work from home irl). Doing an ink drawing that involved multiple characters, one of whom looked like Freddie Mercury. I had kind of messed it up a bit, and was puzzling about how to fix it. I had been keeping my cats there at the office. They were just running around randomly. I felt bad about leaving them there overnight, particularly one of them, who loves to snuggle with us at bedtime. So I went around trying to find them, to bring them home. I had some trouble finding them, and got a little worried, but eventually collected 2 of them in a large cat carrier. I was still having trouble finding one, and then remembered that she was no longer with us. Then, I recall one where I was walking across a landscape that looked a bit like something the late great "Moebius" would have painted. There were large boulders everywhere, and strange colorful anemone-like foliage in place of grass on hillsides... Not sure what I learned other than reinforcing (in that first one) that I often have elements of anxiety, worry, and feelings of failing at something in dreams...

    I'm almost a year into this, and only had two lucid (ish) dreams. I haven't been consistent all the way, and I know there are areas i need to improve. I'm ok with this, I'm patient. The last few months my practice has been getting more focused, certain things are becoming ingrained into my psychology. Only a matter of time until my dream self catches on

    This is really good advice. It’s also one of the main reasons why I don’t bother with checking forums on Reddit etc. - I don’t want to have my expectations muddied. The only person I’m “competing” against is myself.

  • @Carl_Frank
    @Carl_Frank2 ай бұрын

    I am happy to hear this advice since, right now, I am more enamored of just exploring whatever my dreams present me with, rather than looking to change the scene or exert any other god-like power over the dream. I can just have a dream goal to interact with dreamlings, or if none are present, interact with the environment, and possibly look for “messages” in it.

    when i am lucid and dont change the dream (so relaxing and chilling) my Lucidity fades almost always, but when i do crazy stuff like flying or Telekinesis (i love doing that one specificaly in a Lucid dream, moving objects is very fun) i wake up mostly in False Awakening. and i Always fail at portal making. i also went to Mars but the dream deceided to make it a Cartoony Game Like world so it was'nt actually Mars lol. i'm gratefull that i also love exploring Non Lucid Dreams (writing them down and analyzing why i dreamed about it). as always, great video.

    I like this advice! Even simply being clear-minded and present in a dream can be very special in its own right! I like that explorative mindset! Also, the expression "don't run before you can walk" is exceptionally clear to me because it hits way too close to home. One time, I was going down the stairs and I started running before I even landed properly, and sprained my ankle as a result. If I hadn't tried to save like 3 seconds and focused on properly landing first, none of that would have happened! I think that gives a whole new meaning to the expression. But yeah, I think if I had an opportunity to change anything about my lucid dreaming journey, it would be not trying to be efficient and get ahead of the game. It almost always results in a master of none situation, where building things one at a time would have a much stronger foundation. That becomes true when you realize just how much you can learn from an individual experience. Focus on that rather than trying to get ahead. If there is one thing I could change about my lucid dreaming journey over the last 10 years, that's the one thing I would change above all else pretty much!

    I think the thing with people making this mistake most of the time is the lack of experiencing the failure. Because in lucid dreaming feeling of failure is almost identical to not even making an attempt at it, just being unconscious while sleeping and usually not remembering anything. It's like going for a surfing lesson, losing your consciousness, and realizing at the end you don't remember the progress and attempts that you made a couple of minutes ago at all. Also, for me personally, it's the one thing that really puts me off of practicing lucid dreaming.

    I wonder if there’s a way to turn my vivid dissociative daydreams into lucid dreams instead of weird daydream meditative trance states. I have had a few lucid dreams before but each very short and difficult to replicate we found. I also had a very vivid and enjoyable dream yesterday but no critical thinking was there so it wasn’t a lucid. One of my favorite dreams was an extremely vivid dream but only partial critical thinking so I partially count that one that was also this year 2024. I have actually been remembering verbal speech slightly better which was one of my dream goals. It feels like different parts of ourselves are fighting ourselves.

    Have you followed the 19 day course? If not I'd definitely recommend giving that a try. 11 months is quite a long time, so it's possible you're misunderstanding one of the fundamental concepts (this is reasonably common, so certainly don't feel bad). If there's anything you're unsure of please feel free to ask.

    @@1StopMusic I'm sure we can fix whatever it is - the human mind is very complex, and there is a lot of diversity in individual psychology. That said, for most people the largest stumbling block is fully grasping the concept of genuinely and regularly questioning reality. I'd say roughly 80% of people struggle with this, and it's really quite fundamental. But don't panic, I've met thousands of students all with very different backgrounds, personality and psychology, and we can always crack it eventually!

So you can dream journal, reality test and use techniques but it doesn't guarantee lucidity. Also another question. Is it possible to lucid dream without using techniques? At the moment I am just keeping a dream journal and noticing some recurring themes and reality checking every now and again.
