The western world was "kind". They donate food, cloth, and something else they don't need or extra things or their used stuff to underdeveloped countries. They help you, but they just help you stay at the level where you just can survive, you cannot become stronger by yourself under their help. It makes you just like a tool to show how they are kind. But China helps you build the infrastructures (school, Traffic system, hospital..... ) gives you the technologies, and helps your people get education opportunities in China to study technology. With Chinses help you can develop your own economy and you can be stronger by yourself.

Africa: But we can't afford to build railways and ports for fast transportation. China: How about this, I'll help you build railways and ports. It makes it easier for us to do business and also for you to develop your own economy. Africa: That's a solid win-win! Couldn't be better. Nice deal! Some westerners from nowhere: EXPLOITATION! Daniel Military bases are signed by treaties firstly, so America is there because they have permission to be there. Well back then there wasn't a world wide community where everyone could just talk over things nicely. Europe never had that luxury but china does. Either way you look at it, China is still exploiting them, and with China tinkering with face recognition and advanced surveillance systems, couple that with their totalitarian style rule and you've got a disaster waiting to happen. Imagine European kings of the 1600-1800's with advanced surveillance all across Africa. Chances are they'd still have complete control over Africa to this day.

I think it was just showing how the two countries were working together. The reason I brought up the fact was because it was so reoccurring. You couldn't drive more then 10 miles, more in Kenya then Uganda, without seeing a Chinese flag painted on a wall or an advertisement for a Chinese company on the side of the road.

France does a lot of good work improving the health of African, figures like Dr Dider Raoult are considered in Africa as national heroes. It is because of Dr Raoult hydroxychloroquine treatment methods that Africa is unscathed by covid19, while the west is ravaged because this drug is banned. And it is banned only because it is VERY CHEAP. I would worry about people like Bill Gates instead of France. They control global health care and use not only Africa but their own people as guinea pigs for toxic vaccines.

There was pre colonialism which was cool I guess, then colonialism which sucked for the natives of the colonised nations then post-colonialism which was/is basically a whole lot of chaos for a number of different reasons. I'd love to have someone to point to and say, "You are the singular reason for this continent's failure" but it's a combination of a number of things of which both Africans and non-Africans are guilty.

Towards the end, this video basically says: "Now that China has done all the hard work of helping Africa's industrialization to take off, western companies should establish themselves throughout Africa." Nothing wrong with that, but why all the hate against China in the first place? Apparently the Chinese knew what they were doing, and they are doing an excellent job. Why was the West unable to realize Africa's industrialization in the past 50 years ? Also, there is talk about human rights, but industrialization is the biggest human right there is; all human beings have the right to live in dignity and prosperity. Poverty and underdevelopment is a crime against humanity.

My favorite part is comparing Chinese economic relationships with Africa as "colonialism". Then why isn't any other economic relationship "colonialism"? Did America "colonialist" China by setting up factories there? Here's the big difference: 1) colonialism by western powers was done by Military Power. You did what they wanted or they shot you in the face. 2. Chinese and African relationships are Voluntary Economic relationships. They came to terms mutually, and African nations are free to stop doing business China at anytime without getting shot in the face.

Because it was American private companies that set up factories in China, and they only manufacture things there, they don't require China as a country to do anything for them or to give them over its natural resources. Which is what China is doing, they help African countries in order to get their votes in the UN, or when they can't pay back (which they often can't because many of those countries are poor and corrupt) they take over control of their resources or strategically important points, like ports. That's why it is compared to colonialism, they're using economic aid as a tool to extract African countries' resources.

China has gained no power on African anything with this loan because when it comes to countries the only constraint for repaying is morality. Greece for instance. Africa can deny this debt and their government can take back what China is owned when they feel bullied by China because there is no military threat from China. That's the most significant difference between this "business" and "colonialism". They ally with China rather than the bullies who came to their land build nothing and scavenge for 100 years.

The US is far from perfect, at least the US does nottry to silence deserting opinion. I can't tell you how many times my comments have been blocked on Chinese new paper websites, never once in USA. And I have criticized both governments. I am actually rather kind to China, but they have a very narrow tolerance for amyone who has a different opinion or perspective. China will agree with you as long as it is in their interest. China thinks that the whole South China Sea belongs to them because it's named after then. China claims ocean territory over Taiwan, Philippines, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Brunei. About 2,500 km away from their boarder. What China deems reasonable is ridiculosly unfair to everyone else. And of course these nations will not agree to China's bullying. US maybe backwards in their policies, but they are not aggressively trying to take control of other nations assets. China engages in predatory loans lending large sums of money host countries can never pay back, China builds the infrastructure foe them and then the infrastructure is sold back to China because they can't pay the loans. China built for Sri Lanka a $1.5 billion dollar port. Sri couldn't pay the debt, now China has control of the port for 99 years. This is just one of many stories. China will do it to you too. China screwed Taiwan over too, Taiwan allowed China tourism to increase them because President Tsai was elected to Taiwan China banned you're still to Taiwan hurting the local tourism economy. give them what they want. They will treat you well, have a Duffy opinion from them, the government will try to hurt you by any means necessary. I don't like to distrust China but their constant actions leaves me no other options. My friend, I just advise be cautious, and keep your eyes open. Pay close attention to the new silk road activitiesfrom China. And watch their relations with the local countries. China will drill for oil on your land and not ask your permission.... They did that to Vietnam...

Donate to UNICEF to help the starving penguins. When climate change melts Antarctica, be prepared to take in hundreds of thousands of Antarctican refugees, especially if you live in Greenland or Norway. So what if they're street-shitting and demand unsustainable amounts of free fish. We need them for population replacement. No it's not genocide; we already committed genocide on our native penguins, the Great Auks, hence our dire need to replace them.

Great job simplifying and explaining this current geopolitical trend. I wrote my Master’s thesis on China’s wielding of soft power in sub-saharan Africa, and after 3 years of research I can say you hit almost all of the main points. Props to you 👍

ECA Joseph Nye, who coined the term, said that soft power is power other than military and economic, which are both hard power. A lot of people use their own definitions, but I think most of them agree on those two being hard power, Like, China has a huge movie-watching market, and only allows a few foreign made films in each year. So they tell Hollywood to say nice things about China in their movies or their movies won't be let in. That's hard power. Then people around the world watch Hollywood movies and hear nice things about China. That's soft power.

The US only interested in military projects, strategic base and war programs in Africa in the last 30 years. The US main interest were to arm the African as part of the US military. Go check out the history the peak of US influence in Africa. The European only interested in colonialism. They strip and take as much as possible back to Europe. Go check out the history of that. African were sick and tired of wars proudly made in the USA and robbing their resources and slavery by the European nations. Why wasn't all these were were mentioned? This video is paid and produced by the WEST with only one-sided story. Therefore bad and inaccurate video. This video deserves to be awarded from the Hall of Shame.

Anyone can do this, but only China is persisting, providing infrastructure and jobs to Africa.
