Mermaids and Mermen in Scandinavian Folklore and Myths

Elusive and mysterious creatures in Nordic folk beliefs, the merfolk - mermaids, mermen and other variations are often said to live both in the sea, as well inland lakes and mountain waters. They have to power to curse those who wrong them, and help those who show them kindness.

This was so beautiful! I have enjoyed mermaids since a young age. Your voice is so enchanting, you deserve so many more subs! Children must love your storytelling.

In Denmark we have slattenlangpat (slack long breasts) She lived half on land and half in water, while her children lived in the water. Therefore, long breasts were needed when they had to be breastfeed. Her children were mermaids and mermen.

What happenned to your long blond hair Equinox? Come on, you aren't fooling anyone. We all know you are a mermaid. You can bewitch people and force them to watch your videos just by the sound of your beautiful voice! 😁 I kinda understand now why japanese mermaid (ningyo) are evil. You gotta respect folks from the sea and not turn them into sushi. Keep doing the good work Equinox. 😘
