I feel the same exact way about everything involving Rittenhouse. It's not oFFeNsE or being TriGgeReD, it's just like...genuine, disheartening sadness. Not personal distain for him, but the attitudes and reactions to the actual beat-for-beat facts of what happened, and how he's being received in the end. It's the indescribable taste of bile thinking of how people more radicalized than him are absorbing this as a heroic triumph and not a tragic loss of life (and life-altering violent choices being framed innocuously). At this point it doesn't matter what this kid actually believes or pushes back on, how "normal" or empathetic he or his story comes to be framed...this is going to embolden a lot of dangerous people.

Maybe you see the idolization of the Kim family as a legitimate aspect of Korean culture in the Confucian tradition-which I don't; it's a manipulation of tradition to maintain the oppressive regime, much like the Nazis used Christianity. Your charge of orientalism doesn't ring true in part because much of the reporting and information available to the west on North Korea originates from _South_ Korea. Regardless, because of the cult of personality and general extreme loyalty to the NK state of its citizens, hearing someone talk about the documents of the country's founding as _sacred_ is *exactly* the sort of thing you could hear in North Korea. Of course, it's also (as we see) something you can hear in America-the point is, the comparison is unflattering.

I agree with the jury in that Rittenhouse killed in self defense, but why is he being paraded around like this? Why is anyone excited or happy that he killed people? The fact that it was self defense doesn't make it cool or righteous, it just makes it not illegal. If anything, they should be interviewing any jurors that don't want to remain anonymous or the judge, because the important or "good" thing about the case is for self defense. The case upheld the fact that open carrying a rifle is not brandishing a weapon, which is a pretty specific point of self defense and law. It almost seems like Rittenhouse is forced into becoming the next Milo or the next Shapiro though because who is going to hire him now? Only hardcore right wingers are going to give this guy work. The whole thing is just too fucking weird to me. Everyone just needs to ignore Rittenhouse and move on. And if you believe he still deserves some kind of punishment, you can rest easy knowing that he will be dealing with PTSD for probably a long time. What he did is not something you easily forget

Meanwhile, Russia is playing the long game. Global warming is going to gift them a new coastline while causing financial problems for opposing nations. As for us in the US, we're too busy trying to reign in our grossly manipulative conservative news outlets. Yes the other side manipulates but nowhere near this much. How Carlson wasn't fired for the idiotic words I heard in the video is beyond me. Everything from the tone of voice, everyone he spoke to speaking around his irrelevant awkwardly phrased questions, the sexism. How the heck did he even fit it all into a segment so short?
