The Haloform Reaction

Once again, we will be interested in learning about reactions that break carbon-carbon bonds, as this will allow us to perform necessary transformations on substrates. The haloform reaction is one such reaction, and it is commonly used to transform methyl ketones into carboxylic acids. Let's see how this works!

I was confused by the Ar for a minute, thinking it was argon before I realised it was an aromatic 😅 Thanks for the great video, Prof. Dave!

Hi Dave, in my 3rd year of chemistry, was wondering if you have any inorganic chemistry videos concerning phosphorus or metal NMR spectra (like tungsten and copper) and some example complexes for these?

No one really mentions why hydroxide wouldn’t simply kick out the first iodine atom in an Sn2 fashion. Aren’t alphahaloketones extremely electrophilic at the C-X?

I feel like organic chemistry's vernacular is more esoteric than physics or even biology. Maybe I'm just not dedicated enough to keep up, and I secretly just want to do math because there are less terms to remember. 😅 Great vid. Thank you
