I grew up listening to conservative and Christian talk radio and being heavily indoctrinated into hardcore right wing stuff....thank god for Jon Stewart. I started watching the daily show late at night when I was at my dad's house and everyone was asleep and it was shocking to find that a lot of what I'd been hearing and reading every day was not as....how do I put this...factual...as I had been led to believe. Because of the format he presented (funny and taking jabs at mostly everyone) I kept watching and eventually my viewpoints started to change. This, coupled with my experiences in the real world once I moved out at 18, helped me realized that much of what I grew up believing just wasn't true. And now in my late 30s I am pretty much the opposite of how I was raised.

That's really great, I'm glad you made it out too. For me it was Colbert first. His parody of the ridiculousness of conservatives really made me question the Bible bubble of my "community" (people who pretended to be good as an excuse to be self-righteous while they belittled & abused others). That led me to John Stewart & his funny/critical take on things, & between both his & Colbert's shows, those guys were basically my Dad's. I seriously think their mainstream shows kept the walls of crazy at bay for years by making the right have a clear line of "this is too ridiculous.") Now it's difficult to parody reality since the right has gone so far off the rails entirely, but I still watch both Stewart's & Colbert's shows & current endeavors.

@@partyboat123 Okay, I will admit that the situation regarding the fines for unvaccinated people in Australia is ridiculous. As far as those “secluded camps” those are for returning international travelers who are to quarantine for 14 days, they’re not being systematically starved or being made to dig their own graves and shot in the back of the head. You’re seriously going to tell me that is the same thing as people being persecuted and murdered because of their ethnicity? First off, international travelers made the decision to go abroad, Jews in Nazi occupied Europe along with other people targeted by the Nazis did not make the decision to go to Auschwitz, Buchenwald, and Treblinka. They also didn’t get to stay for 14 days and just leave afterwards. People make the decision to be unvaccinated, but people don’t get to make the decision when it comes to being Jewish or Slavic. Lastly, people aren’t getting the vaccine out of “fear!” it’s simply out of common sense and not putting their lives at risk. I actually know of people who thought like you, they though the vaccines and masks were all “fear!” and now they’re dead when all they had to do was simply get a shot. Also, this isn’t the first time where vaccines were mandatory where were these anti-vax people screeching about “oppression!” when it comes to children having to take Hepatitis-B shots in order to go to school?

People don’t choose to get the shot when income, family and potentially not being able to participate in society. how many clot shots is technically the correct amount? I have done academic reports about the technology called CRSPR which is used in this clot shot. This tendinitis jab doesn’t use a dead virus like a traditional inoculation, this experiment uses dna rewriting to ‘prevent’ the illness from being caught. I implore you to see that the real problem is not covid but obesity. Obesity is the common denominator with all these deaths, even after “vaxxed”. True the government overreaches all the time and the citizens pay, but due to religious freedoms here in America you do not have to get any vaccines, though I am not anti vax. I have all be shots from measles to tetanus. The difference is those are legit vaccines and this is not. There's a excerpt from the conclusion of Dan Olson's "In Search of a Flat Earth" (kzread.info/dash/bejne/fIiayruyhNi6ZJc.html) that I think does a lot in explaining the conspiratorial mindset: "The purpose of cosmologies like Q, like Flat Earth, is to simplify the world ... All the world’s complexity, all the chaos, it’s all the fault of one group. Not an ideology, not a worldview, not historical inertia, not anything so nebulous as the way we think about the world. A single, tangible, identifiable group with a written agenda. "The reason they aren’t more bothered [...] by the extreme inconsistencies and outright contradictions, by the claims that are just materially wrong, is because it gives them power over others who are bound by something as weak and flimsy as reality. They claim to be against corruption while hanging their hopes on an openly corrupt man, and that naked hypocrisy is the point. They will effortlessly carve out an exception because it makes them exceptional. They engage in wild hypocrisy as an act of domination, adhering to something demonstrably untrue out of spite, because they believe that power belongs to those with the greatest will to take it, and what greater sign of will than the ability to override truth? Their will is a hammer that they are using to beat reality itself into a shape of their choosing, a simple world where reality is exactly what it looks like through their eyes, devoid of complexity, devoid of change, where they are right and their enemies are silent." (I'd highly recommend anyone interested to watch the full documentary. It's fascinating.)

Even if Kyle had acted in self defense, which is of course the narrative that the right is pushing, it seems kind of icky to treat him like a hero. If I truly felt remorse for taking people's lives, no matter how justified my actions might have been, I would feel real gross about being celebrated for it. Just saying. It makes his tears at that trial seem MIGHTY disingenuous, if you ask me. Like, is he a cornered child traumatized by the measures he felt forced to take to protect himself, or is he a freedom fighter who took an active stand against those dirty, unhinged lefties? Because you can't have it both ways. Make up your minds, Conservatives, jeez. At least be consistent in your biases.
