The Fantastic, Forgotten Kids JRPG | Guardian's Crusade

Ойындар

It's day 1 of year 1, where I can finally start taking a look at the many JRPGs in my backlog in hopes of helping people find something interesting. So let's start somewhere simple, a PS1 JRPG from 1999 about a young kid and his little dragon friend on a quest to save the world with the help of some fun trinkets. I'm sure this won't be any more complicated than that, certainly.
Guide I followed for my playthrough: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/ps/1975...

Now that I finally have the time to cover JRPGs, this video is serving as a sort of "soft reboot" to the channel. I already have the next game planned out, as seen by the final clip of this video, but are there any obscure/underappreciated JRPGs you might like to see me cover sometime?

I remember hiring this from Blockbuster in the early 00s and friggin' adored this. The world map is still one of my favourite in gaming ever, especially in the end when all the mysterious little shrines turn into gates. It's absolutely ahead of its time and the closest equivalent has to be Ni no Kuni. Even to this day, I still check in the GameFAQs board for this game as there's a core, small fanbase for this game. i should do that 100% run sometime.

I played this game at just the right point in my life. I was just the audience, played RPG demos and loved them never got them fully. I was 11 and was moving around a lot staying in different places nearly homeless still somehow found a way to play this even on black and white TV lol. It took months to beat it but left such a mark on me. I actually loved when the world finally became open from linear as I was already as a kid wandering and exploring everything, and discovering stuff that wasn't part of the story like pengui or the Serpent boss felt so so enriching. I love how you agreed the soundtrack is good it's probably the reason I love electronic Funk music now lol I really wish you would've explored the pet mechanic more, as Baby becomes such a formidable companion, and unlike pokemon and LTs, he is the SOLE companion, you can even ask him to transform which adds onto the pos-game and learning all those aswell All in all thank you for covering this game and shining light to such a gem not a lot of ppl remember.

I found this game nice, entertaining and lighthearted despite some darker parts. And it has a real proper happy end.

About Baby attacking you, it's because your friendship with him was really low. Feed him equipment you don't need and bubblegum and he'll be happy with you. Don't let him faint if you can help it, and talk to him in battle. It's a bit tedious, yes, but it's a little bit like taking care of a virtual pet, which it sounded like you ignored for this playthrough, so that's why Baby attacked you frequently.

I had no idea you could feed him old equipment. I’ll keep that in mind for future playthroughs. Thanks. Hope you liked the video regardless of my stupidity.

@@HoodlieRPG I did enjoy it. I just thought I should let you know why Baby was attacking you so much. You can also watch EmceeProphIt's review on the game, it was because of him I knew how to raise and maintain my relationship with Baby in the first place.

@@DarkFoxKit I did indeed see it… after I played through the game myself. Like I said, this game doesn’t give you all the information you need, in my opinion at least. Still, thank ya kindly for watching and leaving a comment. I really appreciate it.

Hoodlie, this is quite one impressive video. The quality and insight of such a remarkable gem that no one talks about is much appreciated. I think this one might be your best video yet. I can quite tell that more Knights Crusade needs to circulate the internet. Great video Hoodlie

I think since this is an Jrpg the inclusion of evil cults in a game is common in japanese children's video games.
