I can't believe I have to say this, but this video is two years old and The Sandman has been out for multiple decades. It's unreasonable to get upset that this video has "spoilers" because you only just now started to care because there's a Netflix show.

I hope the show has 10 seasons. Literally the best thing DC has come out with in a while for me. They might start to topple Marvel’s Regime if they keep pumping out good content like this. After the new Thor movie idk if I’ll get back into Marvel. They’ve been on a downhill slope for a minute now.

I actually like that DC needs Gaiman's permission to use these characters. I feel like they would be overused and over explained otherwise. These are very abstract characters and the more use = more explanation = probably less interesting. I may be wrong, maybe it would turn out great if they were used frequently, but I am not getting my hope's up that most writers will match Gaiman's talent.

@@esteinerabreu8646 admittedly, static shock is a good counterpoint to my position here. Creators love static and fans love to see him, but the massive legal issues kinda make it hard for static to ever really be present. From what I understand, DC is free to use static how and whenever they want, they just need to pay royalties (or a licensing fee, something like that) but it still hinders the ability to use good characters. I made my original position and I don't disagree with it, yours, or my position here, but I don't want to pretend this is as one sided as my original comment made it out to be.

He is a Creator, and many have been before, and many will be after him, all formed by the human unconscious. Even then however, Yahweh and his two elder sons remain unable of stopping the Endless when they are doing their cosmic roles. Lucifer tried to, but failed completely at trying to bar Death from his Creation, as her job is above even the power of a Creator. Lucifer could threaten and even kill Dream's incarnation because he was not doing his job when he visited Hell, but rather was there due to personal business, and due to Lucifer and his co-rulers holding ultimate authority over Hell (Yahweh excepted), where they were. An interesting detail, from Gaiman himself, is that each Endless simultaneously represents their opposite. They're each a yin and yang. This is easiest to see in Destiny: he represents fate, cause and effect, and the inescapable linearity of time. However, he also represents choice. While everyone has a destiny, they are also free to choose their path. Dream represents both pure creativity and unbound feelings, but also logic, reason, and order. You can't have one side without the other to contrast it against. This is why Dream is very strict in following rules, can be cold and extremely rational, and constructs elaborate plans to manipulate events. Death also represents life. She came to be happy and love life when she herself realized this while living as a mortal. Without birth there can be no death. Destruction is also creation. This is why his realm, The Crucible, has an explosion at the center of it - matter in the process of being broken apart and flying off to become part of something new. Delirium is simultaneously insight. Of all the Endless, she is the most intuitive and sees the patterns in reality others are blind to. Desire, very ironically considering their arrogant and greedy nature, must also stand for the absence of self. Desire has always been the most self-blind, and in denial about the nature of the Endless themselves. Desire is too busy wanting things to see that desires always pass, and the self is an illusion. (This is, thematically, why Desire is never satisfied.) Despair is, very simply, also hope. Without hope there can be nothing to suffer from and despair over. Despair will always focus a person on finding a way out of despair and move them towards hope.

At one point Lucifer was close to "death" but when Death (the endless herself) showed up, he just stated, that he was beyond her, and she simply agreed. Lucas Crispim it’s very good trust me! Though a little warning it can be a bit confusing (don’t worry that’s by design and all will eventually make sense), and it gets a bit graphic and deals with some mature stuff at times such as abortion, rape and the like, but you like when media touches in those subjects well (which it does) then it makes it all the better!

Honestly delight becoming delirium makes a lot of sense to me and I would bet it happened almost immediately or she was never really delight in the first place but rather was always an embodiment of both. If you're the living manifestation of joy and happiness, even wonder could fall under the category of delight, and you experience and understand them at all moments through your entire existence then you have no choice but to become delirious. Particularly as they are supposed to be the concepts as understood and perceived by humans and mortals.

Delrium defines Consiouness/Perception. To exist to just be~ is to be Delight, the simple ability to appreciates ones surroundings like a cat enjoying the sun. however Consciouness pushed to its limits is to perceieve things that are not there, from inspiration to madness. Its best to think of Delirium as perception, hence why she can know things that Destiny does not she's on a higher plane of awareness to even the other endless, she is sight and sensation, she is imagination seeing allowing for people to see into dreams realm.

Yeah, that rule with his permision I believe was created as a direct concequence of a writer of captain atom using her and others agents of death in the DC universe as simply aspects of death, with her and her happy go lucky approach representing the kind side it has, which was very disrespecting of the original idea behind the character and also is a demostration of one of the most annoying trends that writers tend to follow (now more freely than ever) nowadays which is retconning everything until it fits in their story. Seeing someone doing something like that constantly with these character would be very sad, since it would basically reduce a couple of good and complex character to a convoluted mess that caused the first reboot of DC in the first place.

I think that Delirium represents the chaos of the universe, its randomness and flux. One of the thoughts is that (as Delight), she fully walked through Destiny's maze, since she found it so enjoyable. However, she was somehow changed by the experience into Delirium. Maybe she now lives in all times of the universe at once, seemingly supported by how some of her dialogue is in response to statements made in other parts of the story. Maybe she just saw the banality of order and found "delight" in the chaos. Regardless, by helping to define the chaos of the universe, she also helps define the order that it's able to run with. Suns can form, planets can orbit, math makes sense, etc. It's even shown in a scene in the comic, when she does gather herself up enough to become lucid and provide meaningful advice to her sibling, that Dream starts to break down and become more delirious. As if the chaos needs to go somewhere, if not contained within her. Not having their backstories completely fleshed out was a great decision by Neil Gaiman. It allows our personal canon to fill in the gaps in whatever way we feel flows best in that moment. So the stories of the Endless can be just that: endless. Living in on a million minds across a million moments for as long as the stories are read.
