one of the worst things about mike is how they handled his disorder. he could be that one character with a few alters who can do different things, even if they bend the rules a bit for some more interesting things. one thing i have learned from the systems i’ve met though, is that an alter doesn’t have the desire to hurt the body or any of the other alters. alters are formed from different reactions to trauma (oh! that could’ve been a good thing to use! during the challenge, an antisocial alter forms so as to save the body from more trauma!), so why have an alter intentionally try to hurt the body/host? it doesn’t make sense, and it vilifies people with DID or OSDD because of that one “bad alter” i just wish they did more research, a character with DID/OSDD would’ve been interesting if done right. as i said before, an alter forming from the challenges makes more sense when you know a bit, and they could’ve served a similar purpose to mal while keeping a better representation of DID/OSDD. it really is sad

Going off the alter forming from the trauma of the challenges, maybe Mal could’ve been that alter but instead of being cartoonishly villainous he was just trying to avoid any more trauma (like a protection thing, many alters will try to protect themselves and their system from further trauma) by sabotaging the competitions, so they’d get eliminated and be able to leave. It would be very cool to watch Mike find a way to handle that while still wanting to win, but also wanting to keep his alters and self safe… I’ve got no specific ideas on how he could address that situation but it would’ve been way cooler and more interesting and less stereotypically harmful than evil bad alter

In my opinion Heather made TDI the most iconic memorable & great season with amazing moments on screen due to how entertaining she was even though you might hate or love her from drama tension strategy and interactions with other campers are pure iconic. Most well written & developed character of the first generation cast.

Heather not being in most of all stars felt… odd. I feel like Heather had made it really far in every season before, and I didn’t like how quickly she was eliminated in all stars.

I love Courtney she was somewhat realistic with her heartbreak. Probably her first boyfriend Duncan changed her into what she really was she wanted her future with Duncan. And then she was cheated on and didn’t know until awhile afterwards but not from Duncan or Gwen she was told by Tyler in front of everyone on live television. And in all stars she seemed like she was over Duncan she even made friends with Gwen until when Gwen and Courtney had to fight and she was forced to watch Gwen and Duncan kiss while her and him were still together in world tour which brought out a lot of anger. Afterwards she realized how much time she wasted on Duncan but is still hurt. Scott just happened to be the rebound guy. She was different with Scott she didn’t try to change him and became extra clingy. Of course their relationship wasn’t healthy because Courtney didn’t like Scott just the idea of him. She then betrays Scott and Gwen for some reason my idea on it was she wanted to win to show Duncan she better without him. Her relationships weren’t healthy because she wasn’t in a healthy state of mind. She was upset for so many seasons because I think she loved Duncan and wanted marry him one day and hoped he’d changed by then. Of course she realized how much of a terrible boyfriend he was but she still loved him and went on terrible path because of it. I could tell in world tour she felt useless and hoped Duncan still loved her. She had so many meltdowns from Duncan she couldn’t realize she was in a toxic relationship until after they broke up.

Writers on long running shows either leave or are fired after 2 - 3 seasons, either because the pay wasn't enough or they just didn't want to work on the series anymore (or because the studio wants to get newer writers in exchange for cheaper pay). I'm guessing after World Tour a majority of the original writing team left and new ones were hired each season onward since that would be cheaper. This is something that happens with a lot of cartoons, if you ever notice a series suddenly changing in tone after during or after season 3 it may be due to writing staff changing

Ridonculous Race was incredible. Just as good as Island and World Tour imo, but for different reasons. They returned to realistic characters and less life-threatening challenges; but most of all, the scriptwriting writing was incredible. It was the only total drama season to ever make me laugh out loud.

The only thing I have to say is that I personally like how chris got more sadistic, it just makes sense to me that he gets more and more psycho throughout the seasons. This is a weird comparison but it’s sort of like how Walter White slowly became more and more evil throughout the seasons.

In case any of you don’t know, the reason why Trent went off the rails in season 2 was because the higher-ups at cartoon wanted them to break up. They were also behind the reason Duncan and Gwen getting together as well.

I read somewhere that they were thinking of doing a live-action reboot of Total Drama Island and honestly I'd watch that just for how meta it would be. A live action reboot of an animated parody or a reality TV show

A while ago a friend of mine asked what my top 3 favorite cartoon series were, and when I said my 2nd favorite was TDI, they said it was a “baby show”. That’s when I realized that some people only recognize Total Drama for Total Dramarama.

Nikki from 6Teen was also mentioned briefly in TDRama, on the rainbow juice episode. They were flashing back to a day where the softie version chef had a huge tantrum when he didn't get his rainbow juice, and in that flashback, a 4 year old who wasn't shown earlier in the show appeared with short girl hair with different shades of purple, and after the flashback, owen said: "We never saw Nikki again.... I guess she moved away."

I fell in love with this show day one, and I think the reason I’ve stuck by for the entire ride is because of my attachment to these characters. World Tour was my absolutely favorite season, and it ducks that it was the last good one but it was a nice proper send off for our characters. Dramarama has its funny moments but it’s not the same essence. I’m excited for these new episodes that they’re working on. I’m hoping they take the Ridonculous Race style of competition and not the Pahkitew style.

Something not mentioned: in the Redonculous Race, Chris has a tiny cameo where in (what I think was) the finale, when driving past, you can see Chris reading a newspaper.

I would agree.Total drama reunion may have been a parody, but in a way it could have been the final season story arc of the contestants of what could have happen if they grow up and how Chris gets his comeuppance. But of course Freshtv (or as I like to now called them "Not so Freshtv") took it off from KZread. Which really sucks.

The weird thing about multi personality disorders is that that veto would be actually stronger than his original personality because it is documented throughout cases that your brain change personalities they actually have physical features that also changed to go with that

I think in season 3 Noah should have got more attention Noah only got 2 confessionals when he made it to the Jack the Ripper episode and Harold got more confessionals when he got voted off in one of the first episodes. My favorite character during world tour was Cody he made it very far into the game I was rooting for him the whole season.

Action is my favorite season because of the reward challenges. Don’t get me wrong I love when someone goes home almost every episode like in Island, but a lot of my favorites made it into Action. So those reward challenges put my mind at ease about not having to worry over anyone I liked getting eliminated. And I loved the character dynamics in Action, so the reward challenges just gave me more chances to enjoy and appreciate the dynamics and interactions between everyone.

Total DramaRama is actually quite a smart decision from a marketer’s perspective. The children it is targeted to watch the show, and once they get older will do some searching for the show again to ‘remember their childhood’, only to then discover the main TD series. This puts them onto TD (at least for the first three seasons), with two new seasons commissioned by the BBC (UK) coming out soon. DramaRama also encourages current adult/teen viewers to find the main series again. Pretty good marketing stunt TDR is.

this actually happened to me. before i even watched the main TD series I watched total dramarama for a bit and got invested and then forgot about it when it first came out. The later on i found TD on Netflix and gave it a shot. and now im obsessed with TD.

Ok, so awkward revelation time: When Total Drama first came I was 4. I started watching the show when it first aired in Canada. I watched all the seasons even though I didn't enjoy it as much after TDWT (I thought it was because I was getting older, but I guess I was wrong becaus I just rewatched the 3 first seasons recently). When I was little, my favorite character was Gwen (she still is tbh). So I once tried to write a letter to Teletoon asking them to race with Gwen on TDRR (I think I did not understand it was a cartoon and that if it aired, the show was already completed). XD

as a 10 year old i loved the SHIT out of the musical elements in WT. i do admit that ROTI felt almost forgettable to me, i stopped tuning in regularly once that season started. and god...i don't even wanna mention the travesty that is all-stars

Honestly, Fresh lost my respect when they killed Total Drama Reunion. They technically have the legal right, but killing a non-profit fan series made with nothing but love for the original TD (which posed no threat whatsoever to Dramarama) is scummy as fuck and I don't know how anyone can seriously defend them after that.

Ridonculous Race was probably my favorite season just because I liked the ice dancers I just liked their interactions with other characters The other teams were good too And I liked the goths too, they were cool

I was cheering when the ice dancers were eliminated also fact in the first episode I think Harold or Beth said that he or her saw him in an ice skating show where one of the dancers dropped their partner in their head and hey it immunity in at a point in ridoncilous race the lady I've dancer (i forgor their names) said that that " it was as embarrassing than he time you dropped me on my head so yeah

Never got to All Stars and after but apparently I didn't miss much.

I have a love/hate relationship with Chris' character progression. His entire character was focused on getting good ratings irrespective of danger. Personally, I liked having him get bored with challenges and add in another layer, but just having him do something irrelevant for five minutes was a waste of time and just felt like the directors were selling out.

I agree because he never really cared about safety anyways. I can see him progressively getting worse over the years, but tbh I just think the worse things was to make Chris pour toxic waste on the island. That made the whole series decline. If the island had just been normal it would've been better.

What is more upsetting is, their is a lot of missed potential . Noah had a lot of potential in character but he never got the screen time or recognition

Fun fact: Justin actually DIDN'T speak at all until the final episode of Season one. One of the very few great things that Total Drama Action did was make them a decent character.

Total DramaRama is a good show for what it purports to be, a children's show. As a TD fan, I was also upset with the show's change in focus and theme, but watching Total DramaRama with my cousins ​​while we had lunch made me see that it can be a very refreshing and funny show, even if very silly at times. It turns out that the same stereotyped characters that worked so well in the original series also fit well into this format (which is to be expected, but on this show it's done quite competently by the writers anyway). In fact, it reminds me a lot of the vibe of the same age-group cartoons I watched in my time. So it turns out that it doesn't bother me that much, after all, it's not even part of the canon of the universe, it's an alternate universe and that's it. There will be a few seasons, hoppely will bring in a new generation to check out the originals when they grow up and then there will be seasons of TD as we know it (as they've already announced there will be). Until then, may the kids enjoy this variation molded for them, which I dare say is one of the best cartoons out there today.

I love scott genuinely one of my favorite characters but i do agree that he did need to be balanced and during all stars they made his character a push over

I hate that I'm gonna say this, I actually miss the spawn of Evil that is Chris.

I think I know why Jude from 6teen was added to Total DramaRama. Basically, the voice actor who voiced Chris from TDI also voiced Jude from 6teen. I think that when they created the concept for Total DramaRama, they realized Chris couldn't ever be involved but didn't wanna fire the voice actor, so they just threw in Jude from 6teen into the show.

same. I remember finding that out by accident. I originally didn't know that the entire season had already airedin Canada, so when I was on a fan wiki, I was confused why there some (what I thought were just predictions and/or leaks) eliminations after the most current episode in the US. When I found out that the next couple were dead on accurate after I watched the next episodes, I purposely refused not to look at that website again, so I wouldn't have anything spoiled. Btw, I did not realize how stupid of a kid I was back then. When I first watched the show I didn't realize they were in Canada until the Superhero episode in TDA when Harold named his superhero Captain Alberta. After binge watching almost the entire series (up through all-stars) I don't know how I missed all of the references to Canada in the original TDI. There's too many to miss. Then again I wasn't even 8 years old yet when it premiered on CN.

Mike’s DID was actually treated really well. His alters were pretty realistic with the fact he couldn’t control them and even got imposter syndrome sometimes because of them. All stars however that ruined him. First they gave him an evil alter, which is a very harmful stereotype people with DID have to deal with all the time. Obviously we’ve also got the button which is literally the most unrealistic thing ever. Yeah some alters do end up going away but again you don’t have control over that. Mike used to have like the best DID representation I’d ever seen in revenge of the island and then they just threw it out the window so quickly and so horribly

I was obsessed with Total Drama Island as a kid, but stopped with Action. Recently I got surgery and had to stay over night at a hospital with nothing to do. I went to sleep and woke up in the middle of the night. I tried watching some TV and Total Dramarama was on. I was convinced I dreamt it up. A toddler version of my favourite TV show from a child, plus I was literally drugged earlier? Much more sensical than this show actually existing. Luckily, after two episodes, Gumball came on instead, which was much more interesting and then I thankfully fell back asleep.

One thing I did like about season 4 was how Chris was put in jail for all the crimes he did.

Fun fact: Leshawna was supposed to win tdi, but on the day of recording vocals of the finale, leshawna’s voice actor had family problems she had to attend to, so she was unfairly voted off and the win was given to Owen.

lets just say dramarama is an alternate universe and stow it away forever.

I know this may be controversial, but my favorite season of Total Drama was All Stars; I just loved how it was a season completely devoted to almost all of my favorite characters over the seasons.
