Gotta love the stans in this comment section, thinking they could bowl any better on that left lane. May have been fortunate, but boog worked just as hard to get there as anyone else. The lanes were completely shot, and no one had a great look out there on either lane. Some lucky breaks for sure, but he had to bowl 30+ games just to get on the show and beat out 100 other people. He had to bowl the pre qualifier just to make it to the actual tournament. So maybe we just congratulate the guy who won and all be happy for this man getting his first title! I'm not sure why everyone is always so negative and toxic these days. Can't ever just be happy for someone. Bet if you were in his shoes, you'd happily take every break he got too!

They're both right at the top of my list of favorites as well. I went back to college in my late 20's/early 30's and bowled in college for 3 of my 4 years against Bill O'Neill in the same conference (American Heartland). I bowled in the same tournament with him about 40-50 times over those 3 years. He was always a class act and far more mature (on and off the lanes) than everyone else!!! 100% class! I have a weird quasi-connection with Chris Barnes. I've only met him a few times (and not since 1989 or 1990), so all before he turned pro (he was still in college at the time). We both played another sport together and are in a small, private Facebook group (~100 members) together for the past decade. Even thought I don't really know him, a lot of my friends in that same group know him pretty well say the same things about him... 100% class.

Traveled 8 hours with a friend and watched the entire week of qualifying (Mon-Fri) and met Guppy there, he was selling stuff like rosin bags (Guppy's Gripper). There was a lot of down time and I talked to him a few times during the week and got his autograph, but he was just such a cool guy. The apple didn't fall far from the tree. That tournament in Maryland was the infamous one where Del Ballard threw the gutter ball to lose (to Pete Weber)... but we didn't stay to watch the show because my friend had to be back in town for a wedding that day. :(

Sometimes a series of events can perfectly encapsulate bowling. Krol gets a run away Brooklyn, then Bill O'Neill throws a perfect strike shot and leaves a ringing 10, then Krol comes back and tries to correct for the Brooklyn and throws an ugly one through the nose and opens the game wide open. "Strikes and gutters" as they say.

I don't get all of the criticism of Krol for an "undeserved win". If it was so undeserved, who deserves it? One of the other bowlers who didn't perform well enough to beat him? I understand Krol got lucky, but that's just a part of the game. Not a valid reason to criticize him. On top of that, he literally apologized after his first Brooklyn and looked completely disgusted every time he got a lucky break. He absolutely knows how lucky he got, and he was very humble about it. Just let the guy enjoy his moment.

To be fair, most people really just want good tv. In this case, the matches were hard to watch cause you have 2 younger bowlers who have 0 idea of how to handle a pattern that’s breaking down this hard. This one was a hard watch. Nothing wrong with wanting to see some quality bowling, and this wasn’t it.

First of all, shout out to the pba and the show and cast and crew. I'm 70 years old. One time I make seven brooklyns in a row in lead play. For some reason I just couldn't get it on the right side of the lane right? You know was you know what that's all about but we won and win League and there's always your dues online and you're trying to be at the end of the season in the first place or something. At least the first top three brooklyns are brokers. People might frown but if I'm teaching somebody and they're right-handed I'd tell them to go in between the one and the three on that side. You know what I mean. Oh well, great production. Keep it up😊

This is my #1 gripe about PBA coverage. Why can't Fanta just shut up once the bowler is in his setup? The idle chatter adds nothing and potentially distracts the bowler.

They sit way down lane away from the bowlers. They can't hear them. They are down by the pins on the next lane over.

That's my problem. I throw around 13.4 to 14.3. So on conditions like this I'd probably get murdered. Then again I'd love to try it and see how I do.

I bowl one hand thumb out and between 14.5 and 15 on the monitor. I can't hardly throw reactives on anything less that 43 feet. It also makes it tough to get around the ball returns when bowling on the right lane. If I stand in front, my ball speed goes down to 13-14 and the ball hooks even more.

@@ripvanrevs That's why I love my Black Venom. It isn't as angular and it doesn't have a shiny cover so it won't snap. Problem is if I'm forced to move far left and throw it out my speed drops a little. As of late from the middle I can throw it at 14-15. I'll see how it goes this summer in the sport shot league.
