Holy mackerel ! I am 60 years old now. I stumbled onto this video by watching other live performances of Gary Lewis. This took my back to when i actually watched this show live on television. I remember going wild over this performance and this song. It really got me going. and I also forgotten how much the songs he recorded inspired me to play music and perform myself. I have to give Gary a lot of credit and props. What great songs he had back in the 60's. Man this show Jerry had was fantastic. Jerry really seemed like he was a great father, at least on TV. Other videos that have surfaced --its kinda sad really, in the end of it all. I was alos a huge fan of Jerry / Dean movies. Some of the best and funniest, great writing and classic comedy. One thing is for sure-There is nobody like Jerry Lewis-he was one of a kind.

I know that Jerry Lewis was close friends with Tony Curtis. And Tony Curtis did basically the same thing with his children--left them out of his will. Wonder if they influenced each other? I hang on to a Scripture, Matthew - (Jesus said) "Judge not, that ye be judged." (Forgive me, if I got the wrong Book). But--as a huge Jerry Lewis fan, I have to admit--it did seem strange to me--also. Still love Jerry--and Gary Lewis. Pray that the remaining kids and widow will get along.

I'm not exactly sure where Jerry's son was stationed at, but his son, Gary Lewis did serve in the Military, I believe it was the Army, and that was During the Vietnam war. Now I'm sure being the way thing's were back in those days, Someone could have come up with some Medical reason, to keep him out,,, ie, Bone Spurs, But, instead Gary Lewis was a real Patriot. Just like John Mccain. To me, these are the People that are Real Hero's, Anyway, It's Just My Opinion, 👍

Gary was in Vietnam for 5 months, before being transferred over to Korea. The Generals wanted him to entertain troops, but he refused and wanted to serve like every other grunt. Jerry gets a bit of a bad rap...as far as being a cold father and uncaring. He had his hands full with "No. 1"..as he called Gary. When Gary got back from the service...he was heavy into drugs and suffered from depression. He couldn't be bothered with The Playboy's or show business. According to Gary himself...he just wanted to drink, do drugs and not remember. He saw just a bit of action in the army and he was reassigned. He was traumatized for quite some time afterward. Jerry forced him back into the limelight...he lost his will to do anything.

Obviously Lip Synced in this Performance. Jerry Lewis's show at this point was having poor ratings. Gary lewis hadn't had a hit in 2 years and we're on the decline. Unfortunately they had to resort to playing an old hit(4 Years by that point) On the show. Jerry lewis was a fine performer but was alot funnier in a duo Ala Dean Martin and was Quite subpar solo. Just seems he tries too hard to come up with a joke.
