Whether anyone likes it or not, one has to admit that Chinese tech companies being in the mobile device market has made feature phones extremely affordable to anyone and everyone. When the Chinese levelled up their tech game, the entire world felt that, particularly Apple and Samsung who then decided to put flagship features into budget phones. So I'm grateful to Huawei and the rest of the Chinese tech manufacturers for doing that, if it weren't for them I'd never be enjoying the rich online content like I am doing now. Moving from Samsung to Xiaomi was the best decision ever for me.

Couple of errors in the video: #1: EXISTING phones will continue to receive updates beyond the 90 days’ extension. This is because the ban applies to NEW devices. #2: ZTE was found guilty in a court of law of wrongdoing. They fired employees and accepted US oversight as part of the negotiations to resume operations. Huawei has never been found guilty of any wrongdoing. The distance between the two companies is significant.

Existing phones are allowed to get updates, but will not because huawei is expected to abandon the old phones completely to try and develop new ones that won’t have android. What he is saying is that huawei is not going to put forth the money and effort pointlessly to keep the android os up to date with future os updates because it won’t be beneficial for their company.

No, Huawei's CFO I believe is in Canada under house arrest ready to be sent to the US because they violated sanctions. Canada is having a TON of pressure from China, including arrests and possible show trials for canadians in china.

Again, this is about phones already out there with Android in them, not whatever the future holds for new phones

This is really informative, I own a Huawei p20 pro, had it for 2 years, amazing phone, amazing camera - have had hardly any issues with it at all, other than connectivity with Android Auto but now looking for a new phone similar to specs of the Huawei p20 pro, due to the 90 days now expired of google updates, was going to get the OnePlus 8 pro, but seen a few reviews on the oppo find x2 pro and your review on it, and I am going to look into that phone a bit more, its the only one I have found that is close to specs of the Huawei phone and is available to buy in the UK. Sucks about Huawei being blacklisted by Trump though, best phone I have ever had, but who knows what can happen in the coming months..

Yeah, but this kind of stunt can work once and only once. Now Samsung and everybody else will be looking how to replace Google's apps because what will happen if the US decides to do this to South Korea (Samsung) next. Google is big, very, very big ... not as big as all other companies combined.

@@khrbud That won't happen. China has been banning US companies from China for years, state sponsored organizations have been stealing US companies IP for years, and hasn't allowed free competition. Not to mention the concerns over Chinese spying using Huawei hardware. South Korea on the other hand allows free competition and is one of the US's closest allies.

3 years from then, here's some changes I still have my P30 pro totally supported with latest software, the Kirin 980 is a beast I left Apple for Huawei I started with the p10 Plus till the P30 pro , they built the Harmony Os Ecosystem that is shining each year , they are upgrading their App gallery and filling it , they didn't stop taking their independence, US gov still tanging on them but they are finding alternatives I guess Huawei is the toughest tech giant company I've ever seen and maybe in near future they'll make it, it still hard to run globally as Google but they are making their pathway and their devices wow are the toughest ones in the market , now I'm thinking on getting the Pixel 7 pro maybe one day I'll get back when the Harmony Os reaches the global sufficiency

can someone help me? I still don't understand *why* Huawei got banned, I understand what it means and what is it gonna do and that's pretty sad, but what caused it?

So if I buy a second hand P8 lite on 2020 is there literally no google apps?? Playstore? All the games and apps?

Watching this a year later on an up to date Huawei phone

And to think for all these years people always questioned and criticized and mocked Samsung for continuously offering "duplicate apps" on their phones that do the same thing Google's apps do... and for developing their own alternative OS (Tizen)... and for having their own separate app store... And now we see Huawei as Exhibit A of precisely WHY they always did this. It seems they're more forward thinking than any of us ever realized.

Also there is no proof for Huawei's spying. US has not given any evidence yet apparently according to some comments here.

@Cynthia Baker Everyone takes and uses each others ideas. one thing to note. Trump said that he's willing to use huawei and the Meng Wanzhou to get a better deal from china. That can mean 2 things. EIther huawei is a threat to national security, and trump is willing to overlook that threat to make himself look better because he got a deal with china. or. Huawei is innocent, and trump is illegally using a person and a company as hostage...

Their handsets were making the competition look bad. Apples had some time to catch up now and Samsung have failed with copying the P40 with the S20 line up - Overall it had to be done to protect the interests of Apple and the US

It's been a good free advertising for Huawei and ZTE. Not forgetting Ericsson and Nokia both have about 40% of their 5G products made in China and in joint ventures with Chinese companies. It will be interesting to see how things goes.
