Zinc, selenium, and iron are minerals that have been studied in relation to anxiety. The research shows that low levels of zinc are associated with higher anxiety symptoms. Zinc supplementation has been found to reduce anxiety symptoms in various groups of people.
Similarly, selenium deficiency has been linked to higher anxiety levels, and selenium supplementation has been shown to improve anxiety symptoms. Iron deficiency, especially in females due to menstrual blood loss, has also been associated with increased anxiety.
Iron supplementation has been found to reduce anxiety symptoms in different populations. So, these minerals play a role in anxiety, and maintaining adequate levels of zinc, selenium, and iron may help manage anxiety symptoms.

Do you know why whenever I try and take zinc I noticed my hair will shed more. This also happens when I take vitamin C.

Wondering about the balance of minerals. Could it be that taking zinc creates a lack, or highlights the lack, of something else. Here’s some other tho, ughts…I have found that b vitamins and I only mean the methylated type, helps hair grow back. Also, aging causes many people to have hair loss. Rosemary oil on the scalp changes and thwarts the androgen-testosterone-type hormone imbalances on the scalp, that cause follicles to release hair. Many of us have autoimmune reactions from sensitivities to supplements. Of all kinds, or different kinds. It may be helpful to start very small in your dosing, I mean cut the capsules, and titration slowly up. Month by month, slowly adding just a bit more zinc. Some things are best not to take, for different people. You also may want to get the blood test for MTHFR gene issues. Then get the book Dirty Genes or the really good book called The 85%Solution. Many people have MTHFR or other gene anomalies. This can cause all kinds of problems, including sensitivity reactions. Lots of info I am putting here, and it’s a lot. But this was my path and am having some good results.

@valeriecarpenter Have you worked on your micro biome? Also, maybe a different brand of zinc, as there are additives that can upset stomachs like magnesium stearate. Additionally, zinc is a metal, some people already have metal issues, and often that is link ed to MTHFR gene not clearing out metals…

Maybe you need to rule out iron overload. Vitamin C increases the absorption of iron and zinc reduces copper levels further - (copper is used to transport iron). So look into iron overload - which has the same symptoms as iron deficiency - and rule out haemochromatosis as a possible problem. Maybe you don't need extra zinc or vitamin C after all. Good luck!
