Well in DOS2 you can play as a fire breathing lizard prince so I assume it will not be that hard for them to introduce Dragonborn as a playable race in BG3. Is one of my favourite races in D&D.

It would be a little disappointing if they didn't change the character model appropriately tho.

As someone who never played DnD before and only know Dragonborn from Skyrim; this information was really useful and I hope they do become a playable race within Baldur's Gate 3.

I really hope they're playable. They're one of the most interesting non-human races for me personally. I deeply appreciate their sense of honor, community, and functional yet artful creativity. And it's always nice to have draconics around that aren't just automatically pinned as enemies. If they're available, they'll probably be my first Fighter or Cleric.

Never met one of these guys before but they sound like folks you can trust to have your back. DOS2 had great Lizardfolk armors so I hope there are some cool ones in BG3 too.

Dragonborn have been my favorite D&D race since their introduction as a playable race in 4e. I'd recommend the Brimstone Angels Series by Erin M. Evans if you'd ever want to take a dive into Dragonborn culture. The later books deal with the concept more than the earlier ones.

I always hear DnD here and there. But it's never been so popular before, everyone I know now wants to know more about it thanks to BG3

Pretty interesting video. I never played Dragonborn race in any of the RPG video games before now as none allowed me to ☺️. I wil definitely try this race once BG3 releases.

I'm just hoping that the racial options aren't going to be limited to human-looking ones. I'd love to play as a dragonborn, lizardman or tabaxi. My first playthrough will be with a tiefling of course but otherwise, yeah. I also hope that the lizardmen's bite attack isn't nerfed into uselessness.

Man I hope Lauren implements Dragonborn similarly to Tiefling. With Tiefling we got a few Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes subraces. I'd love to see the Chromatic, Metallic, Gem Dragonborn subraces from Fizban's Treasury of Dragons. The Ravenite and Draconblood subraces from Explorer's Guide to Wildemount would be close 2nd (but still awesome) alternative.

Good stuff. Reading for this I would recommend would be RIchard Lee Byers' "Brotherhood of the Griffon" series about Aoth and his griffon riding mercenaries (he gets true sight from the spellplague and it has lots of dragonborn and genasi in it) and Erin Evans does a great job with dragonborn in her books about the tiefling warlock Farideh (and her sister) who were taken in as orphans and raised by a very special dragonborn hehe. Can you tell I can't wait for this game haha? Plus, in a bastard brothers way, the core Dragonlance novels by Weiss and Hickman kindof sortof almost give you a good taste of dragonborn in a different way...

I think warlocks are gonna be a very powerful class in BG. especially given that you get both spell slots at second level. powerful multiclass.

I’m waiting for Larian to tell us all of the races that will be in the game. But maybe I can do one using the early access races only for now.

He gets it from the 3rd, 4th and 5th edition tabeltop books and no he doesn't know anything they have not released yet

I like the idea of a militaristic, meritocratic society for Dragonborns, that's how i write them in my game, a bit based on Roman Republic

just had a thought, do dragonborn get along with the gith at all?

Hmmm well the Gith are not from the material plane, they are from the Astral plane so they don’t really get along with any of the races.

Come on full release were almost at 1 year ea

dragonborn are not descendants of dragons. they were slaves to dragons but are not descendants.

That's because the lead designer for story and design at Bethesda since they started design for skyrim believes the audience is stupid (Emilio even said so on video) and keeps the story as simple as possible.

WotC did the Dragonborn dirty when 5e launched, to the point I wish they hadn't even been in the PHB and instead been introduced in Xanathar's or Voldo's. Especially with how the Lost Mines of Phandelver and Tyranny of Dragons (the introductory material for 5th Edition gamers) have ABSOLUTELY ZERO suggestions for the DM about how to enrich a Dragonborn player's experience in Faerun. When the portion of Abeir vanished from Toril, the Dragonborn should have vanished with them, if they wanted to retcon 4th Edition so Tormdammned badly.
