Watching that just gave me bowling ptsd…. I’d rather hit myself on the head with a tack hammer for three hours than to ever bowl on that stuff again. Lol Much respect to you guys, hang in there! Just keep making good shots and filling frames, it will turn your way just be ready for it when it does!

@@crimsontide1980 thank you, I appreciate that! All is good here. Yeah this brings back a lot of memories, I used to love the grind of tough tournaments like this. I could count on half the field just giving up. Lol It’s a different game these days, so many good young players right now! I bowl 3 games a week and probably bowl 5-6 tournaments a year with my son jerod, really enjoying that part!

@@justinhromek73 Thats awesome and yes you are right, the amount of talented bowlers these days is insane. I never went pro but I bowled all the way from age 6 to about 3 years ago, would usually bowl 4 or 5 leagues at a time and about 5 or 6 tourneys a year. I just started back after a 3 year break from letting an injury heal up,getting old ain't much fun sometimes, plus raising 2 kids doesn't allot for nearly as much time to bowl. Now I'm just bowling one league and practicing maybe 9 games a week. The level of talent these days is amazing, and the amount of revs and power these kids can put on the ball, even the smaller kids, is just unreal! To this day I still watch the PBA events on TV, but I gind myself more often than not watching the older events, especially mid 80s to early 90s between KZread and I have about 30 old VHS tapes loaded down with PBA shows I recorded when I was a kid.Thank you for taking the time to respond back to me, I'm so glad to hear that you've been going great and that you still are actively bowling. Take care, Justin

Before I say this, I’m NOT saying I would’ve scored any better in my day but, we ran into some tough conditions at the ABC tournaments. What I found back then ( being a power player myself ) was you simply couldn’t get a consistent reaction with a high rev rate. I just went with my “ C” game straight up the back of the ball no wrist increased speed just trying to keep it in play. With makeable leaves and catching a double here or there, grinding out 190’s -200’s. Then, if the lanes came around a bit, then increase your rev rate from there. I always enjoyed the tougher patterns that tested my abilities to make adjustments not only with equipment and moving in or out but also hand positioning etc. sure it’s fun to bowl on a carrying contest and averaging in the 230’s but testing your ability to make spares and grind out a decent score was a lot of fun too. Good luck guys!

So this "hard" pattern is probably easier than what I bowled on in the 1970's.... The lane conditoner was a 1963 model with three jets that sprayed an even mist over the wooden lane... No one used more than 1 bowling ball (rubber or plastic), usually for the whole year... There were nights where on a 16 team mens leage the highest triple wasn't a 600.. I'd love to see these pros bowl against each other on those conditions..thanks for the video

Hey Housemtes, here's a great fun game for after the stress of the Opem....FOOTFAULT. Normal gameplay applies. Every 1st shot must score the same as the frame number. Make it and you keep the score, miss it an you have to foot fault it. 2nd ball after successful 1st, go for the spare...Make it & keep the score, miss it & foot faulr ir. 2nd ball after miss 1st, try again...Make it & keep the score, miss it & foot fault it. Can't wait to see a video of this.

Thought I'd mention how uncomfortable this was to watch, but everyone has already said it for me. Phantom break point, ugh. In the 90's and early 2000's I was a lane man and was bloody good at it too. Back in the 3 unit rule days with dinosaur equipment, shims, even a bug sprayer to bump up the heads. when the boss wanted big scores, but don't get busted thats what he got. the ABC tried to nail me so bad, 10 out of 12 spot checks would be us. Never had a bad test or a hi score tossed out, but Dennis the ABC cop would show up twice a week sometimes. Half a dozen centers in the region had never been checked in 5 or 6 years but i got 2 visits in 3 days once. I enjoyed putting a super challenging condition like this out every so often. Keep the guys honest. Not a stupid unplayable shot, but very different. Move them in or make them go slow straight up the boards. Some guys would whine and cry or even make direct threats. On those nights and I learned (the hard way) to park my car down the street at Wal-mart or wherever. But most of the better players would just give me a look and figure it out. Those guys could travel anywhere and do well because they could figure out strange shots in strange places and adapt, quickly. Then I got headhunted by an automotive manufacturing company and quit to go make some real $$$. Everybody was sad and the center had finally upgrade their lane equipment (finally). helped a bit but...
