Sorry about the issues in part 1, OpenShot doesn't show it in the timeline but does when exported. One might ask, "If the channel named That Look has uploaded all of these in 1080p, why make this?", but if you have two monitors and view the same second-ish side by side, you'll see that even though this is 720p, it is much clearer. I'd heard of Crowhurst but only vaguely. I looked him up and found this on the Wikipedia page: "Although rambling and incoherent at times, he was attempting to set down, for the benefit of mankind, a "revelation" or new understanding that he believed he had discovered regarding the relationship between man and the universe. Life, as experienced by man, was a "game", overseen by "cosmic beings," apparently God (or several gods) and the Devil, who set the rules by which "the game" was played." No idea if that was also in their mind when they wrote the sketch(es), but weirdly relevant to the idea of having to keep playing the game.

I love all the little touches, like the Host wearing an incredibly 80s suit - probably because it was in storage for years and survived The Event, Sheila wearing the clothes of a supermarket worker, probably what she was doing that when it happened. The fact it’s being filmed on old style cameras and has transmission problems, because the power grid is unstable, probably being run by just a few people. The clips and photos they show are all from film, probably because it was stored safely and not destroyed by any potential radiation and EMP from the Event. Most people are blinded by the event, but Peter was blinded by raiders like some apocalyptic Mad Max situation. The conveyor belt scene has all the people going past in quasi-fascist military uniforms that suggests there’s some rudimentary form of government, probably a dictatorship ruling by control of food. Everyone seems to have lost the concept of time because they’re not really sure how long they’ve been in there, or even what a month is. I think whatever happened involved nuclear and radiation, and what’s left of humanity lives underground. Nearly everybody is infertile due to irradiation, and there’s no children so the population remaining is slowly dying.

If you enjoy this story about culture disintegrating in the wake of technological breakdown and civil disorder, you might enjoy the classic sci-fi novel _A Canticle for Leibowitz_ by Walter Miller. A friend of mind told me several years ago that full strength sci-fi is one of the few ways you can get weird enough to match how weird the world is going to get over the next few decades and my God, he's dead on so far.

I really want to know if there was a reason Mitchell and Webb chose BS490 Fault Rectified specifically, or it it was a random number. BS 490 is related to lifts (elevators) and conveyor belting materials. Rather stupidly the information for that British Standard needs to be purchased. EDIT: I only wonder because it seems like a little joke Mitchell might have put in but I don't get it. It was also very brief just before you see him struggling with the blind Webb character over the box
