The fact that back then, a woman would stand behind the bride to hide the tail might explain the reason why every bride in America and Europe must have bridesmaids. Just a thought really but maybe something to investigate.

These Fae have always captivated me, I actually somehow knew of them before I ever actually discovered the legends. When I was a small child, my mom says I would randomly get upset over “not having a tail” or “when can I have my tail back?” This was before I could read, and it kept on and on. I’d always felt like I wanted a long tail with a black rift of fur at the end. No reason or explanation for this. A lot of times my parents would get angry and tell me to stop being so damn weird and I’d end up running around in the woods for the rest of the day to avoid them. And once I discovered the legends of the Huldrefolk, it’s almost like an unexplained drive to learn everything I can about them. They truly fascinate me to no end, even now i still sometimes wish I had a tail

Seen a depiction of a Hulder in a game and thought she was strange yet fascinating. Despite the character being malignant I doubted this to be the case and so I looked it up. Thankfully this has brought me to your video.

Was it Bramble the Mountain King? If so, the Skogra boss was my fav. She kicked my ass so many times but I loved her and was also fascinated by her. Hated I had to kill her at the end though. lol sorry this comment is so late.

George MacDonald must have been thinking of the Huldra when he created the Maid of the Alder Tree for his book "Phantastes." This evil creature pretended to be the hero's object of affection, and lulled him to sleep in a cave. When he awoke, he saw her from behind and was horrified to see that she was hollow.

I have talked to two people who claim to have seen the huldra, a mythical creature in Scandinavian folklore. One of them a good friend of mine met her on a path he walked on his way to school. He lived remotely and had to walk on a path to get there. He says he met a woman walking towards him who looked angry at him before she swung into the dense forest. He then saw the tail sticking up from the dress. The other person was an old lady who said that when she was a child, she and her whole family saw a woman who went and picked twigs on a logging field in old fashion clothes for them. Everyone saw the tail before she suddenly disappeared.

How come your Scandinavian pronunciation sounds so good? The Scandinavian tale you relate as the the origin of the hidden folk is similar to an English tale on the origin of faeries. In this Adam's first wife is Lilith and they have a child and when God comes to visit to see the child as it hasn't been washed and they are ashamed they hide it from God who decrees that whatsoever has been hidden from him will henceforth be hidden from mankind, this is why faeries are so hard to see. Lilith later leaves Adam and God has to provide him with another wife, Eve, and humans are descended from that union while the faerie folk are from the first with Lilith.

I struggle to understand the logic of people from the past. A woman fears God will judge her, then God proceeds to judge her, and punish her children by hiding them from the rest of the world? That story makes God look really bad. One would think that would be offensive to religious people back then. It's so hard to understand how people in the past thought. It seems like concepts like compassion and understanding were often seen as a weakness back then. Maybe that's why it's so hard to understand these ancient people? It's so difficult to understand another person's perspective today, but doing so for someone from an ancient culture is even harder.

Sacred Sister there is a true story on my channel on a video called "The Blessing" I made where I am standing in my old backyard playing guitar to the Crows and Magpies in the tree across from the kitchen door. After about 15 mins a Maiden stepped out from behind the not particularly wide tree and looking me straight in the eyes and laughing she skipped down the verge towards me and ducked down behind the wall never to be seen again. She had very long chestnut coloured hair and was very beautiful wearing a cream coloured shift of some kind. Your stories bring her to mind although I do think of her often. Like you said "magically charming" for sure I would go.
