Heroin was sold as an over-the-counter painkiller up until 1924. People in general used to be much more cavalier in the use of recreational chemicals.

This was a trait of the character Sam Vines from the Discworld books. Except he kept getting the amount wrong so he was always either pessimistic towards most things (from not drinking enough) or totally drunk.

This sketch is 12 years old now. It is time.

This sketch is 100% true... during college before any big test I’d drink a mikes hard lemonade and sip a second while taking the test online.... I made near perfect scores, where as I second guessed myself so much normally that I’d end up at around an 82 with out it. One time I just drank the second to quickly and finished it before the test.... I failed that single test hahaha

Also a little drunk, but that's besides the point. Or is it? Anyway, it does work. it seems to work better for those of us with really bad second-guessing. I am studying for a test right now, actually! Well, supposed to be. I'll probably still ace it, tbh. All because I enjoy existing a little more. If it works, it works! Binge-drinking is inherently stupid, but a drink or two so you're barely at the threshold? It seems to work just fine for me!

Our sense of humour and observational awareness are so important to us. Love these guys.

Perhaps as well as having a legal limit for drunk drinving, we should introduce a minimum threshold to ease road rage.

You know this is actually true, but it is a very fine line, every person has slightly different tolerance so it is very hard to pinpoint the sweet spot. Drink too much and your effectivness declines, too little and there is no effect, but drink just enough and you are your perfect self without any downsides.

I find when I play poker, the sweet spot is exactly 1.5 drinks. I'm relaxed enough to make the big bets when necessary, but I'm still able to play at my best.

I remember being 17 and actually planning to drink wine everyday before going to school because everytime I had it, it made me more confident and relaxed. I might as well have been visited by the inebriatis and be running against the psychopath who leads my country right now

If you enjoyed these sketches I can't recommend highly enough the movie Another Round, starring Mads Mikkelsen - basically the same plot, but they are all high school teachers (but it gets very depressing) and has a beautiful ending!
