Oh thank God this is a thing, I would legitimately pay $5 for their subscription service just to be able to have access to this. I fell off a couple of episodes after the split of the party. Life just got in the way I guess

Editing these episodes had to be a HUGE endeavor, thank you to everyone behind the scenes making this possible! Definitely going to make it easier for new viewers to jump in.

I'll be the first to admit this is a great idea. I've had to put CR videos on 1.5x speed a few times to catch up or make it through slow episodes.

I know! I loved the characters, but unfortunately just could not keep up due to IRL stuff past a few episodes, and catching up on the entire thing would've been impossible pretty much. So excited!

Captions would be amazing. Auto-generated captions just don't capture Matt's nuanced pronunciations and fantastical spellings. I wonder if the transcripts would be helpful here.

That opening description makes so much more sense having watched everything else afterwards. There's so much additional context that we now know

What ever team of people who did the editing... well done. This has to be a lot of work.

I remember finding the original episode almost by accident. I was investigating works of Laura Bailey...Knowing her from the voice of Serana in Skyrim. Now I am into Critical Role to the point of obsession. The whole story that is now almost 10 years in the making...Created basically by the random roll of dice...very interesting indeed!

I had the same thing happen with me. I was looking into Liam O'Brien's work from theater to voice acting and a friend mentioned Critical Role and sent me a compilation of his best work in C1. I was hooked and loved that other voice actors I love hang with him. Been a fan for 7 years and loving every moment. 😊🥰

Same thing but with Matthew Mercer xD I was surprised when I saw Laura, recognized Liam's voice from games I've played, later down the line with realized I knew of Sam and Travis' voice works, and fell in love with the rest of the cast along the way

I honestly think even though C3 isn’t my favorite of the 3, this is by far the best opening episode. Completely magical

stuff like this is also good for listening to it during car trips or if your work allows 1 earbud then listening to it using your phone or an mp3player (cause better battery life)

Bravo to the editors. As an editor in the ttrpg space, I know how much work this is. You are very appreciated (and you're also living my dream of editing for CR 😆)

This is definitely something I've been looking for as a way to introduce friends to Critical Role without subjugating them to 4+ hour video streams! It's a convenient way to get the most important parts out of the episodes in question and can help those in serious need of catch up. I hope CR can do this with the other 2 campaigns as well though.

I'd love if they did the other campaigns abridged. I got into CR before campaign 3 and just didn't have the time to go through all of the first two campaigns. Recaps are well and good, especially the written ones (which are so helpful when I can't remember what happened; thank you Dani!!), but I love seeing the players and stuff going on. Some of it is just extraneous though, like taking an hour to plan how to walk into a town.

The edited intro is very good. Thank you to the editors working on these episodes! As much as I love Critical Role and the episodes, sometimes my brain just can't get through 3-5 hours of content.

I first learned of Critical Role and started listening to Campaign 3 the week Candela Obscura debuted. It has been an enjoyable but wild 10(?) months. I drive as a job so i have been listening in podcast form and most weeks have been gaining between 12 and 20 hours a week. I have only caught up in the last week. Thank you for an amazing ride so far, but I am so pleased this is now an option. (I’m now going to start listening to Campaign 2 at leisure, now I have the time!)

Oh wow, I thought this was going to be exclusively Beacon! Makes sense to make it public for everyone though.

Only the beginning of this is free on youtube. The rest you'll have to pay for on beacon. I didn't look at the prices on beacon myself, but from what i heard they're not bad. I think people said they're pretty fair.

I will copy a comment from someone else : "at the end of the trailer it's explained and in the text underneath it's detailed, Beacon gets 12 episodes to start and new eps twice a week, Tuesdays and Fridays, youtube gets 4 episodes over the next week and just one ep per week after."

This is awesome. Since the start of campaign 1, I've always dropped critical role somewhere during a campaign (kept up with special moments however) because it just took too much time to keep up. This seems like the perfect alternative for me! Appreciate it 👌🏻

Shout out to Marisharaygun who single-handedly made hundreds of these summeries for campaign two and three. They retired recently, but should serve as a template on how to do it. Would be cool to see CR showing them some love and finish their work with campaign two.

Great way to catch up on the series. Campaign 3 has always felt like the slice of life era of CR - til the end game.

For the most part this did a really great job in terms of condensing down Episode 1, but there were a few cuts that took me out of things a bit, unfortunately: Bertrand talking about Eshteross; Laudna/Imogen suddenly heading to Zhudanna and the others already having rooms in the tavern; the lack of enemy turns outside the rug making the encounter feel like a non-threat (I recall the table had a p. decent charge against Orym, it's possible including only that turn would have solved this); and a few cuts that skipped past the projection transitions, which felt a bit odd. Some of this is more than understandable, because this feels like a recent plan and the episodes weren't recorded with this possibility in mind - which is to say I hope this becomes a pillar of production from now on! Excited to see how these kinks are worked out, and how that affects future episode recordings.

This makes me way less scared to get into C3. The busy and procrastinating critters thank you endlessly!!!

I am so happy they’re doing this! I watched the first 30ish episodes close to their release but then life got in the way and I’ve never really caught up - and probably forgot about a lot of things too. And I simply don’t have the time to get caught up with 60+ 4h episodes, so this is truly amazing!

Love it!! This is gonna be my new background go-to when I’m writing or working around the house!

Oh YES. Fantastic. I'm excited for this; I've never been able to get into a full CR campaign because I just can't commit to a full 4 hour show every Thursday with what I have going on. But an hour and a half? That's a lot more doable. I hope you gradually work on this for every episode, this would be AWESOME.

Lowkey if they had abridged for C1 and C2 also then people who want to speed run the show can get caught up relatively quickly.

Thousands of hours of editing is gonna take a while tbh, and they started the cooldown (Behind the scenes episodes) like 10 episodes ago, which was probably at the end of the "Here's what we are going to do"-and-its-mostly-finished-stage

The trailers for the abridged episodes said that they're releasing a new one every week and Beacon members get 2 a week. Plus there's like 13 of them locked and loaded on the Beacon site right now. I'm so glad they're doing this. Even for someone who is caught up it's nice to go back and rewatch these to refresh the memory. Cheers. :)

I believe the first several episodes of this are free for yt viewers. But the rest i believe will be exclusive to people with beacon memberships. Though from what i heard, the prices are fair. I haven't look at them, but it seems like they're not too high.

I think they will eventually with campaign 2, probably once they finish with campaign 3. But campaign 1 belongs to geek and sundry so I doubt they will do it anytime soon If ever. The first few campaign 2 episodes are like that too unfortunately. Still. This is HUGE
