The Lanes were Brutal!
Conditions for qualifying Day 1 at the 2023 US Open were Brutal! The 49 foot pattern was tough on the entire field. Packy started hot, but finished cold.

The addition of what ball being used is a nice touch.

Love the slo-mo rolling off the fingers. Sometimes you just know it's gonna hit.
Rough pattern. Definitely liked the inserts of what you were throwing. Jake looked *great* throwing the 2.0 Hybrid (assumed that what it was).

Yeah.. seeing how the BW 2.0 Hybrid was clean through the front and the mids there.. that just sold me on the ball. It reminds me of how clean the Misison Domination/Mission 250k was.
Keep fighting, you have the game for coming sets!
Best vlog of all the KZreadrs vlogging there. Lots of throws to watch loved it
As a fan and bowler I truly appreciate the honesty and process. Bounce back day tomorrow!
Keep the focus and I’m having a blast cheering you on. Go House bowlers!!!
We have a open tournament coming and they are using this pattern and I really need help I have a lot of strong equipment and some low stuff what should I use cause out of everything I’ve bowled on I’ve never bowled on a pattern like this
Cool tech bowling the house bowling packy
As a shitty 120 average bowler, it is so fun to watch pro’s figure out a tough pattern. Changing the feet, changing the aim, changing balls. I don’t know what they’re doing when they make adjustments buts its cool to watch them figuring it out lol.
Nice to see your facial mannerisms resembling mine when I bowl on difficult patterns. :-)
Playing that line is right up ciminelli's alley
From what I have been seeing from the other bowlers I follow they all said the same thing and there was zero oil on the 3 boards on each side. It looked like the ball hooked twice on Darrin Tangs ball.
keep your head up and keep that positive energy
love the slo mo edits!
Like the new addition with what balls you are throwing. Good luck on day 2!
Im looking at trying to find a ball I can play a little straighter with does anyone have any suggestions
I used to room with Bob learn fran bax and Ted Hanna's I'm old now but that's the oil we loved sometimes even hand oiled!!!
What spare ball are you using now? How do you like the new Track piece?
You’ve got a lot of fans pulling for you packy keep it up. And I love you shaved your neck hair for this video much cleaner look.
Nice Tunes!!
Okay I know very little about bowling as I've only gone and played recreationally maybe 10 times in my life, and I was wondering if during most tournaments, does a player have to use the same weight bowling ball during the entirety of a tournament or can the player use different weight bowling balls during a single tournament?
I have bowled this pattern and only avg 200. These super long patterns are hard as heck I don't care how good anyone thinks they are.
lefty 6 board looked good for a while
What ball was he using here? Primarily threw it game 1 and 2.
I'm gonna be bowling with you guys within 3 years.
We all have rough times Packy, you always come back with a vengeance and tomorrow will be much better
HELP someone! I need advice on the viper. It’s kicking my ass. I have a BW2.0 Scorpion hybrid Ocean vibe Purple hammer Super weak layout purple reactive Hammer raw I am a very high rev player that isn’t good at taking my hand out early I had great success on junior gold 35ft. But it’s playing way different. My purp hammer is hooking to early
If the first and second arrow on pattern 1, then it must be dry when you decide to go straight.
I sort of like when they make you all bowl on a pattern where guys aren't starting in front of the ball return by the 2nd game. The folks who can adapt to not being able to hook the entire lane have an advantage
Your gonna go all the way and win!!!
What ball did you use after the camera died??
Every bowling vlog has almost the same title for this tourney.
I would love the challenge of bowling on a pattern like this...but not having picked up a ball since August i know my score would be low 100's
Great conditions - these conditions teach those 250 average house bowlers the real deal - !!! This is probably the shot where straighter is better and to keep it under control - plus spares of course.
Packy what surface did you start with?
Chin up, doing well. Keep going. You’ll figure it out. Spares are the name of the game. My grandpa always told me 9 and a spare every frame you shoot 190.
Go Francois!
Looks like a house league shot to me.
Yo, what was your surface on the archetype?
It looked like Lavoie was having a lot of success throwing basically a straight ball. Did it look like that when you were next to him?
Righties figured it out, as the play was to move in and keep the break point close to the head pin
What ball was packy throwing in the beginning??? It looks like Kevin was also throwing the same ball. It looks like a super strong asymmetrical solid ball
First ball looks a lot like the closer Pearl
That pattern looks tough
What ball is packy using for most of his first frame shots?
Looked like most of you guys were slowing down ball speed. Seemed to be working out well.
Do the pros think Woodland as a center is difficult? I bowl league here and it is quite strange
Stay in the oil to create hold.
Lanes are what they are. Figure it out and win!

Do you ever think of throwing cross lane? Why always on the left side?
@TheHouseBowling

Well across the lane on this pattern the lefties ball wouldn’t hook!
How are You guys breaking down the patterns? Do all the DV8 staff go to dinner and help devise a plan? Asymmetrical/Symmetrical Pin up vs Pin down What ball speed is Working If the open #1 pattern is flat is It not possible to throw urethane or a plastic ball straight up to the pocket and just pound the pocket? Seems players like Frankie playing down and in Is the Answer this week. If you get a min watch D Tangs vlog shows Frankie and Tang throwing toward 3 Pin 📌 and then Pocket lock X!! #SolveforX!! Mr Betts Bowls for Fun His MLB money is Garunteed
Throw it like man, you might get better results
I swear there must be oil on the bottom of the pins...
I kept seeing a command - was that Kris throwing it? at least it looked like one, anyways.
Back in the day, I went from conventional to fingertip, but being small, with short arms and small hands, bowling on long oil is like throwing spare balls without using my spare ball.
Can someone explain what "plus x" means? Like After two games he's "+36"? Is that just relative to 200? Like if you bowl a 210 and a 216, you're "+26"?

Exactly what you put there. You get it. So for example, the last two games were -60. Which I presume is better than i would do.
@TheHouseBowling

You got it. It's all relative to 200. Packy shot 1543 for eight games yesterday, which put him at -57. 1600 would be even. 1700 would +100
Can we get keven’s progress as well in the future vids?
Tournament of mortals
Can you roll a back up ball? Or a right hander? Why did you take the 7 pin on the split and not try to slide the 9 over? Isnt it almost impossible to get the 7 to shoot over without going in the gutter? Just curious
@whitehondarider22
Жыл бұрын
When i say back up ball Im saying put opposite spin on the ball then normal, as im a right hander and throw with normal left spin but in situations like that i adjust and flick the ball to give it right hook
@rh88841

I mean, it's near impossible to slide the 9 too. He just took the count
@whitehondarider22

But is it though, I think sliding the nine would have been a higher percentage especially on that oil pattern and he still would have taken the count on the nine but hey i just wanted his input anyways

Why did C squad have so much higher scores?
Did Keven bowl that badly? Almost all of the first shots of his were splits.
Sandy Reale Sandy Reale 0 seconds ago hey man maybe you can try my idea....Take an old favorite stacked layout that called for weighthole. since we cant have weighthole...calculate amount of weight that would have been removed from balance hole.. then from where weighthole wouldve been, instead go to exact neg placement of that hole and drill here instead and add precise amount of lead to that hole creating the original specs of balance hole and nplug it up. Now you still are legal but will ball react the same as balanced hole ball? youve just added it to other side.

So what did we learn today kids? The US Open pattern is brutal! That 240 average you bowl at home on kiddie house shot patterns don't mean anything out here.

I bowl in several sport shot patterns leagues and we have several money tournaments you can enter throughout the year. I’m avg 218 on sport shots, well one tournament we did the US Open patterns. 12 game qualifying round you bowled 3 games on four different patterns. Let’s just say usual tournament the leaders avg is 220-230s this tournament the leader was 204. I finished qualifying with a 196. Lost my first matchup in 5 and that was my tournament. He’s not kidding some of the best amateur bowlers out there we’re having bad games in the 140s.
Why not just throw straight at the pins? For some reason I've never quite saw the benefit of a hook. More negatives than positives. Since it is fairly easy to get strikes straight at it offset head pin, there must be a pocket geometry that is consistent. I mean the hook looks cool and sells more balls, and maybe more fun, but really question it as a necessity. Imagine how easy the lanes would be!
@angelaleaga718
Жыл бұрын
No Dave I used to bowl straight and never get better. My avg jump 20 to 30 pins with a hook. It gives a much better angle to the pocket. No one gets better throwing straight all the time.
@davepalmer9265
Жыл бұрын
@@angelaleaga718 sounds like you probably practiced more when you bought a new ball and practice the hook. I never peaked out. To say you don't improve bowling straight, is flat out wrong. I started with 110 average bowled for a summer 3-4 times a week. Had 165 average and broke into the 200s on my best games. I improved greatly in just a couple months. I dont doubt that I could average 200+ bowling straight at the head. (Offset 25% off center pin) i have never had a throw I liked miss a strike. Only if threw poorly, and it rarely seemed to split. I can see maybe there is more room for error hooking because the lane dictates where the break starts. But when playing on longer patterns would make things more difficult.
@angelaleaga718

@davepalmer9265 I guess you are in the minority because pros and very high amateur bowlers throw a hook ball. God bless you . I was a 140 to 160 throwing straight for 20 plus years and now am basically 175 to 185 with a hook.

Sometimes according to the oil pattern throwing straighter with a bit less hook works good.
But you bragged about averaging 285 in your last tournament!!!!! WTF!!!
This music has me sleeping. Other than that I like seeing the videos
If it's 49 feet of oil, you might need a reactive ball for that.
It was so nice watching the guy bowling with one hand. The two hand method is legal cheating in my eyes.
Does this massive flat pattern hurt or help southpaws
@flipper9038

From experience on flat stuff, it gets harder eventually for them. Since there aren't alot of lefties most of the time, it makes it harder for them to create some area like the right handers can.
