I agree. Almost all of them were referencing something or were a gimic. The only characters I liked were Jasmine, Sky and Shawn, but as comedic relief characters I liked Sugar and Max too.

I always saw Gwen's friendship with Cameron as more Gwen treating Cameron like her little brother (the fact that she actually has a little brother not relevant here). Therefore, the kiss was more familial. She was like, "Well, everyone else is making out, might as well do it." The kiss didn't seem romantic at all. It was just on the cheek, so it seemed more like a close friendship gesture.

Considering she saw Cody as a little brother and Cameron was basically the Cody of gen 2, that makes a lot sense

Noah had one of the best redemption arcs in the series. After being rightfully eliminated in Season 1 he came back to have a blossoming friendship with Owen and a cute and wholesome relationship with Emma, which is what Dave and Sky should've been.

This is late but Jacques mentions in Ridonculous Race that he has worked with Josee for 14 YEARS! Could you imagine the absolute hell this guy was put through? Josee held a grudge against him for at most 14 years, that’s just crazy to think about.

Honestly Anne Maria was such a solid character. I wasn't a huge fan of her on my first watch of Revenge of the Island, but she really grew on me! She was really funny and I genuinely enjoyed her interactions. One of my favorite gen 2 characters for sure.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, but she felt like a one-off character to me.

I think the Ridonculous Race was a great return to form. The race gimmick had more settings, and once you disqualify the created to be eliminated first contestants, you get to enjoy the interactions, parallels, and resolutions.

So its kinda like Shrek Forever After or Cars 3. Their last sequels (Shrek the Third and Cars 2) were both garbage, so they tried making another one in order to redeem the series. Just like how the Race tried redeeming the series after All Stars and Pahkitew Island. Shrek 4 is better than RR, but RR is better than Cars 3.

While I already knew all the characters, this was an excellent refresher I could see people coming back to through the years when they feel nostalgic/want to get into the series. I don't like that people who won their season were allowed to come back for All-Stars, since if it was a regular show, they could potentially win twice. That isn't fair to the other contestants or the contestants that could've taken their slots instead, but I understand it was basically just meant to be a 'Fan-Favorite' season anyway.

It makes sense. Total Drama is based on Survivor, and there were winners in Survivor All Stars. Also, as you said, it’s fan favorites. Why Owen wasn’t in that season is still a mystery.

@@baileylynn5562 You could say that all stars and rr were done at more or less the same time, so that would be why the 3 characters from the og cast weren't in all stars or in a aftermath thing. I don't think bridgette would want to host the show alone.

It's best for Owen NOT getting on All Stars otherwise like the rest of the cast of that season will have their development take a major nose dive into a volcano.

The guy made terrible videos anyways, so nothing of value was really lost by him leaving. He was still much better than Noahh tho.

Gwen was my absolute favorite character throughout the show, I thought she was the most developed and had the best dynamics with most of the characters. Dawn was my favorite in Season 4 and I feel that they really under-utilized her. The Goths were the best in Ridoncuclous Race and it was just fun to see them non-chalantly breeze through everything. For least favorite, Ezekiel in Season 1, Trent in Season 2 (I'm still annoyed everyone blamed Gwen for his actions when she practically begged him to stop multiple times), Chris from Season 3 on as I feel he went from an interesting fun antagonist who remembered it was just a game show to a complete psychopath who relished in inflicting pain

I feel like one of the biggest strengths from gen 1 characters was that they were based upon stereotypes of the average survivor contestants but grew up to be more complex and tri-dimensional the more episodes went by. The fact that they were grounded in reality was the thing that made them so loveable. This is why later seasons ended up being much shittier, because they think the more ridiculous the character, and the more dangerous the stake, would equal a better season. But it's more annoying than anything, it feels like the writers are mocking our intelligence.

Very true. The second generation felt somewhat realistic, even if they weren't as memorable as the first gen, which is something I can't say for the third gen at all. Thankfully the fouth gen does revert back to its roots.

You’re right, the first gen characters feel like people you’d see on survival. Not random archetypes that don’t fit the island at all.

Going back and forth between "eliminated 10th" and "10th place" made it a little confusing how well people actually did. It would be nice to have a graphic that shows "10th place out of X players"

Owen was originally going to be in All Star along with 3-5 other characters like Brick and I think Beth.

As long as I know Owen and Cody were supposed to be in but the writers decided not too since Cody's and Sierra's story had already developed much and Owen idk why. Brick and Anne-Maria were also supposed to be in but Brick swiched with Sam and Anne-Maria with Gwen. Idk why they thought to bring Anne-Maria but not Gwen but either way I think both Brick and Anne-Maria should had been in. Cody and Owen too but Owen competed in The RR so that's good!

I feel like all stars is one of the worst seasons next to pahketeiw (idk how to spell it) and Rama. Lindsey got booted first, for some reason sam was back for no good reason at all, and the final 4 there was only 1 og and the rest were from revenge. Like fr, they should have had one og and one revenge in the top 2, though I get it was for Mal’s character, still I don’t like most characters on that show except for Lindsey, dunkin, Cameron, Courtney, Alejandro, and Gwen. The rest were just annoying imo. I feel like Gwen, Courtney, Mal and Zoe should have been the final 4 tbh. Like for real idk why dj, Leshawna, owen, or brick weren’t on it :/

@@katatonic3450 We don’t have a official name however we do know 2 seasons have been announced on HBO MAX,with several new characters in different people of race (Hispanic,Mexican,African-American) and sexuality (Some will be LGBTQ) and I believe one of the seasons will have old characters back,with a few silhouettes being shown in some of the new promotional pictures. I’m really excited for it and ready to see if it’s better than Pakithew.

Fun fact: MacArthur is also seen in several episodes of Total Dramarama having several different jobs, seemingly being the Larry Needlemeyer of the show. At least from what I've seen.

Nice summary, but I would say you missed one character: Loki. He was a rabbit who joined Crimson and Ennui's team during _The Ridonculous Race_ and seemed perfectly at home with their goth attitudes and aesthetic (after a bit of eyeliner). Not a huge deal, but still worth the mention, I think.

18:17 Honestly, I have soft spot for Mickey and Jay since in real life I also have a twin and have a lot of health issues which in a lot of shows I personally seen that has a character who had a lot of health issues makes it like a joke which I didn’t like and seeing this season where both twins had health issues and not treating it like a massive joke makes me appreciate them a lot! (Yeah sure there were a couple times that it was like a joke for example that one joke where they were lactose intolerant but at least those jokes were actually funny for the context)

Aside from Mr coconut, I'd say yuh e best character in TDI is DJ. I'm really sad he got nerfed in later seasons. Currently watching TDA and my favorite is Harold

Yeah. And on a sorta random note, one female character i`m surprised did not get more attention in general due to her size is Ginormica from Monsters vs Aliens.

My favorite TD contestants: 3rd-Duncan: You know the guy who was in every episode of the first 2 seasons. 2nd- Scott: The devious, Lovable mastermind, hated by fang, and then turned punching bag in all stars. 1st- Noah: The snarky sarcastic kid, King of one liners, and part of a dynamic duo.

Sierra had the chance in world tour as like a fan girl Heather. She knows everything about the show and knows everything about everyone except Al. She would have been a super teammate wanting to help her team but would also know how to manipulate other contestants but it would still be her fan girl ness that would get her booted

Queen Jo deserved being a finalist on ROTI and a better position on All Stars. I love her character and I love how she is, ruthless and athletic. Her interactions with Brick were amazing (Jock❤) and the fact we only got to see her rivalry with Heather for 3 episodes on All Stars kiiiiills me.

Also, I liked his friendship dynamic with Dawn in RoTI Dawn, because her wicked psychic skills and strong moral compass made her an interesting competitor. Also, I liked her friendship dynamic with B in RoTI The Step-Bros, because they are basically the only good "friend duo" the show has ever done, and I find their interactions with both each-other and other contestants to be fantastic. The Goths, because I'm fairly sure everyone wants to see them return as well, so I don't need to explain why I like them. Brick, because HE SHOULD HAVE BEEN IN ALL-STARS INSTEAD OF SAM THE WHOTHEHELLGIVESASHIT. Eva, only because she's only competed in three episodes and has some room for character development.

I agree with you. Definitely bring back Brick and B. Those 2 need redevelopment because B has only been in 4 episodes and Brick, 8 episodes (If you count finale) and those 2 never competed since

@@arielvasquez6150 I think Brick already has a solid character built out for him. he had JUST enough time to do it. B and Dawn, unfortunately, did not get that privilege. In a perfect world, I would have all three of them return. But if only one or two of them could, I would choose B first and Dawn second.

I agree with all of these. I'd also love to see Jo on a show with Eva, and have their potential dynamic explored. Beardo is essentially still a blank slate and I would like to see him return and actually get development. Jasmine and/or Shawn returning would also be great. Most of the Pahkitew cast was underwhelming in terms of character writing. Scarlett could have been a decent villain if the writers didnt drop the ball and make her "mwahahaha I'm evil." Sky was okay and I think Sugar would be intersting to see briefly return. I'd also like to see more of Anna Maria, Sanders & McArthur, the Rockers, and the Fashion Bloggers.

I like Trent, but Tyler is cool though. In my top ten.

I absolutely adore Mike, he's the sweetest angel and holy shit did they do him dirty in All Stars. My other absolute favorites are Leshawna, Zoey, Dawn, Jasmine, Beth, Lindsay, Ella, and Izzy. As for least favorites, well, I can't choose just one (like with my favorites). But I CANNOT STAND Heather, Jo, Scott, Amy, post-Island Courtney, and Blaineley.

@@edelockwood178 It’s also not an accurate description of the disorder. The biggest indicator of the disorder is Dissociative tendencies with a history of trauma.

DJ in the first episode talks about a figure skating show. Beth then talks about somebody dropping their partner on their head. (Harold says: I hope I get dropped on my head…) But that is most certainly a reference to the “Race Around The World.”

It would be nice to see Brick and Dawn again, but I don’t think you can have a character that doesn’t utter a single word on a comedic show like TD.

Y'know, I've been thinking about this or a while, but seeing an inverse of All Stars would be great. Having a season dedicated to characters that never got far in the competitions. Total Drama Redemption or something like that.

Dawn was literally the cartoon equivalent of Luna Lovegood and you cannot change my mind about that

RR fixed so many problems that the classic TD format was facing. I would do so much for another season of that spinoff specifically

the fact that B was eliminated so early on is such a travesty yet understandable at the same T_T also just one correction mal did make his official debut in revange of the island for like 1 frame

I think the all stars cast were decided by people who made it far in some seasons and they got an invitation… and only some wanted to go

In hindsight, Owen really dodged a bullet not being in All Stars. Pretty sure they would've wrecked his character like they did with other characters in that season.

Unrelated, but how did I just now realize that all the helpers in the TDAS finale was a finalist? Heather and Alejandro in TDWT, Gwen in Island, and Cameron in ROTI. Almost completely unrelated to this video, so keep scrolling pls.

We just needed Lightning and Duncan and then we would have all the finalists that appeared in that season.

Theory: in the first episode of season 5b/6 rodney says he lives on a farm with his 4 little brothers and dad. With the fact that he kinda looks like Scott and Scott also living on a farm its possible that Scott is one of Rodney's little brothers

The 1st season money was lost so they had to compete in the 2md season for it. After Beth won, she and Lindsey got thrown in jail in france after defacing the mona lisa, so that's where her money went. World tour the money was destroyed in a volcano so it was lost Lmao

@@damonlam9145 he's correct. There are alternate endings but the series follows a canon route. So you saw gwen win but the special leading up to season 2 the choice is up to owen to go for a hundred thousand or a million dollars

Personally I can't choose my favourite of all, because there are many great characters ! Maybe, if I must choose, I can say Izzy, Zoey & Mike, Shawn & Jasmine and the Goths Meanwhile I really liked how Dakota developed during the season
