I usually work blue collar jobs, but not because I enjoy them. I'd like to punch my 20 year old self for dropping out of college, the idiot.

I play a dwarf rogue in a 5e campaign right now. I don't care if it's sub-optimal, it's just fun to play. If I get the opportunity in this game, I'll remake him in a heartbeat.

its not suboptimal, it's a known powerbuild for rogue. at lvl 1: 16/14/16 mi/ag/con makes for a very tanky rogue with medium armor.

If there’s anything I’ve learned about bg3. It’s that you he meta build viability doesn’t matter. Play what you want and have fun.

"The badassness isn't shortened It's distilled." Hahahaha love it. I'm glad you also mentioned the Duergar. My sorcerer ran into one at the beginning of his campaign in the Underdark. She was an exile who joined forces with him and helped him survive long enough to develop his abilities and meet the other future party members. Sadly she died very early on though. So much potential lost. But her sacrifice allowed so much shit to be set in motion for the larger narrative.

I must confess I have a really hard time imagining a dwarf as a main protagonist in any fantasy media. I'm just too used to them being the gruff/snarky companion type of character. Never played a dwarf, probably won't in this either. (How can you resist githyanki?) Props to all you fellas giving the little dudes a moment in the limelight in your playthroughs though.

I love dwarves in RPGs. I played as one in pathfinder kingmaker. Who else but a stubborn dwarf could march into the stolen lands and bend it to his will? That tends to be my take when I play them. Where as when I am more diplomatic when I play humans, when the dwarf comes out...lines in the stone get drawn.

@@WolfheartFPS No I agree they're cool, it's just that I've never seen a fantasy story where the dwarf was the main character, the star of the show. They're always supporting characters, it seems. Maybe there are some novels or games like that, I've just not run into them.

Kartik Shrivastav Yea you are definitely right. I think from a money perspective it’s more viable to write books / make movies and games about “prettier” more relatable types of races. So the dwarves often get put on the bench :(

What are the chances of the Duergar being a playable subrace in BG 3? The fact that they include Drow gives me hope

Dwarfs are my favorite race in RPGs, going with a heavy armor dwarf paladin or cleric in BG 3 for sure.

I always go the same thing in every d&d game I've played: half-elf ranger, spear and bow. Thinking about going something very different this time. Might go with a dwarf cleric. Which Deity should I choose?

@@HumanKatamari For Life Domain there is Moradin the Soulforger , Berronar the Revered Mother and Sharindlar Lady of Life and Mercy. Light Domain I didn't find a dwarf deity but their is Helm god of protection, Lathander god of birth and renewal, Milil god of poetry and song and Sune goddess of love and beauty. Finally for Trickery Domain there is Vergadain, called the Merchant King, is the god of thieves (who commands his followers never to steal from other dwarves)

My favorite dwarf was a azerblood but they make great druids too.

I love how whenever anyone attempts to portray Dwarfs in a badass manner in any universe; DND, Tolkien, you name it, they use photos of Warhammer Dwarves.

Good video - just tiny thing I noticed, the red headed dwarf at about 3:20 is the famous Gotrek Gurnisson, who although a dwarf, is from Warhammer, rather than D&D. Keep up the good work though...

Cool video! I've already decided I'm going for dwarf cleric for my first BG3 protagonist. Probably War domain, although I'd take Forge if they added it. But the important part is that she has heavy armour, a big hammer and the power of Moradin on her side.

Playing a dwarven life domain cleric now. Pretty annoyed I have no proficiency in Great Axes & Large Hammers. I can use a 2 handed battle axe in 1 hand with a shield in the other, but I have absolutely no proficiency with anything above. I'm not super familiar with DND rules, but I assumed I was generally targeting those weapons by playing as the dwarf in the first place. Simple weapon proficiency alone feels janky with the build.

Wolf Why don't you make a video about Character Creation where you create a character that your may be able to use in early access or final game, you could do it in the classic D&D Character Sheet or in D&D Beyond, an official digital toolset for D&D 5e. Is super easy to use but the problem is that you have to buy the Player's Handbook (or other books) on d&d beyond to be able to use their subclasses, subraces, Backgrounds, etc or only use the Basic Rules. An alternative is if you want, I can share you my content that I all ready buy by a feature that d&d beyond have. Therefore you can make characters with the content of the Player's Handbook and Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes where are the Gith and the Tiefling Subraces. Thanks for today video.

I’m thinking yes man for they are in the standard player handbook. So far it doesn’t seem like they are leaving much out from that. There will be 15 races at launch Larian has said, I’m not sure if that 15 includes the sub races or if there will be 15 core races plus sub races!

Hey man, just know that it is NEVER my intent to make someone feel offended or hurt in anyway. I’m a very laid back guy and I’ve always enjoyed jokes, even if they were directed at me. With that said I understand not everyone is the same, we are all different. I can respect that! So I appreciate your feedback and I will certainly keep your input in mind for the future. Just use Kili the Dwarf from the hobbit as your inspiration. He’s a god among Dwarves for making the beautiful elf Tauriel love him! Can’t say it would be easy to follow in his footsteps though... lol

Thats basically non-canon. Ever since 3e there have been no portrayals in canon of bearded dwarven women. Once Eberron came out, the lore explicitly stated that female dwarves do not have beards.

@@master-jager The creators of Eberron were cowards. Just proving how fragile some men's masculinity are, lol. Whenever I run a D&D game (or any other fantasy setting where dwarfs exists) it's canon that ALL genders of dwarfs can grow magnificent beards. Dwarfs has no time for the modern human's sexism, they have mines to mine and glorious battles to win!
