Happy Halloween~ It's time to finally have some spooky fun with a horror game, and what better way to do so than with the Shadow Hearts series. Before we get to that series though, we need to talk about its spiritual predecessor, the lesser known Koudelka. A very strange title from 1999, 2000 outside of Japan, it was a passion project by talented Square composer, Hiroki Kikuta. Taking elements of survival horror and blending them with JRPG conventions, this game received mixed reviews and seems to have been forgotten and overshadowed by the following trilogy. Not to mention Square's Parasite Eve series on the same console. As a result, it's one of the rarest games to get on the PS1 thanks to its rarity. Is it worth the price it goes for on ebay? No, absolutely not. But is it worth playing? Well, watch and find out.

I've only ever met one other person who had played this game back in the day!! Great video 😀💖 I went years not knowing it was a prequel of sorts to Shadow Hearts! (Also, I swear there's a "Ps1 Disc 3" curse...)

I should’ve shown the weirdest cutscene glitch I got, where instead of skipping, everyone jump cut every few lines until it just froze and moved on. Super weird. Thanks for watching.
This video made me say I cannot wait for Penny Blood. Glad I backed the Double Kickstarter.
I loved playing this game back in the day. Great video, really got me in the mood for another run of the game!

Legit just finished the game not too long before watching this. Good vid. I had played Shadow Hearts many many years ago (never finished it), but I never got around to Koudelka until now. I'd like to peep the manga soon. I like using a guide when playing games because I want to be as thorough as possible, but I would've never figured out some of these otherwise. It's a bit clunky and slow, but I'm still very glad I played it. Also, I wasn't expecting Soramizu to be acknowledged lol. That was epic.

I actually played Shadow Hearts 1 last summer on my channel, I even bought the sequel in the hopes to play it in the future. Hopefully you’ll do that in the future. (Also I backed Penny Blood)
That story of getting the game for 10 Dollar reminds me of that one time I went to the Thrift store and bought a first Isssue Garfield Book for 3 Euros to later see it's worth at least 200 😂
This one I’ve been meaning to play for years, but I’m not about to spend that kind of money If only we could get more horror RPGs
