The Huawei ban is MUCH bigger than you think

Ғылым және технология

Huawei is getting blacklisted by the United States. The tech company was added to the Commerce Department’s Entities List, a de facto ban on US companies selling to Huawei. It’s part of an ugly trade war between the US and China, and it goes a lot deeper than what you’ve probably read.

Samsung comes from a great country that doesn't meddle across the world unlike US, China and even the EU to an extent. So good, Samsung and it's country deserves this, you should be rewarded for not sewing chaos for political / fiscal gain. They are all bad in their own way from proxy wars to debt traps but South Korea, it's trying to make peace with North Korea.. that's how they work. If only Europe and the rest of the world would learn and no, nobody forces us to do what we do directly and/or indirectly - it's purely us and our gain too.

This piece was either poorly researched or disingenuous. At this point China has very few valid options to counter this move. The United States is China's largest customer. China is by far not the US's largest customer. Any retaliatory attempt to shut off a company like foxconn would inflict unimaginable pain on China as well. China's chief sticking point has been the US requirement that they change their laws regarding foreign partnerships and intellectual property rights to make it possible for a foreign entity to operate freely within their borders and to sue if their technology is stolen. I personally expect that this move will end up being leverage over China in negotiations.

Huawei has already made their own OS as a back-up plan which will support Android apps. But the problem is that they won't be able to use apps from US companies (KZread, Gmail, Netflix, Facebook, etc.) and also it's not easy to get people to start using a new OS.

I am really glad that this happening now, not 50 years later. Because now the rest of the world still has time to perform risk analysis on the Huawei vs U.S. case and we now understand how much we are exposed to threats from U.S. tech companies and from one single person in the oval office. Huawei might not survive, but this sure as hell marks the turning point of global tech movement, where companies and technologies steer away from a centralized, non-redundant tech-ecosystem.
