The History of the Hutterites Part 2: The Hutterite Revitalization to The Present Day | DOCUMENTARY

Part 2 of this two part series picks up where Part 1 left off. We find our selves in 1755, where there appears little to no hope for the Hutterite community. Their population is in decline, their morals are weak, they lack the vitality of their ancestors, and they have abandoned their community of goods. But when Maria Theresa exiles a group of Austrian Protestants to a nearby town occupied by the Hutterites, as we will see, their is a great revitalization of their doctorine, identity, and tradition.
This video chronicles the Hutterites from their revitalization to the present day!
I hope you enjoy!

I've read a lot of Anabaptist history and it can get confusing with the frequent moves, the comings and goings, the schisms, etc. Both your videos were excellent. I know a roughly 2-hour video is a massive undertaking, but you did an excellent job bring coherence and congruence to this topic.

Incredibly informative video, and the production value is amazing. There are just so many points this video raises, but I think I can sum it into three: 1) Why did Christians(and Communists) in Europe invest so much energy in Europe and America trying to destroy their Christian brothers, rather than destroy the sin in their own lives? And as for the Communists, banishing Hutterite farmers became their own undoing. 2) If any single nation had've just accepted the Hutterites and allowed them to grow, they would have benefitted economically, culturally, and spiritually, from having a significant population of God-fearing and industrious Anabaptists in their country contributing to their agriculture and manufacturing. 3) It seems like Christian belief only truly survives under severe oppression.. We are living in the freest time in human history, yet we are leaving our churches in droves. Thanks so much for documenting the Hutterite chronicles like this. It's such an incredible story. I would never have imagined how close the Hutterites came to being extinguished completely. Thankfully they are as vigorous as they have ever been! An inspiring story to kick-start our faith in 2023. God bless you!

This is an excellent comment. Yes, if a country had simply given the Hutterites religious freedom, that country could have harnessed the Hutterite's brilliant industry and prosperity, allowing everyone to benefit. It is a shame it took so long for a country to give the Hutterite's religious freedom. Imagine their population size today if Moravia had just left them be, back in the 1620's? Thanks Cal, its always nice to see someone as enthusiastic about these topics as me! Great insights brother!

@@DainetheHistorian Well, it's their loss now...let's pray the Anabaptists have found their forever homes in the Americas! We'd probably have millions of Hutterites now if they'd been left alone- maybe enough for their own country, if history had gone differently. And thank you for indulging my interest! There's not much interest in Anabaptism in Europe but it really fascinates me moreso than most other Christian groups.

One question I have some people look at the harsh treatment of Ana baptists during the radical reformation and justify there harsh treatment because they were considered dangerous radicals , the Munster rebellion gave them a bad name , the courage , and comitment most Ana baptist have is truly amazing. They live their Christian belief.

I really enjoyed your videos on the Hutterite history. Surprisingly they bind together some of my own personal history and general historical interests. I am half Dutch, half Belgian, i lived in Bavaria for a year , in Zürich for about 6 years ( i used to love to swim in the river Limmat 😬😏), i married a Romanian and have since been fascinated by the Siebenbürger culture, the Romanian saxons, and Romanian history in general, and since my teens i have always been interested in the Amish. Currently i am in a Belgian Marxist party because among other things sharing of goods and cooperations speak to my heart. Of course as many citizens of this earth i have been learning quickly a lot about Ukranian history due to recent events. What a surprise that the history of the mennonites touched so many places and inclinations that touched my life as well and i was never really conscient of this. What a story of revival, relocating and rebuilding this people have. Amazing feniks-like force. One little side note : throughout the whole video you mispronounce 'Carinthian' as 'Carthinian' which annoyed the heck out of me , especially because it is written correct in the written excerpts you added to the video here and there. But that is just a detail, on the whole i love the way you presented this very thorough research on this remarkable people. I wasn't raised religious, and my ancestors were mainly catholics, but now, since two decades, i am affiliated with anthroposphy, which is christian inspired and holds true brotherlyness (?) in high regard. I work in an anthroposophic community and my son goes to a Waldorff (=anthroposofic) school. Some of the anthroposophical viewpoints, traditions and beliefs also seem to match with Hutterite belief and tradition. On top of everything i find it hard to really settle down in a place, which is seemingly another parallel with the hutterite history ;)

Hey, thanks Darion! I really appreciate your kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video. Yes I messed up on the pronunciation there haha good catch. That is so cool to have swam in the Limmat river! I have never been to Europe, but doing that is certainly on my bucket list! What a historic city Zürich is. The Hutterites are certainly an interesting and great people. What I admire about them in their voluntary communism, not forced. As a Marxist, do you see the need for the use of force to bring about your worldview, or a you do your thing and I'll do mine?

@@DainetheHistorian Hello Daine, you're welcome. As to the use of force to spread the marxist ideas and society : no, i'm not in favour of physical violence. I do however support strong mental and psychological persuasion efforts, because the marxist practice works best with very large groups of parttaking people. If it's interspersed or surrounded with capitalist systems everywhere , it just doesn't work so well. So forms of propaganda are in my eyes aloud to further the greater good. But not weapons or downright coercion .

You'd be better off joining the Bruderhof than being a Marxist. You may live your principles right away rather than lingering around and supporting a malevolent group that endeavours to use coercion and violence to impose its beliefs on others. If you are in Belgium, there are Bruderhof communities in Austria (Retz), Germany (Holzland and Sannerz) and England (Beech Grove, Darvell, and Peckham House). They arrange home stays for outsiders. They are active online with a website and youtube channels. I reckon Laura from the Bruderhof's channel is the most well-known.
